Give Me a Reason to Believe
Chapter 10
"So Charlotte what brings you here."Andrew asked flipping though albums.
"I just needed to get out of the house and this was the first place I thought of."I admitted.
"Ahh understandable. The parentals giving you a hard time."
I frowned a little at the word, for two reasons. The first being I had never heard anyone use the word parentals in a normal conversation and it was odd. The second was the meaning, parents. I didn't have any...or I didn't anymore at least. Gerard and Lindsey were just my guardians for the next year, or at least that's what I had been telling myself. I truthfully didn't really know what they were to me.
"Something like that." I finally stated unable to think of a better and more efficient explanation.
"Music is always the greatest escape from reality."
"Could not agree more." I said skimming through more albums myself. I had already settled on one album and decided if would just get one more rather that two.
"So I don't think I've seen you before. I come almost everyday too find new music, usually everyone that comes is a regular. Did you just move here?"He asked eyeing me curiously.
"Um no. Lived here all my life just never got a chance to come here. What about you? You look about my age but I've never seen you at school."
"I just moved here at the beginning of the month. My school year was over before yours so my parents decided not to enroll me for the last two weeks."he explained."I'm going to be a senior when the school starts up again."
"I'm going to be a senior too. I can tell you this much though, the school is fairly boring and there aren't very many interesting people."
"Well lucky me, I've just met one of them."
"I am many things, but interesting is not one of them"I scoffed.
I was many things, the first being troubled. That was a major one, but I was also sarcastic, cynical, abandoned and oh the list could go on forever without very many positives. I guess that also made me quite a negative person too.
I shrugged the thoughts away and reburied them momentarily as Andrew began talking again.
"I beg to differ. You are dress like all you listen to is punk and rock yet the albums you've settle on are indie and alternative without even glancing at any punk albums. I can also add that though you are smiling at me at this very moment your eyes are telling a different story. And that, I find, is very interesting."
"Strange then, not interesting."I corrected turning away from him walking to the cashier.
The cashier gave me the same pleasant smile he have me when I entered and rang me up. I didn't turn to look at Andrew but I could tell he was still standing where I left him. The cashier, whose name tag read 'Tim' gave me the total and handed him the cash. Gerard and Lindsey had agreed upon an allowance as long as I did my chores without being reminded. I usually had nothing better to do, so they were always done 20 minutes after I got dressed every morning and I was paid $10 every Friday. This was the first time I had actually spent money that was mine on myself, at the orphanage I never had extra money so I never got a chance to buy things for myself.
'Thanks Tim." I smiled as he handed me the bag and I walked out of the store.
"Wait!"A voice called out to me as I walked across the parking lot.
I turned to see Andrew jogging towards me. I had to admit some small part of me had hoped he would and my heart leapt a little at the sight.
"Strange, not interesting Charlotte I was wondering if I could have you're number. It's okay if you say no, I mean we did only just meet 15 minutes ago." He rambled running his hand through his hair."I just would really like to get to know you more. Seeing as how we both are going to be seniors and I just moved here and-"
"if I say yes will you stop talking?"I asked cutting him off.
He nodded violently causing me to laugh. "Then yes."
Within minutes our numbers were in each others phone's and I turned to walk back toward the house, my house.
"Are you walking? I could give you a ride." He saiid looking at the empty side of the parking lot I was walking towards.
"No thanks. I like walking and besides, like you said, we did just meet."I teased.
"Right."he smiled. God damn he had a beautiful smile."I'll talk to you later then."
"Okay...until later." I agreed before starting on my walk home.
Oh my gosh that's great that you met them! I wish I lived in CA just because it seems like that is where everything happens. Glad to see your chapter update. It gives nice insight on Charlotte's character and who Carly is. Wonder why she hasn't been around...guess I'll just have to wait and see. :)
