I'm Just A Normal Teenager

Ooh la la

As we walked into the park at the end of our street, we saw Mikey with a girl of all people. She was tall with brown hair. She held her head high and looked like the kind of person that wouldn't give a shit about anyone unless they were bleeding to death. With the exception of Mikey, I hope. Frank and I walked further down the path and instantly turned when she looked our way. "Who's that?" Frank asked. "It looks like the girl from Starbucks, y'know, the one I called 'mum'." I explained. "Oh yeah. You realise your an idiot for running through the store like that." He said giggling at what I had done. "Shut up." I said punching his arm playfully.

We walked closer to the edge of the lake and as soon as we did, the girl grabbed her clothes and left after kissing Mikey on the lips. "Ooh la la, Mikey's got a girlfriend." I nagged. "So what?" He asked awkwardly. "You totally only got her number because of me." I said as I waved my hand furiously in front of my face, acting like I was fanning myself. "Yeah, so what, she wanted to come out with me and she did." He explained like he was weirded out with my actions. "Fine, lets go home now, it's starting to get dark."I said motioning towards the fading sun.

The sun seemingly faded at every step we took. The sky was a dark blue now but not quite on the verge of black. The birds were chirping and occasionally, a car or bike would go past. "Shut your fucking mouths you ass hat birds." Mikey screamed. "Woah, what the fuck?" I asked, confused of his sudden anger. "That came from those fucking birds, making me go deaf...almost." He muttered the last part for some odd reason, but I didn't want to push it so I just stayed quiet.

We all walked home in silence after Mikey's outburst and didn't speak until we reached home. We opened the door to find mum curled in a ball of blankets, on the floor and reading a book. She also seemed to be drinking wine. She hasn't drunk that in years, the last time I saw her drinking wine, was when dad left and only left a message on the phone to say that he wanted a divorce. "Mum, something's up. What's wrong?" I asked seriously worried about what might have happened. As I said those words, a whole lot of scenarios went through my head of what might have happened. "Nothing's wrong honey." She said sounding almost convincing, but when her voice cracked half way through, it was a dead give away that something was wrong. "No mum, I'm serious, what's wrong?" This time I sounded even more concerned. "Here, come sit down." She said patting the floor next to her.

We all sat down and repeatedly asked her what was 'up'. "Well, I was driving on the highway and a car swerved out in front of me." She started as we listened attentively. "And we crashed, but when I got out of the car to see if the person was alright, they were dead." At this point she was crying into Mikey's arms. With us still not knowing the full story, we gestured for her to continue. "Well, the person that was in the car w-was your f-f-father." Now she was bawling her eyes out and sharing hugs between Mikey and I. She even pulled Frank into a hug, as if he was a part of the family. Frank simply smiled and leaned in for the hug.

When mum had finished hugging us all and went into the kitchen to make dinner, was when we finally got upstairs. I opened the door to my bedroom and instantly flopped onto my bed, the realisation of what happened was still processing in my head. My eyes were bland and showed no emotion other than shock, until Frank pulled me into a tight hug from his position on the bed. I let more tears fall as Frank shushed me and rocked me back and forth in his arms. This was the most peaceful I've been and that triggered the deep sleep that was coming when I would just shut my eyes. "I love you Frank." I said and drifted off as I waited for a reply. "I love you too Gee." I heard just as I fell asleep.

I really hate saying why I didn't post because it probs comes off to you as just another lame excuse, so from now on, I'm not gonna say why I haven't posted unless its something really important.
