Runaway Scars and The Getaway Mile

Chapter 13: Anytime You Want

I melted into his arms, pushing my body against his and letting the fierceness of his kiss penetrate my entire being.
His hand tightened in my hair and he leant in harder, deepening the kiss we shared.

I hadn't given Party a kiss, he'd taken it mercilessly and I was enjoying it more than anything else I could ever remember experiencing.

His body pressed me into the speaker even harder and I let out a small moan, in moments we'd both gone from normal to completely feral and I was loving it.

There was the tingling sensation of one
of his hands running up my back, under my jacket and I shuddered, gasping in a breath.

At that moment his tongue entered my mouth, the kiss somehow managed to become even rougher with me biting his lip, him groaning in response.

I ran my hands up his chest, locking my arms around his neck and tangling a hand in his blood red hair.

My heart pounded out its own erratic beat, almost matching mine, his heart thudding against my chest, his breath came in hard gasps with him still slightly puffed from being on stage.

In no way was the kiss hurried or half hearted, each second of it was frenzied though.

His tongue roughly colliding with mine and the rough skin of his palms brushing over my back, sending shivers through me each time.

I never wanted to let go of Party, it was hard enough just thinking about kissing him but the real thing was almost killing me especially when I every inch of his body was pressed against mine.
Toe to toe, hip to hip, chest to chest and lips against lips.

How anyone could be this perfect I didn't know, I've seen him without most of his clothing and I hadn't noticed any flaws, he had the kissing skills and personality to match.

He was as close to the perfect man as you could possibly get without cheating nature, even then it was hard to believe he was real.

"If there weren't people here...I could have you." Party murmured, taking the opportunity to gasp in a breath before I shut him up with another bite on the lip.

"Guys, you mind quitting with the sucking face, at least here, please?" I recognised Kobra's voice but refused to listen to him, I had other things on my mind.
Like wondering if Party was just as perfect without his shorts.

"I swear to God I'll throw a bucket of water over you." Party chuckled for a second, still not letting go or drawing back and as far as I was concerned if he was sticking with it then I was as well.

His fingers dug into my back and I moaned against his lips, making him hold me tighter.

Then it was all over.

At first it was just a cool lick of water, the next moment Party and I were drenched from head to toe in water.
My hair hung over my face and dropped onto the ground which was a buzzkill and a half.

I looked up, pushing my hair out of the way and giving Kobra the best murderous expression I could possibly manage.

"The fuck man?" Party complained, taking his now waterlogged jacket off as I wrung my hair out.

"Don't blame me, I gave you a warning." You've got to be fucking kidding, I didn't think he was going to literally throw a bucket of water on us.

I thought it was a friggen joke!

"Can I look now?" I turned to look at Girl who was standing by the stage with her eyes covered.

Okay now I feel a little bad, I'd probably just ruined the kid for life with her having to see Party and I kissing pretty damn hard.
I'd still do it again if I got the chance.

"Yeah, you're good, Bluejay." I told her and she slowly moved her hands as if I might be lying.

"What were you doing?" Girl asked curiously, "that was worse than Ghoul and Sunshine." She added and I tried to imagine how on earth Party Poison and I could be worse.

Obviously I hadn't seen it from the same point of view was everyone else.

Someone started making gagging sounds and I looked at Ghoul who was pretending to throw up, hypocrite.

"Don't judge when you can relate." I almost yelled at him, feeling completely offended at how everyone was reacting.

I could understand how Bluejay freaked out but it was insulting when the rest of the Killjoys acted like that.

They've all had some experience in that region, Ghoul's been with more than one person at a time for heavens sake!

"I'm not but you two were practically," Kobra put his hands over Girl's ears, "fucking just then, feel free do to it any other time but not in front of her."

I sighed, he was kinda right, I'd prefer it if he didn't have to throw a bucket of water of us first.
Seriously a simple 'you're mentally scarring an eight year old' would suffice.

"Sorry." I crouched down and apologised to her, she gave me a smile meaning that she had no problem and followed that up with a casual shrug.

"Uh, Electric, how about you take Bluejay to a game booth. I need to talk to the guys for a moment." Party suggested, hands in jean pockets, his shoulders slightly hunched and his demeanour completely changed.

"Alright." I mumbled, feeling a little confused as to he'd gone from happy and grinning to quiet and introverted.

"What do you wanna do?" I asked her when she grabbed my by the hand and pulled me away.

"Party really likes you." She told me, choosing to ignore the question and talk about something different.

"I guess he does a little." I mumbled, feeling a little weird getting told by an eight year old that a guy liked me, at her age she should be worrying about boys having cooties.

"No he really likes you. Most of the time when someone takes out the Scarecrow he wanted he'll chuck a fit and start shooting stuff." As absurd as it sounds I could completely imagine Party going spack.

I snorted at the thought and Girl looked up at me with a grin, she thought it was funny too.

"It's nothing compared to what Kobra does, next time you see him talk about him being Party's little bro." I actually remember Poison telling me not to do that but I have to admit I really want to see what he'll do.

"Do you think you could show me now to shoot a ray gun?" She asked, completely changing the subject and confusing me for a moment.

"Uh sure I guess." I really don't think it was a good idea for me to hand an eight year old a beamer but she should have some idea what she's doing.

Judging by how comfortable they were around each other Bluejay would have been friends with the Zone 6 Killjoys for a long time so she should know how to use a blaster without my help right?

They would have taught her how to protect herself.

"Rad!" She grabbed my arm, dragging me across the fair grounds with surprising strength from someone her size, finally stopping when a crop of rocks came into view.
They weren't that far away and the glow of the light from the fair was enough to make them visible.

Girl held her hand out for the zap, expecting me to give it to her, well the ray gun doesn't have a sign on it saying 'keep away from children' so it's probably alright.

If she doesn't know how to turn off the safety then I'll take the gun back and suggest we do something else.

"Here." I gave her the gun, I shouldn't be doing this, I haven't been firing a blaster for more than a week and I am so far from being qualified.

Hey maybe I'll get lucky and she'll accidentally shoot a drac or maybe Revolver Kill, that'd be fucking awesome.

He wouldn't even show up here though and I doubt he'd want to come near me after what I did, the man would have to be spinnin' a cycle so hard.

Without a word Girl clicked the safety off, so I won't have to take it from her then.

"See that rock far out there? The kinda red one?" I pointed and she nodded, "I want you to aim at that, look down the barrel, take a deep breath and pull the trigger." She nodded again, adjusting her footing, focusing on the rock and taking aim.

"Hey stop, no, you're not doing that!" Party yelled, jogging up, Girl groaned and dropped the gun by her side.

"Bluejay, what did I tell you about mucking around with zaps?" He immediately started scolding and the moment he stopped she tried defending herself.

"But Paaaaartyyy," she whined, "Electric was gonna show me what to dooo." I've never noticed how little kids drew out their words when upset but then again she's the first kid I've met since I've been here.

"I don't care, please just try to understand that you aren't ready to use one of these yet." He dropped down, crouching low enough to be on eye level with her.

"Why? Electric's been around these things a lot less then I have and you taught her now to shoot." As she talked to him Party took the beamer away, still looking at her.

"Because, I don't want you to ever need to fire one. Just think of other things okay? They aren't toys, pretend having a zap is like a job, it looks fun when everyone else has one but the moment you do everything goes bad." Even if she didn't understand it I did completely.

Party Poison was trying to explain to her that once you had a gun your childhood was over.

A blaster wasn't something you had simply because you wanted to have it, it was the meaning between being here and being in the ground.
You used it to protect yourself from people that'd ghost you otherwise.

Girl would be safe as long as she didn't have one, I don't know draculoids and Scarecrows too well but I knew they wouldn't hurt a kid, especially an unarmed one.

Why would they want to, if kids are as stupid as everything thinks they are then BLI would believe you could sway their opinions.
They wouldn't be considered real people, just soldiers in their war waiting to happen.

BLI would have a damn good reason to dust me for example, even if I didn't have my ray gun with me I'd be ended, I knew that much.
I'd sass off too much and probably swear my head off as well.

It wouldn't be that hard to imagine actually, a bunch of dracs trying to catch me while I made smartarse comments and screamed like a complete pansy.

Ha, I just realised that was exactly what happened when I ran into Party and the gang.
Then again I'd been running away from them, not being dragged back but who knows, the future will always be there.

"Fine." She said, stomping off, presumably back to the gang, looking less that impressed.

"I feel like a horrible person when I have to tell her no." Party sighed, standing up and rubbing the back of his neck, guilt radiating off him.

"Blue just doesn't get it, she's just a kid, not a warrior. Because she's been with us for so long she thinks she's a part of this war, this permanent firefight but she's not." Party walked over to me, my newly painted gun held loosely in his hand.

"She's so precious ya know? There haven't been any other children born out here in the Zones. She's the first and the only one. All the kids are in Bat City." He sighed loudly, clicking the safety on and putting my gun in the holster at my hip

He leant forward and placed his head on my shoulder.
He was tired, it was obvious.

"I understand, she's like a little sister." I put my hand on his hair, trying to comfort him, I didn't like seeing Party upset, especially when he could be such an upbeat person.

"I just want to keep her safe. The second she fires a gun is the second she loses everything she could be, she's not a kid anymore. I saw what it did to Kobra and it'll do it to her." He murmured quietly, hooking his thumbs in my short pockets.

"As long as you and the guys are around I know she'll be fine, you've done good so far and I can help too." I didn't really know since it wasn't like I had any idea about 'girl stuff' but I'd have to have some instincts towards those things.

"Thanks, 'Lectric." Party mumbled, pulling back and smiling softly at me, I could feel my heart melting in my chest.

We briefly paused, him looking at me, that damn beautiful, brain boiling, heart fluttering smile still on his face.

He slowly leant towards me, my eyes closing and my breath already picking up.

So gently it didn't even seem to be real at first Party pressed his lips against mine, it wasn't frantic, wild or out of control like it'd been earlier, it was just a perfect, ever so slightly hyperventilation inducing kiss.

It was enough, more than enough, to make me sigh at the feeling of his mouth against mine but it ended, too soon.

"We should probably leave for that stunt show, if we don't Kobra and Ghoul will have a fit." I giggled slightly, remembering Girl's earlier description of Party when he was angry.

"Alright." I groaned, not wanting to stop kissing now that it was finally an option.

Party laughed, tugging on my shorts briefly before stepping back and settling with my hand.

"I know but think of it this way. You get to shoot at Ghoul."

~~~
Well we didn't get to do the stunt show like the guys had hoped for so much.
Unfortunately it'd gotten cancelled because not only had the Zone 5 Fun Fair been crashed, so had the stunt show.
A couple of waveheads had gotten ghosted but that was about it so instead of getting to have some fun we just headed back to camp.
The show had been rescheduled for next week which was good and gave them more time to rehearse as well. Yay, less chances of me getting killed now.
Sunshine had gotten a lift back to her Zone and the rest of us had simply traveled in the car.
At the moment we were getting ready to go to sleep for the night, I'd managed to force down a can of Power Pup which was still the most disgusting thing in the world.
Ghoul, Kobra, Jet and Party were telling me about all the things they've seen and done.
Bluejay was curled up in her sleeping bag, fast asleep without a care in the world and completely ignorant of all the swearing and slightly horrifying tales being told.
"-So this dracs got Kobra in a headlock, he has yet to put a shirt on by the way. Jet's passed out on the bar with two droids still trying to make out with him and he's totally drooling on himself. I'm trying to get my beamer but I've had about ten Acid Bullets, so I'm no fuckin' help. And -hehe- then there's Party who is stark naked and-"
"No stop, no more." Party Poison cut Ghoul off by holding a hand up and giving him a look that could crumble a rock.
Despite not wanting to I immediately began laughing, harder than I ever had before. I know they didn't mean for it to be funny but I couldn't help it, the whole situation seemed to absurd.
"It was just getting to the good part." Kobra said, managing to stifle a yawn at the end of his words.
"Do you mean the bit with the binoculars or how you knocked out the drac with a table?" I feel like they're making a joke but I know they're in fact not to this is a little weird.
"Both." Kobra started laughing and fell back on his sleeping bag, I really want to know the story now.
"Remember that time when Jet managed to ghost fifteen dracs singlehandedly?" The group began to smile, nodding and laughing just like they been for the past half hour.
"Did you guys see Electric tonight? Chicka, if you keep that up you'll have rep in no time." Party grinned at me, looking completely perfect with his vibrant hair messy.
My heart got faster and he inched closer to me so I could feel him at my side.
I really wanted to throw him down on the sleeping bag and have my way with him but I was in no mood to deal with the groups comments.
"You've bagged Party, that's reputation enough." He said, following it up with some very suggestive eyebrow waggling.
"Just no bagging him around here, especially when we're trying to sleep." Jet muttered, for some reason thinking that we'd actually do that.
"Okay on that note we should get some sleep. We have another day tomorrow and all that crap." Party waved his hand around, gesturing for them to go to their beds.
Kobra and Ghoul groaned when they stood up, Jet didn't have much to say and decided to remain silent instead.
I continued sitting next to Party for an extra moment, not wanting to leave just yet but knowing I needed the sleep no matter now little I wanted it.
With a long, frustrated sigh I stood up and took a step in the direction of my bed on the opposite side of the campsite.
"'Night, Revenge." Party stood up, grabbing my hand and pulling me back, his rough lips brushing against mine.
A smile tugged up the side of my mouth, a warm fuzzy feeling consuming me.
At the sounds of the guys protesting Party and I unwillingly broke apart, the last thing I got from him before sliding into bed was his hand squeezing mine gently.
~~~

I woke up to shivers wracking my body, the cold night air biting into my skin.
It wouldn't have mattered if I had my jacket on, I was going to feel the freezing night air whether I liked it or not.

Currently I wasn't liking it.

It felt as if my breath should come out in white puffs and my teeth were chattering.

How the fuck could the desert, the stinking hot desert, be this freezing. This is horrible, I feel like I'm going to become a human ice block, the fire's no help either.

It might do some good if I was closer.

I unzipped the side and climbed it of my freezing cold bed, shaking as I walked over to the fire that'd almost gone out.

The barely glowing embers did absolutely nothing for me and I doubted I'd be able to feel it unless I put my hand in the fire, which I wouldn't be doing at all.

"Are you okay, sugar?" I turned around to see Party who'd propped himself up on an elbow and was looking at me with what looked line a freshly used notebook beside him.

"Y-y-yeah, I'm just c-c-cold." I had trouble getting words out through the chattering of my teeth, Party's expression softened.

"Aw sweetheart, come here." He said almost too quietly for me to hear him and I slowly walked over.

"Y-you're n-n-not cold?" I asked and he shook his head, for Gods sake he was wearing sliced up T-shirt, how could he be fine.

"I've built up an immunity, you'll get used to it as well." I nodded and Party flipped the top sheet of his sleeping bag back as if he planned to get out.

"Come on, get in. I don't want you to freeze to death." I really wanted to say no because it'd undoubtedly end up with more inappropriate jokes from the guys.
Then I fully registered the look on his face, it was warm and I knew I'd hurt his feelings if I said no and I'd probably die if I had to spend another hour shaking.

Like a snow-woman defrosting I carefully lowered myself and crawled into the sleeping bag next to Party, immediately sighing at the warmth radiating from him.

"Damn it kiddo, you're freezing." He muttered, zipping the sleeping bag up and wrapping his arms around me.

I snuggled into his chest, trying to make up my mind on what I enjoyed more.
His heat slowly warming me up or the wonderful, fuzzy feeling of him being pressed tightly against me.

"I f-feel like my lips are going to fall off." I told him, inciting a brief laugh before his arms tightened, making my heart beat faster.

"I know how to fix that." I looked up at Party, my breath catching in my throat when I registered the look on his face.

He brought his lips mine, hard, like a car colliding with a wall and it sent a shudder through my body.
His hands snaked up my shirt, warm palms against my skin, leaving a tingling feeling behind.

I pressed myself against him, he wasn't holding me tight enough. A sigh escaped my lips when his hand ran through my hair, tugging on it gently.

Carefully to not interrupt our kissing I brought a hand up and trailed my fingers across his shoulder.
Instead of the smooth skin I'd expected it was rough, bumpy and felt strange.

I wanted to ask him about it but decided to keep my mouth shut instead or open actually since I had no plans to stop kissing him for a while.
I just didn't want a conversation in the way.

"Party, could you keep me warm tomorrow night?" I asked quietly, he was the only thing between me and the cold desert and I'd rather share with him than be by myself.

"'Lectric, I'll keep you warm anytime you want."
