All you have to do is say yes

I feel so live - part two

31st March 2014
We climbed into my car after a long and tiring day in the Californian sun. “Wanna go out for dinner honey?” I asked her just before I started to drive.
“Yes please daddy! Can we go to TGI Friday’s?” She asked as we pulled out of the parking lot, with the Disney castle behind us slowly fading in to the distance.
“Sure sweetie,”
We arrived at TGI’s 20 minutes or so later and we sat down and looked at out menus.
The waitress came over and took our orders. I glanced up to look at her and I felt my face heat up. She was gorgeous. Her hazel-green eyes glinted in the artificial light. “Sorry! I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Helen and you are?” She said, smiling at me.
I smiled back. “I’m Gerard and this is my daughter Bandit,” I beamed at her and she giggled, saying ‘hi’ to my little girl.
Once we had finished dinner, I left a few notes with a very generous tip for Helen and a small piece of paper with ‘call me G xoxo’ and my number neatly scribbled down on it. I handed her the money and note and she pulled her phone out the moment she read what was on the piece of paper.
Seconds later, my phone buzzed. I pulled it out of my ass pocket and opened the message: Hey Gerard! It’s Helen, your waiter from TGI’s ;)xoxo
I smiled and sent a text back: Hey Helen! Would love to see you again ;) G xoxo
Bandit and I got home and I was still texting Helen. I did stop when I put Bandit to bed and told her a story.
At 11pm, there was a knock at the door. Who would be here at this hour? Shrugging my shoulders, I opened the door and there stood Helen, her short red hair flowing around her neck on one side.
“Can I come in?” She whispered, looking kinda upset.
“Sure! How did you find out where I lived?” I asked, genuinely curious.
“There was an address on the note you left me and I kinda figured it was yours,” she smiled sadly and I moved aside, letting her in.
“What’s wrong?” I asked when we had sat down in my living room.
A couple of tears rolled down her face as she looked at me. “I don’t have a home! It was in flames when I got there after my shift. I’m homeless Gerard!” She sobbed…
