Shot #1: First Meeting

**********Flashback*********

Time Lapse: 11 years back

“But mom, no one else is going to be wearing ties!”

The dark haired thirteen year old fussed with his shirt.

“Oh Gerard, this is your last year of middle school, you HAVE to look nice,” his mom said. Gerard rolled his eyes; it was like this every year. His mother always made a fuss during the first week. Lucky for him, she forgets soon after, so he goes back to band shirts and jeans.

He felt a piece of bread hit the back of his head. Gerard swiftly turned around only to have another piece chucked at his face. He glared at his younger brother, “Dammit Mikey, must you always throw your meals at me?”

Mikey stuck his tongue out at Gerard and continued eating. Their mother laughed at the sight. “You two look adorable! Oh, I need a camera!”

Gerard grinned began to back away slowly, “Alright Mikey, I think I’m going to make a run for it before she finds the camera.”
“I heard that,” their mother called out. Both boys laughed as their mom came back in and snapped a couple photos. “Alright, now off to school Gerard, I don’t want you to be late.”

Gee smiled at his mom and his brother and waved them goodbye.

-Mini Time Lapse-
Gerard looked around the room. Just his luck, he had no friends here at all. (Not that he ever had many friends in the first place.) He sighed and sat in a seat near the back of the classroom. It was the first day of school and papers were already being thrown everywhere. The ambiance of the room was energetic. There were smiles and laughs everywhere. Old friends were being reacquainted and new friends were being made. Gerard pulled out a piece of paper and began sketching the outline of a human. He continued drawing until he noticed a hush fall over the room. He looked up and saw his new teacher
.
“Welcome students! I’m Mr. Jameson. Although you’ve already situated yourself, I’ve assigned seats.”

The room erupted into a chorus of groans.

“Yes, I know you all want to sit near friends, but perhaps you’ll get lucky. Please line up against the wall and wait for your arrangements.”

The students, including Gerard, did as they were told. Mr. Jameson began reading off names. There were squeals and angry grumbling with each name read. Gerard paid no attention to everyone else’s seating. He only pitied the poor kid who would be seated next to him. “Gerard Way, you are right here.” Mr. Jameson pointed to the seat right before the edge in the last row. Gerard collected his things and moved. He set everything down and began drawing again. He gave his character wild hair and a mask. He drew and added detail to the head until he heard the seat right beside him screech from being pulled out and a bag being thrown onto the floor.

He turned his head and looked at his new neighbor. The boy sitting next to him was drop dead gorgeous. He had hazel eyes and tousled, dark brown hair. He wore a touch of eyeliner and had a “I don’t care” expression on his face. His lips were smooth and he had a strong jawline. Gerard wanted to trace his features to try and capture the beauty. He lost track of how long he was looking until the boy’s eyes met his. The mystery boy smirked at Gerard, “any reason you’re staring at me?”

Gee snapped out of his trance and felt his face heat up a bit, “Sorry, you look…” beautiful, “familiar…”

The boy continued smirking and turned his body to Gerard. “The name’s Iero, Frank Iero, and you’re a bad liar.”

Gerard let out a laugh and held out his hand. “I’m Way, Gerard Way,” he said mimicking Frank’s reference. Frank inspected Gerard’s hand as if there was something on it. He hesitantly took it and shook. He pulled his hand back and fully observed Gerard. The smirk crawled back onto his face, “Nice tie, did your mom pick it out for you?” he joked. Gerard answered in an equally sarcastic tone, “As a matter of fact she did. My mom has more style than most of these idiots.”

Both boys burst into a fit of laughter. Frank flashed a genuine smile at Gerard, “You know what? I like you Gerard. Let this be the start of a beautiful friendship.”

**********End Flashback*********

Time Lapse: Present

Gerard harshly gripped the edge of the bar. His breathing was jagged. Maybe I need another one. It’s probably the mixed emotions.

He lifted the second glass, licked the salt off his opposite hand, and quickly drank the substance. He inserted another lime into his mouth and was once again flashed into his memories.
