Just One More Bite
Laid To Rest
Frank remains curled up at the side of the street, his hair, now greasy and wet with gasoline, concealed his face. I sped towards him, placing my fingers at his gloves. Very discreet and silent, I could hear something. The sound was coming from his neck, which was beating at a normal speed. Usually at the sight of someone's neck, I bite it when I have the chance, but I wouldn't do that to Frank.
I remove a strand of hair from his face to reveal narrowed eyes cornered with grey dust, and his lip drowned in blood. I keep myself from tasting it, and hoist Frank into my car, seating him at the passenger's seat. What if he's severely injured?
Dammit. Frank could have a concussion, which could lead to a whole mess in the brain damage situation. I simply couldn't live knowing that Frank had a severe head injury, or any injury, that is.
Driving at 85 mph, I arrive home in five minutes flat. I carry Frank up to the couch and lay him there peacefully. I watch as he unconsciously remains there, only taking huge breaths within my sofa. I walk towards him and bend down to the furniture.
He looked so peaceful. It was almost as if he was a sculpture made of glass, resting upon my sofa in a sleeping position. Frank was a perfect soul, with an amazing heart and a genuine smile. And he was beautiful.
I lean towards him, barely a centimeter away from his face. I peck him gently at those pretty lips of his and head to my room.
"Good night Frank," I say, entering the darkness of my room.
"Nighty night, Gerard," I hear throughout my apartment. I guess that was my imagination. I mean, that's all it could be, right?
