Can You Stake My Heart?

Tongue Tied and oh, so squeamish.

I set the few candles that I had found, around Gerard’s room; illuminating it with an eerie, yellow glow. Double checking the door to make sure it was locked, and making sure every light was off, I huddled up into a ball on Gerard’s bed.

“Oh god please let him be near.” I choked, tears threatening to spill from my eyes. I was so frightened. Why did he tell me to do this? Where they coming for me? I squeezed my knees close to my chest, hugging myself for comfort. The wind howled outside, making vicious sounds.

A steady drum of rain started to pound against the building. Rain always calmed me, but it did little for my nerves right now. I decided since I had class tomorrow, I would try and get some sleep. Carefully placing my shoes against the wall, I snuggled into the blankets which were so familiar to me now. His smell comforted me as I started to doze off; trying to throw away the haunting fear of what was happening.

I don’t know how long I was out, but I was awaked by the wind whipping the rain violently at the house. There was a loud bang, and it sounded like it was coming from outside the bedroom door. Sitting up, I clutched the blankets tightly in my firsts.

“G-Gee?” I shivered. I didn’t realize how cold it was until fear awoke me. There was another bang, this time on the bedroom door; like someone was trying to open it. I got up slowly, and cautiously walked towards the door.

“Gee?” I repeated, listening for more bangs. Instead of a crash or kick on the door, there was a knock. Smiling, I opened the door, knowing Gerard would never kick down a door on me.

“Gerard!” I exasperated. His dark hair gleamed in the candlelight. As he stepped forward, I noticed something was wrong. This man had lots of piercings, and tattoos on his throat. His hair was way longer than Gee’s. I quickly glanced behind him, noticing other people, hidden in the darkness. I saw their ruby eyes glow like gems. This man was not Gerard.

“You wish.” he wheezed. And that was the last thing I heard before he slapped me on my right cheek and I proceeded to fall into a world of black.

***Gerard’s POV***

The rain felt like knives stabbing my face, but I didn’t care. I knew that I didn’t have much time before they would get to her. It would only be about five more minutes until I reached the college, if I sped up, maybe 3. I quickened my pace, running along the empty city streets.

A billion thoughts buzzed through my head. “Why do you want to protect her? You shouldn’t even be her friend. Why do you even care?” My subconscious complained. But I already knew the answers to those stupid questions. I was doing all this because I liked her, maybe ever loved her. And I knew she would have to live to be happy. Vampires can’t be the ones to end her life so early.

I was soaked by now, but only seconds away from campus. My hair clung to my forehead, and the rest of it whipped violently at my speed. Finally, the campus came into view. Using the strength I had gotten from the cougar, I leapt over the big wall, clearing it by at least a few feet.

Landing hard in a mud puddle, I tried to recover my speed. Thunder boomed around me, and lighting crackled, filling the air with electricity. My dorm was only yards away. I crashed through the door, and basically flew up the stairs. I stopped suddenly and slipped to the floor, when I saw my door was open.

“No.” I whispered, dread consuming me. I ran through the door, only to see my bedroom door open as well. There were candles lit all around in the bedroom, but there was no sign of a struggle. Or her.

“ROSALIE!” I yelled, and at the same time another round of thunder shook the building. I screamed in anger and agony, falling to my knees. I gripped my hair, lowering my head. I had to find her. And the only way to do that was by her scent. I quickly recovered myself, and zoomed out of the dorm. Her scent would be washed away by the rain soon.

I knew that for Rosalie, finding her was a matter of life and death.

***Rosalie’s POV***

I woke up, and instantly moaned at the throbbing pain in my cheek. I kept my eyes closed, not wanting to see where I was. When I tried to reach down and touch the place of impact, my hand was stopped. I pulled my hand downwards, but it would not budge. I slowly realized that my hands were chained above me. Opening my eyes, I screamed in terror.

I was surrounded by them, the Goths. The vampires. I flinched, trying to turn away from the crowd surrounding me It was useless though; I was in the center of their circle. Only a few feet rested between them and me. I looked up, observing what bound me to the spot. My hands were in shackles that were attached by black chains to the ceiling. My breath became irregular as I went into a state of confusion and fear.

“Ehem.” A man cleared his throat and shot my head down. The man standing in front of me was stunning. He had beautiful golden hair with jutting collarbones and deep red eyes. He was tall, with long bony finger that were clasped together. A grim smile looked forced upon his stiff face.

I gulped.

“You guys are into some really kinky shit.” I nervously laughed. I heard a small snigger from the crowd that was silenced by a blow I could only recognize as the sound of a punch.

“Well what can we say? Some of us get bored, being centuries old.” The man cooed, in a muted, velvety voice as he walked towards me. I recoiled as he stretched a long arm out and caressed my cheek. His hands were ice cold, and I shivered.

“Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Amos, leader of these fine people. Or as some people would refer to them nowadays, ‘Goths’ or ‘emos’.” He scoffed, circling me. I tried to laugh, but a whimper is the only thing that escaped my throat. He seemed amused at my fear, so I tried to straighten up a bit and get my act together. I felt him twirling my hair, teasing me. I couldn’t stand it.

“Why did you do this to me?” I demanded, angrily. At least I could choke that out. He walked around to face me, grinning.

“A fiery one you are, mademoiselle!” He laughed, his lip twitching. I could see his long, gleaming fangs through his smile. “We have brought you to our lair for one purpose and one purpose alone. We wish to drink you dry, Rosalie. I don’t mean to sound harsh, but there is no better way to put it. We want you for your blood.” Amos said solemnly, brushing stray hairs from my eyes. I jerked my head away, trembling.

“W-why?” I croaked. He sighed, as if this pained him.

“Your blood, miss. Your blood is one of the rarest, sweetest, and tastiest blood known to my kind. AB-, I believe. One percent of Caucasians in the US have this blood type, making you,” He said, pointing to me, and drawing his face close to my ear. I winced, feeling his hot breath in my ear. “A treat. A dessert, you could say.” He whispered, moving down to my neck. “A treat you are, indeed.”

Amos bit at my neck, softly. Not enough to draw blood. I gasped, surprised, and tried to move away. I heard some of the crowd laugh at my reaction. He chuckled, pulling me back to him. His hands grabbed my waist, thrusting himself against me. I gritted my teeth as his grip tightened.

“Why?” I barely squeaked. He moved his face closer to mine, looking down at me with an evil smile.

“What was that, dear? I couldn’t hear you.” He purred, lowering his hand from my waist to far too close to my bottom. I cleared my throat, trying again.

“Why? Why didn’t you get me when I first came here?” I drawled. His smile turned into a look of disgust, and he pushed me away. I stumbled, all my weight going to my arms. Amos pouted, annoyed.

“Because He got to you first. We weren’t quick enough. You were under his protection; we made a treaty of peace, which meant anyone or anything he cared about couldn’t be harmed, and the same went for us. When three of my idiots decided to take you for themselves, they had to be punished.” He growled, motioning to the back of the room. The crowd parted in that direction and I screamed at the sight.

Jane’s head, along with the other two men’s (who I could not remember) heads rested on a marble table. Their eyes were drained of any color. Where their heads disconnected from their body, ice and frost took the place of blood and flesh. Jane’s delicate porcelain skin was cracked and flaking, like an old doll. I screamed again, tears rushing out of my eyes.

“Now now, it’s okay. That’s what happens to rule breakers, they should’ve known.” He murmured, putting a bony finger to my lips. I shut up; I didn’t want to be a rule breaker.

“So now, with Gerard gone and not caring about you, I decided it was time for you to be mine.” He smiled, putting a hand on my cheek. His words struck me worse than any slap could.

“He doesn’t… care about me?” I whispered. Fresh tears flew out of my eyes in rivers down my face.

“Oh, don’t be sad. We heard him ourselves. He didn’t want to be your friend, your lover. He didn’t want anything to do with you. Why do you think he left?” He said with mock sadness. I searched my mind for an answer, but couldn’t come up with anything. At my silence, he nodded his head, showing me he was right.

“And now, with that cursid man gone, I have you all to myself.” Amos crowed, stroking my arm. I was too shocked to react. Gerard didn’t care about me? He wasn’t really coming to get me?

“Away! Away with all of you! Don’t expect any leftovers!” He yelled at the crowd of vampires. They quickly scrambled off, revealing the room I was prisoner in. I think it was a cave, judging by the stone walls. They were smooth and clean cut though. They must have worked on this place. Candles with red flames lit the room in a muted red shade.

“Now, why don’t we have a little fun before I have to kill you?” He said, closing in on me. He stroked my arms, moving his cold hands upwards until they met with my shackled wrists. He gripped onto them, as he moved his face to mine. He gently bit my ear, fangs threatening to break the skin.

“N-no, please don’t!” I pleaded, but he ignored my comment. I heard thunder boom in the distance. Amos moved from my ear down to my neck once more, kissing it. I squinted my eyes shut, holding back screams.

His hands moved from my arms and slithered their way down to my abdomen, where they slowly inched towards my chest. I broke out in sweat. “Not like this.” I thought. “Not like this.”

“God, I’ve wanted you since you first stepped out of your car.” He moaned in between kissing my neck. His hands stopped, centimeters from their destination, and broke away from my neck. I opened my eyes, only to see his right in front of my face.

“You don’t have to die, you know. I can make you a vampire,” He whispered, smiling. I shook my head in shock. “Once you were dead, I could bring you back to be like me. And then you can be mine, forever.” He breathed, inching towards my face.

“No!” I hissed, and spit right in his face. He recoiled, his face contorted with rage. The anger melted away into a smile, eying me seductively.

“You know that only turns me on, right?” He laughed, resuming his too-close-for-comfort stance against my body. I looked away in disgust, trying to see a way out of this, but the only exit I saw was a gate to my far left. I could hear rain coming from there, and I knew that was the only way out.

He turned my face away from the gate harshly. He gazed into my eyes, longingly. His mouth inched towards mine, and I bit my bottom lip, preparing for the worst.

Just as I could feel his breath on my lips, there was a crash. We both whipped around at the sound. The gate was on the floor, a huge dent in the center. In the red light, stood a dripping wet Gerard. Lighting flashed behind him, illuminating every detail of him. His body was hunched over in rage, and his face contorted into the emotions of anger and hate. His eyes burned like a roaring fire fueled by the devil himself.

“AMOS!” Gerard shouted, pointing at him. Amos stepped away from me, and put his hands behind his back daintily. “Get. Away. From. Her.” Gerard snarled. I tried to say something, but I could form no words.

“Ah, Gerard. How lovely for you have decided to join us this evening.” Amos said, bowing. Gerard roared and charged at Amos. Before Amos had even straightened up, Gerard had knocked him to the ground. Amos started at Gerard calmly. He almost looked bored.

“She was fair game Gerard. Don’t be upset at me when it’s your own fault.” He sighed in annoyance. Gerard growled a low, throaty sound.

“She is mine. We made a deal. You do not harm her. When I’m away, when I’m here, when she’s away; you NEVER! let me see you or any of your coven near her again!” Gerard shouted. “And don’t you feed her lies about me. I care about her more than I care about myself.” He whispered low, but I could still hear it. My heart lifted at his words. So he did care.

“Fine. Release me immediately. I understand our terms.” Amos hissed through his teeth. Gerard flew up from the ground, and Amos got up slowly. Before turning to leave, he looked at me.

“We will meet again. You are meant to be mine.” He said, and then disappeared. Gerard yelled in anger at his words. My eyes were wide with fear as the reality of what had happened to me set in. I started sobbing, and Gerard turned to me. His look of rage turned into concern and sadness. He slashed at the chains that binded me, and my hands fell to my sides. Immediately, he embraced me. I buried my head in the crook of his neck, tears streaming from my eyes.

“Shhh.” He whispered, rubbing my back. I sniffed, pulling away and wiping my nose. The fire in his eyes had now dulled to glowing embers. I pushed some sopping wet hair out of his face.

“You saved me. Again.” I laughed shakily, and he smiled. His body tensed as we heard a scream of rage from a nearby hallway. He let go of me to put me on his back. I clung to him, resting my head on his back.

“We have to get out of here. We’re on their land, which means they’ll be coming after us.” He told me. I nodded, hoping he could feel it against his back. The last thing I saw before we exited the cave was Jane’s cold, dead eyes staring at me.

You could have it to where he turns her... Just stein' she wouldn't die and he wouldn't want her blood, but she would continue to smell like a human because she's special or somethin' (I'm just saying this you don't have to do this at all)

;-;
