Just One More Bite

I stare at Frank, bewildered. Maybe if I ignore him, his mood will change. He smiles as if nothing happened and as if I didn't hear anything.

"So, how's school going for you?" I ask, trying to shake off whatever he was sulking on. It's not that I didn't care, but I couldn't change anything after all, so I did absolutely nothing to help him. Tell me I'm a bad man, I don't really care.

"Well, I have okay grades." Way to end this conversation, now the car's all silent.

"Frank, I need to stop by the store. Is that okay for you?"

"T-take your time," Frank replied.

I nodded fed and drove my car through the lot and into the highways. Frank kept his fingers slightly out the windows, and breathed in the air rushing towards his face, laughing and smiling at the same time. We go through a tunnel, and I instruct Frank to open the skylight from the top of the car. Frank opens it and sticks his whole upper body through, waving his hands up in the air, giggling,

"Do you see a silver lining?" I ask, yelling to be heard.

For a few minutes, I drive fast towards the lining, but check my rearview mirrors to see how Frank's doing. And I can't believe my eyes.

Frank is standing on top of my car, and I am racing 60 mph. And he is leaning...or is he falling?
