And You Don't Know A Thing About This Life
Chapter 16
Frank's POV
Darrell's foot was on my chest, and I struggled to get up from underneath him. His eyes pierced into my soul like sharp needles through skin. Needles reminded me of Gerard's fear. And his fear reminded me of the man himself. Oh fuck. I had promised Gerard that I wouldn't let anyone hurt me and here I am, under my tormentor watching like a scared little bug. I've only been in this hellhole for about ten minutes, and I was already kicked at and beaten up. I just needed to get up, scramble quickly to my wardrobe, grab some tees and sweaters and jackets plus more converse. I also needed to get my hands on my girl, Pansy.
I had to do all this without Gerard knowing I got mauled by my brother. How in the world would I convince him that no one was hurting me, with all these wounds and bruises? I had to fake an accident, and then tell him all my wounds were from that accident. Perfect.
Before I even get close to doing all that, I need to get away from Darrell. I'm not weak or anything, but he has a height advantage over me, so this is difficult. With all my strength, I push that son of a bitch off of me.
"What, the little shit finally has courage to fight back?" He sneered.
I ignore him and head to my wardrobe, grabbing my clothes and putting them all in a plastic bag, not to mention my converse. Delicately, my hands grip Pansy's case. I stop at the stairs and remember instantly that Gerard was outside, and that he could hear what was happening. Falling down the stairs would totally cover for all these bruises.
Holding Pansy's case, I trip myself down the stairs, making a lot of noise. I hear footsteps. But Darrell's still upstairs. It's my mother's wife.
He drops a beer bottle that was in his hand, and lunges towards my neck. I can't breathe.
I kick at him until he finally gives in, throwing the shards of his drink at me. With all my belongings, I headed outside, where Gerard was parked.
"Frank, what happened!" Gerard screamed.
"Cross my heart, I will be honest to you. I fell down the stairs, and it really hurt." That wasn't a lie, my back hurt like hell.
"W-was someone else in there?"
I didn't answer.
"Frankie, who else was in there?"
"Some questions don't have answers."
Gerard sounded tense. "W-well this one has an answer."
"Some questions have answers that come out easily."
"Then answer my question."
" Questions like this one don't need to be answered, Gerard."
"F-Frank..."
Tears started to fall. "I fell down. End of conversation."
