Give Me a Reason to Believe

Chapter 1

10 years. 10 fucking years I've lived in this hell hole. The only thing that's changed since I got here were my...'siblings.' As I grew up I watched as new little ones came and went. I was the only one who stayed. I was 'damaged goods' as I like to call it. No married couple in their right mind was going to adopt me, even if I was the only orphan left. Besides I only had about a year and a half till I could leave. 455 days to be exact.
"Charlotte, hurry up."Ms. Smith called from downstairs."you're going to be late and it's the last day."
I groaned as I grabbed my school bag. Today wasn't going to be a long day or anything but still, I didn't want to be at school. Everyone there would be celebrating the beginning to a vacation full of fun night. Me? I'd be stuck at I this damn orphanage because no one wanted me and because of that no classmates wanted to be friends with 'the freak' as they called me.
"The little ones are already waiting outside."Mrs.Smith smiled at me."they're really excited. Are you?"
Mrs. Smith was a pudgy old women. All the kids in the house called her Granny Smith because she was round....like an apple. The poor thing, 10 years I've been living with her and never once did she yell at me. Despite all the shit I've pulled, sure I felt remorse for it but it didn't stop me from doing things again.
"Yeh...sure."I muttered as I excited the house.
Sure enough all the little ones were sitting on the steps. They were all talking about what they planned on doing over the summer. I know what I had planned...my plans started tonight. I walked past the little ones and they automatically followed behind me. None of them liked me because I didn't like them. It wasn't that I didn't like them, I didn't want to grow attached to them. I already knew that I'd grow attached to them, only to have them get adopted and leave me. That was one thing I couldn't bear to go through.
After I dropped the little ones off I had a lot of free time left so I walked around the neighborhood. I watched as the small basic houses turned into larger wealthy ones. I had been in a lot of these houses. They were all similar to each other on the outside, but on the inside they were totally different.
As I passed them I could recall each when I went into the house and what I took. Most of the things I took were small and so they could go unnoticed. Vacation meant only one thing. I'd get to steal again and I already had my first house picked out. I was going to strike today.

Notes

Got a new Idea for a story...we'll see where this one goes. I'm still going to write I'm Not Ok.
This was just a spur in the moment thing.

Oh my gosh that's great that you met them! I wish I lived in CA just because it seems like that is where everything happens. Glad to see your chapter update. It gives nice insight on Charlotte's character and who Carly is. Wonder why she hasn't been around...guess I'll just have to wait and see. :)
