Coffee Beans

**Gerard's POV**
I sat on the mattress until it was completely dark. The lights were on in the house and Lyn-z was watching TV on the highest volume she could. Real mature, rubbing shit in people's faces after you completely tear their entire heart out and throw it in the house along with a hot shower and a meal. I've been living off of coffee all day. The only real meals I have are breakfast and dinner.

I saw a pair of headlights come straight down the road and stop in front of me. A tall, slender man with light brown hair stepped out. "Gee, Gee, what happened?!" He said, "You look like shit, buddy!"
He pulled his brother up only to have him flop over his shoulder, "It's all gone Mikey, I have nothing. Lyn-z doesn't love me anymore." I cried into his sleeve.
Mikey patted my back. "You can't live with me, but I have an apartment you can stay in for a while until we get you back on your feet.
I pushed my hair off of my face. "Thank you so much" I barely said through tears.
"Come on, Gee. Let's get everything packed up. Okay?" He grabbed both of my shoulders and looked at me straight in the eyes, "Okay?"
I nodded solemnly, "Okay."

I grabbed my suitcase and threw it in the back seat. Then we both wrestled with the mattress to get it to fit int he back of his SUV. Two fold-away seats later we were driving not far form the comic book store. It was a small, shabby apartment I swore was abandoned, but apparently a scrawny lady with seventeen cats lived in unit A1, A distressed mother with two kids lived in A2, and my unit was B1, up the stairs. There was one other door, but Mikey said the chick moved out weeks ago. We tackled with the mattress some more to get it in first. The living room and kitchen were all one squished together, there was one bedroom, and a tiny bathroom. The bedroom was probably enough to fit the mattress wall-to-wall at the narrowest point, and about enough space to have a nightstand.

I threw my suitcase on the bed and sighed. Mikey patted my shoulder, "Hey, you'll be alright."
My eyes were red and puffy and my skin was raw from all of the tears it collected. I gave Mikey a hug. He left without another word. Oh God, what now? The unit was barren. All I had was a bed and my clothes. It was dark, but it was only 8 o'clock.

I searched in my pocket. Fuck yeah! I still had a pack of cigarettes. I placed them on the counter and took off my jacket, along with my shirt and tie. I was left in my black jeans. Was I allowed to smoke here? Nah, better play it safe. I unlatched the metal lever on the window, and slid it open with an irritating squeak. Leaning on the window sill, I lit up my cigarette. I took a drag, holding it in and taking in the cold air that blew through my hair and cold air that cooled the sweat on my face and chest. I exhaled, imagining exhaling all of the worries that seemed to make my shoulders tense.

After my cigarette burned to nothing, I dropped it out of the window. I closed the window back up and scuffled to my room. I took off my jeans and turned on the ceiling fan. I was just sweating too much from the stress and cigarettes. I curled up on the mattress and closed my eyes, playing a song over and over in my head.
