Keep Me Safe from Myself

Hello Angel, Tell Me Where Are You

**Gerard POV**

We made our way back to the house and situated ourselves in the living room. By the time we had gotten back, the one called Ari, I think, was no where to be found. It was like she had just disappeared. I mean Bob wasn’t worried, so I guess she was still dead, but still. What happened to her?

Jenna walked through the doors again to join us, and sat herself next to Bob. I was sitting in the recliner, Hannah on my lap. She was curled up in a comfortable position, and had finally calmed down enough to the point she had just used up all of her energy and fallen asleep. I’m surprised she didn’t go deaf, any normal person would lose half their hearing with a gunshot that close, even for a little while. Then again, her family wasn’t exactly normal, now was it?

My mind continued to play back the events of last night when a certain blonde cleared her throat, snapping me back to reality. Frank and Mikey had sobered up mostly due to some coffee, time and just plain shock. They reacted towards her voice, but refused to make eye contact with her. Hell, they had good reason not to.

“I don’t even know where to begin..” She started, her voice trailing off. She glanced around the room, digging through her mind.

“How about an apology?” Mikey spoke up, his eyes glued to the floor.

“Sure, why not. Mikey, I'm so sorry. For everything. I did love you, I really did. I didn’t want to turn into the jealous bitch, but it had to be done. I had to get Hannah out of here without telling her-“ She glanced at me. “Are you sure she’s out cold?”

I brushed my fingers through her hair and softly called her name, but she didn’t stir. I nodded her way, encouraging her to continue.

“-without telling her everything.” She hesitated, decided against whatever she was afraid of saying in front of her. “I talked to Bob about it, and we just decided to give up on making her leave, since it obviously wasn’t going to happen." Her gaze shifted towards me for a moment, before turning back towards my brother and continuing. "Mikey, I never meant to hurt you in any way, but it wasn’t up to me. I guess it was easier letting you go knowing that-“

“Don’t say her name. You don’t get to bring her up.” He interjected.

“Understood.”

We sat there in silence for another couple of moments before I finally asked the question that had been on my mind since I first stepped outside and almost seen my girlfriend’s blood pour out all over the sidewalk. I softly grasped her hand, as if someone would take her from me at any moment.

“What’s a Cherub?”

“Nothing.” Bob quickly spoke up, trying to avoid the question. He glanced at Hannah, like he was afraid to talk with her around.

“You said you told them everything.” Jenna glared up at Bob, obviously pissed that she’d been lied to.

“I didn’t want to overwhelm them.”

“Well, tell them now!”

“No!”

“If you won’t tell them, I will.”

“Cherub: a winged angelic being who is considered to attend on the Abrahamic God in biblical tradition.” This time, it was Frank who spoke, reading word for word from his iPhone screen. Everyone slowly looked and turned towards me, all staring at Hannah. Even I couldn’t help but look down at her. Her red, wavy hair lay against her pale skin, her breathing slow and peaceful. I felt her twitch slightly at the word ‘angelic’, but relax shortly after. I ran my fingers slowly through her soft red layers. If only I knew what she was dreaming about.

“Our little Hannah..” He started.

My little Hannah.” I interrupted.

“Her father was never home, it was as if she was being raised by a single mother. She had just told me that he was always away because of work.” He muttered, breaking off his glare from my earlier comment.

“Because that’s what she believed, and what she still believes. Keep in mind that these sisters know nothing about what you know now." Bob reminded us.

“Well they need to.” Jenna and I spoke at the same time. I looked up at her and we nodded in agreement. Bob just shook his head and sighed in defeat.

“Well from what I’m hearing, it’s just going to get worse from here on out. Wont it be equally as dangerous if they don’t know?” I asked him.

He finally cracked. “Fine. We’ll tell them tomorrow. But I want to be here. J, you should be here too, although you’re gonna have to apologize all over again.”

“I know, and trust me, I need to. I still feel awful about everything.” She stood up and said her goodbyes to everyone, her gaze on Mikey more than the rest of us. She softly smiled in his direction and walked around the corner, with Bob at her heels as they both made their exit.

I dismissed Frank back to his place. We both agreed that it wasn’t exactly in their best interest for Blaze to be home alone anymore. Not that it ever was, but now that all the secrets had surfaced, we needed to be extra careful.

Mikey walked off to his bedroom, and shut the door behind him. I checked the clock- it was almost 2:00 am. No wonder she was out cold.

I softly tucked her into our bed and kissed her forehead. She tossed slightly, moving on her side before relaxing fully against the mattress again. I walked back towards the living room and turned on the TV again, throwing the remote on the floor. It ricocheted off an empty beer bottle and slid across the floor. I kneeled down and picked up several empty ones before throwing them into the garbage. I sighed and walked back towards the living room, and picked up several more bottles, these ones not so empty. One of them was even still unopened. I picked up a cap remover from the kitchen counter and popped it off, downing it in about a minute. One wouldn’t hurt, right? Especially after the night I’ve had.

I picked a second, then a third from the floor and finished them quickly while 'Saturday Night Live' played softly in the background.
