A Frerard Fanfiction: A Murder Of Crows

All Eyes On Us

Frank hadn't been able to restrain his utter heartthrob that strung through him the moment Gerard bathed him in utter glory. The words that left his lips were like beads of gold, enveloping his heart in goodness, love and thanks. Not once had he failed to add an 'I love you' to the end of each conversation they exchanged, nor had he failed to present Gerard with new sketchbooks, CD's, roses, t shirts and movies at least once a week, or smother him in endless hugs. He was determined to let their romantic waterfall flow leisurely. They'd certainly need it now they were back at school, back to basking in the homophobia, backstabbing and torment.

TThe night they lay on the bed, Frank thanking Gerard over and over and over again for his compliments, planting soft kisses over every bare strip of skin he could find, he had followed Gerard back to his house, so they could comfort each other and complete any homework as a pair. School loomed like an ominous black cloud at the end of summer, except instead of raindrops, this showered insults.

Frank rolled over in the cacoon of blankets he shared intimately with Gerard, turning round to face his sleeping boyfriend. He looked over his shoulder, glancing at the alarm that flashed 7.30 in a sinister green glow, lighting up the somewhat dark room. They had 30 minutes to ready themselves to school, and Gerard seemed sound asleep, making muffled whimpering sounds as he lay restfully in a slumber.

"Gerard" Frank soothed into the darkness, reaching a hand out and tapping Gerard's shoulder with considerable force.
"W-w-what?" Gerard slurred through his sleep ridden brain, cracking his eyes open and breathing through his mouth.

"We've got school" Frank sighed, sliding out of the bed and planting his feet on the cold concrete floor of the basement, which had been layered in thin black carpet. He proceeded across the floor, picking his way over comic books, a phone and an array of drawings, and nearing the closet, running his hands through his own supply of clothes he kept at Gerard's. He picked out a bare of faded black jeans, and the first t shirt he came across, which happened to be a Morrisey one, and pulled clean boxers from the drawer, which happened to be Gerard's. After shrugging his clothes on, facing away from Gerard's sleep hazed eyes, he cleaned his face up in the mirror, scrubbed his teeth and ran eyeliner over his eyelids, in minimal quantities, but enough to make his eyes pop. Feeling at ease in the Way Family's home, he trundled down the stairs, tripping slightly on the scuffed carpet , and went into the kitchen to be greeted with Donna handing him a bowl of Frankenberry and a steaming mug of coffee.

Gerard presented himself shortly after, falling through the door in a sleepy stuper, his hair a birds nest resting on top of his head, his skin pale and oily beneath his greasy locks, a baggy t shirt failing to pinch any of his curved features and his jeans falling half way down his hips, the fly undone.

"Gerard, you can't go to school like that" Donna tutted, handing Gerard a mug of coffee and smirking slightly as he winced at the combination of toothpaste and hot beverages, taking the cup away from his mouth in disgust.

"I don't give a fuck about school, mom" Gerard abandoned all ideas of polite speech to his mother, leaning groggily against Frank's shoulder.

"Language, mister! Frank, what do you think?" Donna quirked an eyebrow, smiling as Mikey nervously sidled into the room, clutching an armful of tattered books, which appeared to be entirely about physics.

"I think he looks cute all sleepy" Frank blushed, reaching down to do up Gerard's fly in a highly undiscrete manner and yanking his jeans up to sit just below his hips, using a hand to brush hair away from his eyes. Gerard was such a baby. Donna just sighed, shook her head and waved them off, as Gerard grumbled his way out of the door, slamming his bag violently against the wall as he went.

AsAs soon as they were out of the house, Frank took Gerard's hand in his own, entwining their fingers in a passionate embrace. He knew they were asking for it. They'd been moaning about the insults for days now and here they were, linking hands like the rainbow brigade. It wasn't that they were only scared, they were determined to not let the bullies get to them, and rub what they knew they hated, in their faces, only letting themselves become more free.

As they walked in comfortable silence, Gerard gripped Frank's hand tighter, feeling sweat rise on his palms as the cast iron gates merged into view, sinister in the New Jersey landscape.

The sound of their feet stepping systematically onto the tarmac cracked floor seemed to resonate across the bustling front grounds of the school, as what seemed l a million heads snapped up towards them, the two males, no longer holding hands, awkwardly standing there, about to rant about the saddness of not having comic lessons as an option.
They all knew something.
