Famous Last Words
Sightings
Gerard POV
I'm walking from the music store back home. The day seems to be going normal. But I hate normal. Pretty much nothing interesting's happened all day.
The sun flashes in my eyes, and I shield my face from it. It almost stops me from noticing a tiny shadow down one of those thin pathways in between two buildings. You know, the ones no one ever use?
I take a quick look down the pathway, the only person there's a little girl. But I don't take much time to focus on her. That's when I see the reflection from the knife.
I do a double take, bumping into someone shoulder by accident as I step back to take a closer look. I was right. A girl, can't be much older than 12, maybe 13, holding a big kitchen knife. She's hesitating, her eyes flooded with tears, but no tears fall. She's holding them back. She doesn't bring the knife more than a couple inches away from her wrist. She's going to try and slit them. My eyes widen slightly, what would make a girl so young want to kill herself? She closes her eyes, bringing the knife closer. That's when I make my move. I quietly, but quickly go into the pathway and approach her. But she opens her eyes and sees me, her large amber eyes open wide in shock. I can tell she's panicking slightly, little kids aren't used to being approached by strangers.
But she presses the knife to the thin skin on her wrists, warning me. "D-don't c-c-come a-any c-c-closer. I-I'll do it."
I take a few steps back, raising my hands to show her I'm not gonna hurt her. Her shaky expression softens a bit when I do this. "Please." I say, taking another step back, kneeling down, so I'm slightly level height. But even sitting down, the girl looks shorter than normal, so there wasn't that much of a natural-looking way to become "even height" with her. But I know she's not planning on just stopping, so I get ready for anything she could do, except for what she ends up doing. Even when she lets me take the knife slowly from her hands and set it on
the ground, I know she's planning something. She's still gonna try and do it.
And she does. She grabs her backpack, and pretty much dashes out of the pathway the other direction at the speed of light. Of course I run after her. Even if I don't know a kid, I'd never let them kill themselves.
She's running to a bridge, and below the bridge is a highway. Man, this kid is fast. I have a hard time catching up with her, before she sees me again and begins climbing off of it. I catch my breath and run to her, I won't make any sudden movements, but before I know it, both of her hands let go of the bars, and she started to fall.
