Did Your Mom Just Say That?
I stopped shy of my front yard. "Maybe i should go in alone... if you know what I mean," I said trying to not hurt his feelings. He nodded understanding that I just wanted to face my mother's rathe alone. I sighed and walked in the house with my head hanging down.
"Anya where have you been," my mother asked hands on her hips, "And why are you still in yesterdays clothes. Your attitude lately has been very poor young lady."
"Sorry Mom I just, I got up really early to go to..." I looked around hoping for something I could come up with. I looked at the television and saw the movie Bring It On. "I wanted to go to the cheer-a-thon and I got up late so I just left looking like this." She could totally tell that I was saying nothing except bullshit.
"Oh well next time sweetheart you really should look better you know boys go to that. Cute boys. You have to look your best for them..." She said going on and on for what felt like an hour until I finally said I would do better next time. I went in my room and shut the door. I locked it and slid down the back to a seated position. Why did this always happen with her. I sat there for a few minuets and then remembered what I was supposed to be doing.
I went to the window and opened it the rest of the way. "Gerard," I said as quietly as possible while still being loud enough for him to hear. He turned and looked at me then slightly smiled. He walked over throwing his cigarette on the ground.
"I thought you wanted to change," he smiled looking at my still yesterdays wardrobe. I laughed and dropped my head.
"Yeah not there quite yet. You can come in," I stated stepping away from the window. He jumped in as I walked over to my closet. He saw the guitar sitting on the ground. He walked over and picked it up. He held it up and pointed at me with a questioning look on his face. I chuckled and shock my head no. Then there was a knock on my door.
"Anya, who is in there with you?" my mother asked. I dropped what was in my hand and went toward my CD player.
"No one I just was reading a funny article in the newspaper."
"Oh Anya you really need to stop reading so much." Gerard looked shocked to hear my mother say that. I shrugged.
"Yeah I'll try mom," then I turned on a random discarded CD. Gerard walked over and whispered in my ear.
"Did your mom really just say that to you?"
"Yeah she did, she's always like that." He pulled me close to him and kissed my neck. My eyes automatically closed and I was only thinking of how he was making me feel at that moment. He lead me over to the bed where we made out for a while. Finally, I pulled back into reality and I gently pushed him away. He rolled off of me and sat at the end of the bed. I got up and sat at the edge of the bed. "Gerard what are we doing?" I asked praying he would just tell me the truth.
"I don't know, kissing, just messing around," he said not making eye contact. I got up and grabbed some clothes and changed in the closet.
"Well I don't want to lose us. We are still just us right?" I asked returning to the room. He smiled and looked at me.
"Yeah we are still us. Let's go get some food."
