The World is Ugly

Truth or Dare

RRRRRRING!

Finally. Lunch! I packed up my stuff and practically ran to the table. There, Gerard, Frankie, and Ray sat at the table. Gerard looked up and saw me and smiled. He motioned yo the empty seat opposite of him. "Hey guys," I said when I sat down.
"You don't have to eat with us if you don't want to, or if you have other friends," Ray told me.
"Well, I've been friendless until yesterday and ate lunch on the bathroom for the past three days, so..."
"Very Mean Girls," replied Gerard.
"So, if you're from Portland, why are you not a hipster?" Ray asked in a perfect impression of Karen Smith.
"Oh my god, Ray, you can't just ask people why they're not a hipster!" replied Frankie. We broke out into laughter.
"So, instead of animal world, it's hipster world? Where everyone wears Raybans and skinny jeans and drinks Starbucks?" I asked.
"I guess."
"How did you guys know I was from Portland?" They turned to Gerard, who was chewing his lower lip.
"They kept asking so I told them about why you moved and about Tiffany. Sorry."
"No, I don't mind. Just thought it was weird they knew."
We spent the rest of lunch talking about our classes and how I like the school. I found out that Ray was in my chemistry class and Frankie was in my health class. Weird, I never saw them before.
"So, do you guys just never see Mikey during the day?"
"Actually, he has the same lunch period for lunch. But he plays the bass. Like, the guitar, not the stringed instrument," Gerard told me, "he practices almost every day and only eats lunch with us, like, once a week." I nodded.
"We're going over to Ray's house after school. Wanna join us?" Frankie asked.
"As long as you don't make me stay the night, I'll ask my mom," I looked over to Gerard. "She might be mad, though, she hasn't seen me in the past... 27 hours. Before I forget, I need your guys' numbers and addresses." I handed my phone to them and they all punched them in, though none of them would let me see the name they entered on there. Once I had my phone back, I wrote down my own number for them and handed it to them. Just then, the bell rang. I grabbed my stuff and walked to chemistry with Ray.

So, day four and Belleville High and I have 4 friends. That's pretty good, for having been almost drowned two days ago.

~*~ TIME ELAPSE ~*~

We all lived within blocks of eachother, so we all walked home together. Most of our conversation was questions about Portland. When we reached my house, they didn't seem very busy, so I invited them inside. They immediately went to the kitchen. Typical boys. I went upstairs to put my stuff away. When I went into my room, I noticed the window was open. I shrugged it off, assuming my mom opened it to air out my room. I grabbed my sticky notes and write on one, "Went to friend's house. It's just a block away, house 2552. Love, Rose." I stuck it to my door and went back downstairs. They had already finished a bag of chips and were eating another one. "C'mon, guys, let's go."

When we got to Ray's house, his mom started hugging everyone and asking how their day went. She still hugged me but asked me my name instead. "Rose."
"It's so nice to meet you Rose. I'm Mrs. Toro." I smiled and realized they were going down to what I assumed was a basement. I excused myself and followed. "So what are we doing?" I asked.
"We always play Truth or Dare," replied Ray.
"Really? I haven't played that since like, 1st grade."

We all sat in a circle and started off with Ray. "Truth or dare,,," please don't be me please don't be me, "Gerard."
"Truth."
"You and Rose dating?"
"Dude, I told you. We're not dating. You've asked me this like 10 times."
Ray shrugged. "You would be a cute couple. The two outcasts that the head of both sports teams want to kill." Gerard started blushing. I didn't really mind what he said; I've been through lots of "you guys should date!"'s before. The rest of the game included Dora the Explorer impressions, lampshades as hats, and lots of "Do you like..." and "Would you date..."

They ended up ignoring me for the questions until the final round. It was Mikey who had to give the last question or dare.
"Truth or dare... Rose "
"Hm? Oh, dare." I figured if I said truth they would ask me about vaginas or something.
"Make out with Gerard." I felt like punching him. They seemed really set on getting us to date. I sighed and sat next to Gerard. Before I really knew it, my lips were pressed against his and his tongue in my mouth. After a few seconds I couldn't breathe and had to pull away. Gerard's face was bright red, and by the warmth I felt in my face I assumed mine was too. They began cheering. Just then, Mrs. Toro came downstairs. Thankfully the lights in here were dim and she couldn't see mine and Gerard's faces. "Rose, dear, your mom is here." I nodded. I gave everyone a hug before leaving. Okay. Day Four at Belleville High. One beating. A murder attempt, a fight, and a makeout with a boy I met yesterday. Life was starting to be a lot more eventful than in Portland.
