Can You Stake My Heart?

"Rose! Wake up! RoOoOoOose!" Nina yelled in my ear, slapping my cheeks. I groggily opened my eyes and squinted up to see Nina hovering over me.

"Urgh, Nina... what?" I moaned, rubbing my face.

"Today we're going into the city to do some stuff!" She squealed and ran out the door.

"Be ready by 9:00!" I heard her call from the living room. I rolled over to check my phone. The time was 8:15. I sighed and pushed myself out of bed. As I slumped towards my closet, I thought about yesterday. Meeting Nina, Brandon, and Gerard. My face flooded with his smirk and I smiled to myself. Hopefully all of us would become really good friends.

I put on my favorite shirt that was said "I like cats". I threw on some black high waisted shorts and slipped on my black vans. My hair fell into a sloppy braid, and my makeup was only some eye-shadow and mascara. I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror and tried to ignore the scars that littered my arms. Most of them were faded pink, but others had caused my skin to raise, so it looked like something was stuck under there.

I shivered and pulled out my best concealer, and tried to hide my shame. When I got out of the bathroom and retrieved my wallet and phone, the time was 8:45. Pushing my door open, I saw Nina sitting on the kitchen counter, scrolling on her phone. When she heard my door open, she looked up.

"Hey! Ready to go?" She said, hopping down.

"Mhm. What are we doing today?" I asked her as we started towards the door.

"Oh, ya know. Some things." She smirked and skipped down the stairs and out the door.

I'm pretty sure that you weren't allowed to use your car around campus, but if you were going outside of the campus range they let you. I silently prayed we were going far enough away so we wouldn't have to walk.

I pulled the glass doors open to see Nina starting up her car. The warm breeze sent shivers up my spine. I know I was a winter person, but heat was nice. I jogged over to her car and got in the passenger side. Her car was a nice black Volvo. I silently admired it as she started to drive out of our dorm area and out to the entrance.

"Nina please, where are we going?" I begged after she had talked to the gate attendant and he let us out.

"Well, okay. I've always wanted a tattoo. So... I'm going to get one! Maybe you can get one too?" She said, looking over at me for a brief second. I nodded. I've always wanted a tattoo. Actually, I think I was going to get two.

"Yeah, Nina. I'll get one." I laughed and she smiled.

The rest of the car ride we talked about family, friends, pets and all that sorta stuff. I wasn't really ready to tell her about my past, so I let her do most of the talking. At one point, I texted Brandon Nina's number to surprise her. I laughed when she screamed as she got the text. I could already tell they were eventually going to go out. I felt a small pang of jealousy, though. I kinda wish someone liked me. I wanted to know what if felt like to be in a relationship. I shook the idea from my head as I felt the car stop in front of a small tattoo parlor. We both exited the car, riddled with excitement.

I opened the door and let Nina inside first. Smashing Pumpkins was playing quietly throughout the shop. I walked up to the counter with Nina, my steps in time with the beat of "Beautiful".

"Hi! My friend and I would like a tattoo?" She asked the man who sat behind the counter. He had large gauged ears and was painted with tattoos. I cleared my throat.

"Make that two for me, please."
