Aww Pickles, My Neighbor is A Hottie

Shopping Spree

***Karie's POV***

I sat there holding Bryan in my arms. He looked scared out of his mind. I felt bad. I left him here alone with the idea in my head that my mom could have came home. I should have been more cautious. I picked up Bryan and put him in his bed. He snuggled up again, stopped shaking, and fell asleep. I sat there knowing that if I left, I would have to deal with my mom. I didn't feel like being yelled at quite yet. I rubbed Bryan's back while thinking. Gerard had completely kicked me out of his life. My mom wanted nothing to do with me. Maybe I could move out with the extra money I had. I could get a small apartment and live with Bryan. He seemed like someone I could make breakfast for and wouldn't mind it. He was also homeless. If I left him here, he would be on the streets again. I decided to tell my mom the plan. Well, I would tell her after she stopped screaming at me. I headed down the stairs to see my mom sitting at the kitchen table with a beer bottle in one hand and a cigarette in the other. I decided to sit next to her. I strolled over there, with long slow steps. I sat down next to her.

"I think I might move." I said while looking at the table.

"You left once, why not again?" She fake laughed. I bit my lip.

"You have been telling me to leave all this time, why do you care now?" I asked.

"Because I never wanted you to leave! I was just trying to show you that growing up is good! If you leave, I have no one." She started to sob. I felt like complete and utter shit. This comment made me feel worse then anything anyone had every told me.

"I could leave Bryan with you. He needs a warm home with food. I know you don't like little kids, but he is a sweetheart. He makes you laugh and smile. You just have to warm up to him." I said trying not to cry. She shook her head.

"It's not the same. I bet the little boy can be the best person in the world, but he isn't my daughter. We never had the best relationship, but I love you." She was wiping her tears. Ouch. That hit right in the heart.

"I love you too." I sighed and headed back upstairs. I couldn't leave now. Not after that conversation. I was a ball full of hate. I was going to leave my mom alone and in a huge house. She would have never made it. I was only thinking of my own needs. I needed to take a break from life. I needed to go shopping. I know what you are thinking. What? Shopping? Well I never smoked and never did drugs. I barley drank after high school so what calmed me down was shopping. It didn't have to be shopping for me. I wanted to get Bryan some actual clothes. I decided to make breakfast while waiting for Bryan to wake up.

"So we are going to the mall? Can I get cool clothes?" He asked. I nodded and smiled. We finished up the eggs I made and started to head out. We went outside.

"I forgot my phone." I said as soon as the car started. I ran back inside to see my phone on the coffee table near the front.

"Here." I turned to see my mom handing me two hundred dollars. My mouth dropped.

"Why?" I asked.

"Like you said, this boy, Bryan, was homeless. He deserves it." She smiled at me. I embraced her in a hug. I could feel the tightness in her muscles calm down as soon as I hugged her. I thanked her again and went back into the car. We headed straight to the mall. The first place he wanted to go to was GAP. This was fair enough since he was only six, or I think around that age. He picked out some jeans and tees and we paid and then left.

"Where to next?" I asked. He put his hand to head and thought.

"Mommy really liked this band called...A Day To Remember. I want to get a shirt that says that to remember her." He grinned at me. I nodded. The only place I knew that sold band merch was Hot Topic. I went in there around six times. Each of the times was to get hair dye. We walked over and he picked out some tees. They said things like 'Pierce The Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, A Day To Remember, and All Time Low.' Fair enough. We bought the tees with the money my mom gave to us. The last thing we needed was shoes.

"Any shoes you want in particular?" I asked.

"Converse." He answered. Ew.

"How about vans?" I offered.

"Converse."

"Vans."

"Converse."

"Fine." I rolled my eyes. He did a victory dance. We bought the shoes. It was around noon now. We decided to grab something to eat and then go back home.

Today was successful.
