The Only Hope For You Is Me

Chapter 2

When Frank arrived in the kitchen, he was greeted by a huge man, who smiled at him. “Hey Frankie, did you sleep well?” It was Mike, a 43 year old cook, who was the chef of the kitchen. For some reason he liked Frank and hugged him every morning. Even though Frank was confused about this behavior, he couldn’t help but smile, when he met the man with the short brown hair. “Okay, I guess.” “Well, how about you start to set the table?” Frank went to the giant cupboard, and pulled out as many plates as he could carry. “Be careful with that, boy!” an old lady told him. There were three other people in the kitchen, who were preparing the food. There were some scrambled eggs this day. The people, who had set up the camp, had brought lots of animals there, for example chickens. This was one of Frank other duties. Since he didn’t have a professional qualification, he helped taking care of the animals or worked on the fields. This was definitely not the life he had imagined. He had wanted to study biology or chemistry and avoid working outside. But it was not his choice anymore.
When the table was all set and the food ready, the other 50 people started to stream into the hall. They were of all ages, because the group, who had organized everything here, decided it would be the best to put all generations together. Frank sat down next to an old man who was talking to a lady in her forties, because he was certain, that they wouldn’t address him. When he quickly ate his food, he overheard a conversation. “They are picking up the last group from Chicago today.” “Really, how many are they?” “Only ten. Four of them will live in our house.” “Well, I hope, they have some useful qualification.”
Frank frowned. It was not his fault that he had just finished school, but some people kept complaining about how unhelpful the teenagers were. He stood up and carried his plate to the kitchen. Then he went to sit outside, until everybody had left. Afterwards he cleaned the dishes, with the people from earlier on this morning.

Oh junk! Sorry, I didn't see that you had already finished it...

Keep writing of course! You were asking what we wanted to read? Well, maybe you could go more in depth with the disease, like how it killed them, and how it's results effected Gerard/Frank on a deeper level. Just some suggestions though. Thanks :)

Please don't worry about your English! It's better than most of the American writers. :)
