Some like to sleep, We like to play

When I wake up I am in a hospital bed with a lot of wires attached to me. Gerard is slumped over the bed next to me asleep and I remember what happened before everything went black. I look around for my baby but I can't see it anywhere. Gerard wakes up and when he sees my eyes open he pulls me into his arms and I feel tears soaking my hair as he croaks out "Z you're awake. Thank god I thought I was going to lose you. I love you so much." When he pulls away he seals his lips to mine and I kiss back, stroking my fingers down his cheek. When he pulls away again I look at him confused and say "What happened? Where's the baby?" He continues to cry as he says "You almost died babe. They got the baby out fine, she's healthy by the way, really tiny but she's getting stronger everyday and the doctor said she'll be perfectly healthy. But after she was out they couldn't stop the bleeding and it took a while to find where it was coming from. I had to give blood so you could have a transfusion. You've been unconscious for three days." I reach out and wipe his tears away. "You saved my life" I whisper and he nods and shrugs his shoulders like it was nothing. I stare at him in awe before I reach up and pull him to me in a hug. When we break apart again I say "I want to see our daughter." He nods and leans in for one last kiss before saying "I'll be right back" and leaving the room.
When he comes back he is carrying a tiny little bundle of blankets in his arms and a nurse is following him. "It's nice to see you awake Mrs Way" the nurse says and I smile briefly at her before my attention locks on to the baby in Gerard's arms. I reach out and he gently passes her to me. Once she's secure in my arms I lift one hand up and gently trace my finger over her tiny little face. As I pull it away her little lips twitch and she opens her eyes, staring right at me. I stare back in awe and she makes a little noise before closing her eyes again. I look back up at Gerard and the smile on my face is massive. He smiles back and the nurse says "So what are you naming her?" I stare at Gerard completely unprepared for this and he says "If it's alright with my wife, Lily Elena Way." My mouth drops open and I can't find the words to express how much it means to me that he wants to name our daughter after my mother. The nurse looks to me for any disagreement so I say "Its perfect." We smile at each other as the nurse leaves and closes the door. "Babe I can't ever thank you enough for this." I say and Gerard cuts me off and says "I know how much it meant to you and I got Elena for my grandmother so it's fine." "I love you" I choke out between tears of joy. "I love you too" Gerard says before leaning in and kissing me again.

A week later I am allowed to leave with Lily. The first few days home are tough with Lily and Bandit and Riley and I find myself constantly exhausted. I try so hard to spend time with Bandit and Riley but it's hard with the new baby. After a week I figure out a balance to everything and I start to regain my strength. Gerard is heading back into the studio to record their new album and I struggle while he's gone. By the time he gets home at night I am on the verge of tears and he comes in and comforts me as best he can. As time goes on it gets easier and before I know it the album is done and the guys are headed out in tour again.
Over the last six months since the last tour Gerard and I have worked out our problems and seem to be stronger than ever, my feelings for Frank faded to almost nothing. He is packing for tour and I lay on the bed and beg "Take me with you." He laughs and leans in to kiss me before continuing with the packing. "I would if I could beautiful. I'm going to miss you so fucking much."
The next day Gerard leaves for tour and before he gets on the bus he wraps his arms around me and crushes me to his body as he says "I love you with all my heart and I'm going to miss you so much. I know you can do this without me and I promise I will call you everyday to make sure you're alright." "I love you more and I'll miss you too" I say back as we pull back to lock our lips together. As Gerard climbs onto the bus he turns back and says "Will you wait for me?" I smile and say "Forever" before he steps in and the doors close, the bus pulling away and leaving me behind. When I get home with the kids I go into the bedroom and see a box sitting on my pillow. I open it to see a necklace with a round pendant with two overlapping hearts engraved on it. When I pick it up I read the inscription on the back. 'I'd wait for you forever too.' I smile and put the necklace on feeling the knot of sadness in my chest easing knowing that after everything we've been through Gerard and I are unbreakable.
