Song: Let's Kill Tonight by Panic! At the Disco

Gerard started a little, realizing he had fallen asleep and lifting his head up quickly, not sure where he was. He looked around the room, and then down at himself, his eyes falling to his arm and following it to where his hand was still clutching his coffee mug. He sighed, realizing where he was. He was at school. No, not as a student. Gerard was a teacher. The English teacher at Belleville High, better known as Mr. Way. The man was incredibly lonely. He hated writing. He hated kids. He hated learning. He hated teaching. But this was his job, and he couldn’t argue that he wasn’t good at it. His classes weren’t easy A’s, oh no, you had to had some kind of brains to even pass. And that is why he took this job. Gerard’s goal was to change these teenagers’ lives. He knew he probably wouldn’t, but it was worth the try. He shook his head, trying to clear the jumbled up thoughts, angry at himself for being out of it all day. He should be home. He could be home. Well, no, he reasoned. He couldn’t. Then he’d be out of a job and have no money and eventually lose his apartment and end up like he was before, lost, alone, addicted, and – Gerard stood up and stretched, grumbling to himself for letting his thoughts stray to such a bad place already. “Fuckin’ cheapass chair,” he grunted, kicking at the leg of his desk and hurting his toe, causing him to hiss and spill his coffee all over his papers. He groaned loudly and turned around, deciding he needed to wipe this mess up off the ground before he got into trouble, so lost in thought that he didn’t even notice the kid standing in front of him and nearly plowing him over, spilling the rest of his coffee on him and grabbing the paper towels he’d been going for in the first place.
“Agh! Sorry,” he said automatically, “Here, let me get that for you,” he began to wipe at the stained shirt in front of him, paying little attention to the wearer and only the material. “Hey, Misfits. Great band,” he commented, glancing up. And that was when Gerard saw him. His eyes were met with hazel orbs of wonder, overwhelmed by the emotion in them. Pain, innocence, sadness, hope, loneliness. It was all so intense – enough to make the man’s breathe get caught in his throat.
“I, er, uh, yeah, they’re one of my favorites,” the eyes took a step back and Gerard’s ears were hit with the same amount of beauty from such a voice. He took the liberty to actually take in the boy’s whole entire face, awestruck by his features. Something this perfect couldn’t exist. He must still be asleep. “I was here a little early, sorry,” he breathed out, quickly and quietly, like he was scared something bad would happen if he spoke.
“It’s alright, pretty boring in here by myself anyways. Why aren’t you at lunch, though?” Gerard raised an eyebrow, still unconvinced something so beautiful was standing right in front of him.
“I, um, didn’t feel like going?” the boy replied.
“That’s pretty suspicious sounding, but I’ll buy it for now for the sake of our conversation. What’s your name?” Gerard asked.
“Frank,” he replied, equally quickly, “Frank Iero.”
“I’m Mr. Way, nice to meet you,” he stuck out his arm, getting a confused look before realization dawned on Frank’s face and he shook his teacher’s hand unsurely. Frank’s palms were cool and sweaty, with just the right amount of callouses to add a nice texture. The fact that he was so nervous was kind of endearing, and he didn’t really want to let go. He did so anyway, maybe a little reluctantly, and their touch was interrupted by the space between them. Gerard’s hand was still buzzing with electricity as he reached up and scratched the back of his neck, and Frank looked away, chewing his lip. Something flashed and Gerard noticed that he had a lip piercing. Funny how he had a bit of a, liking, if you will, for piercings. This was going to be an interesting year.

Notes

Well, this is my first fic. This chapter's not much, I suck at beginnings anyways, but the damn thing took me all day to write/come up with/get the motivation to start. Anywho, your advice and compliments are greatly appreciated. I'll also try to answer any questions. Thanks so much for reading. Feel free to comment, rate, and subscribe.
