The Light Behind Your Eyes

Gerard's POV

I went over to the phone to answer, hoping it was my mom's job offer. "Hello?" I asked, trying to sound as professional as I could.
"Where's Frank?" The voice on the other end asked. I gave Frank the most worried look I could, moving off of his lap and sitting on the couch next to him.
"Umm sorry, who's calling?" I said.
"This is Frank's father, I'd like for him to come home and stop hiding out at his boyfriend's house."

Oh shit. My heart sank and my stomach tied itself in knots. I started to feel sick and lightheaded as I placed the phone back to my ear. Catching my breath I decided to lie in order to keep Frank safe.

"I'm sorry I think you have the wrong number." I lied.
"I don't have the wrong number, Gerard Way..?"
"Frank's not safe at your house, I can't let you take him back." I replied and hung up right away.

I put the phone back on the coffee table and Frank looked at me with concern. I told him the whole story of how his dad wanted to take him back and he looked frightened. Now I had to make sure Frank's dad didn't find out where we were. I had to make sure I kept Frank safe. Frank and I went back to my room, I took off the clothes I had left and sat down next to Frank on my bed.

"Gerard what if he finds out where I am?" Frank asked me looking scared.
"It's okay, I'm here, I'm not letting you go back." I replied as I was putting on my black skinny jeans. "Just give me a second, I'll call Mikey and Ray and we can go out alright?" Frank nodded and I walked upstairs to get the phone to call Mikey.

I called his cell phone and Mikey picked up right away. I explained everything that was going on and he and Ray would be back soon. Walking out of the living room and back to my bedroom I stopped when I heard the phone ringing. I really didn't want to get it but the job offer! I crept across the room and went to the phone and answered it cautiously.

"Hello..?" I asked.
"Yes, is Mrs. Way there, it's about the job she applied to"

I sighed out of relief, and gave the person my mom's cell phone number and walked downstairs to where Frank was. He was still sitting on my bed where he had been when I left to go upstairs. Both of us waited for a couple of minutes when there was a knock at the front door. Mikey and Ray were standing outside so I grabbed my car keys and walked outside, holding Frank's hand. The four of us got into my car and I started driving to the city. Mikey and Ray were in the back, listening to some metal band and Frank and I were in the front, talking about where we should go. The four of us decided on going out for dinner and then walking around. We didn't go to some fancy place but it wasn't a dump.

"Gerard?" Frank said as we sat down at the table.
"Hmm?" I hummed in response, seeing what Frank needed.
"Thanks for today" He said as he leaned over and kissed my cheek. My cheeks turned a bright shade of red and the waitress that was sitting the four of us down just squealed.
"Aww, you two are so cute!" She exclaimed. Frank was now a light shade of red along with me.

The four of us ate our dinner and after we paid and split up. Mikey and Ray went off to some comic book store and Frank and I continued to walk around the city. The two of us found a bench outside an old and shut down store and sat down on it together. There weren't many people there so Frank and I could sit close to each other and not have to hide our relationship. We were both laughing about old stories we were telling and stupid things we have done when Frank's phone started ringing. He looked at the number calling and his eyes widened, then I knew exactly who it was.

"Hello?" He said. I could only hear Frank's replies but I could imagine what his dad was saying.
"No! I'm not coming back" "I'm not telling you where I am" "Seriously, fuck off!"

Frank hung up and looked towards me with terrified eyes.

"What's going on?" I asked.
"My dad. He's looking for me" Frank immediately grabbed me and clung to my chest. "What am
I going to do?"
