Kiss The Morning Sky Goodbye

Chapter 8

Gerard's POV

After Frank practically kicked me out of his room I just stared at the closed door behind me. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't figure out why he just did what he did. I've been nothing but nice and kind to him, I saved his and his friends' life! Tell me..what in the hell did I do wrong there?!

A heavy sigh escaped my lips as I slid down the wall, opposite of his room. I brought my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them as I rested my head on top. What's gonna become of me now? I mean..I know I'm going to be turned into a vampire...against my will.. but what else? I'll no longer be Gerard Way, the human. I'll no longer be treated like trash. I'll actually be respected for once. But..at what price?

Even more innocent lives will be lost because of what I'm going to become. Tears began to form in my eyes as I imagined all of the families that will be missing fathers, mothers, and children in the future, all because I decided to be brave.

All of a sudden, a loud crash came from Frank's room, followed by a string of loud growls and profanities. Is this something else I'll have to look forward to: Pure and utter destruction when something doesn't go my way, when I get pissed off? Great...

Frank's bedroom door swung open, causing me to jump. My eyes widened as his black eyes landed on me, a sadistic smile spreading across his face. He was about to come towards me when Gabriel stepped in his way, placing his hand on Frank's chest to stop him. “Fucking let go of me, Gabriel! I'll kill you!!”

“Go to the basement, Frank. There's cages full of humans who deserve to be killed. This one doesn't, now go.” Gabriel said as he pushed him in the direction of the stairs. Frank stared at me for a few moments before he stormed down the stairs, more growls leaving his lips. “Don't worry about him. Whatever he's pissed about will blow over in a few days.” Gabriel said as he extended his hand. I flinched slightly as he held it out in front of me. “I'm not going to bite, Gerard..”

I gulped and slowly took his hand as I stood up and gained my balance. “S-sorry for acting weird. I'm still not used to y-...vampires helping me.” He nodded, a small smile spreading across his face. “I imagine it's something that's not going to come easily either.”

He nodded once again as he patted my back. “I can understand where you're coming from. You being raised to fear our kind your whole life and now being thrown into the same life..it can be a bit too much for some. But you have no reason to fear any vampire, except Ms. Drama Queen.” He said as he rolled his eyes. He then motioned for me to follow him up to the roof, where he brought me before the werewolf attack.

“I thought Vampires hated all humans, no matter what they did?” I asked as I looked over the edge, seeing other vampire guards cleaning up the few werewolf corpses laying on the ground.

Gabriel shrugged as he too looked down with me. “In some cases, I suppose you could be right. But this one? No. You saved the life of a royal. You killed two werewolves on your own. Not many humans would have done that, much less risk their own lives. That's why they've decided to reward you.”

I shook my head and sighed. “But that's the thing, it's not a reward to me.” Gabriel furrowed his eyebrows before he let out a sigh and nodded, showing that he understood. “I mean..I don't want to become a monster.” I said, trying to keep the tears at bay

“Not all of us are monsters. There's...a select few who don't agree with how things are going with the takeover. But I see where you're coming from.” He then motioned for me to sit down beside him on a stone bench that sat next to the roof entrance. “I wasn't too thrilled on being turned either.”

I could tell that I was in for a story, so I sat back and got as comfortable as I could on a stone bench. “I was much like you. I was brought here about twenty years ago to be a servant. I too was ripped away from my family.” He sighed and rested his head back against the wall as he continued. “I basically had the same responsibilities as you do..well..did. Eventually, the family grew to like me. They trusted me. And well..here I am.” He then looked down at me and sighed. “So I know, more than anyone here what you're going through, Gerard.” A single tear finally fell down his cheek as he looked away once more. “Just..when it happens..when they turn you, be brave..” I gulped and nodded as I too rested my head against the wall.

~*~*~Time Lapse- Next Night~*~*~

Frank's POV

I dropped the pathetic human's corpse at my feet as I drank the last drop. A low growl resonated off the stone walls of the basement as I looked around at all the now empty cages. I spent the rest of the night and all day down here, taking my rage out on the humans down here. They had it coming anyways..

Blood covered basically every inch of me, from head to toe, some old and dried, and some from the fresh kill I just made. My eyes still held their black color as a significant amount of rage was still pent up inside of me.

I slowly turned around and headed back up the stairs and out of the basement. Someone would clean up my mess later and a new batch of humans would be there within a matter of hours. I wasted no time in going up to my room and into the en suite bathroom.

My clothes were off of me within a blink of an eye as I practically ripped them off of me in a fit of rage. As I stood there underneath the steady, hot stream of the shower, all I could do was think. Think of how Sean is doing and what exactly he's becoming. Think of what's going to happen tonight and how much I don't want that to happen..

After a good thirty minutes, my anger has subsided so I stepped out of the shower. I grabbed a towel off of the rack and quickly dried myself off before wrapping it losely around my waist. My dresser was sitting across the room in a heap, shattered to a million pieces. A sigh left my lips as I walked over to it and grabbed a pair of boxers, jeans and shirt from the pile.

Once I was dressed and looking somewhat decent, I left my room and made my way down into the kitchen, where I immediately opened the fridge and retrieved a bottle of blood, downing it quickly. I know I shouldn't be thirsty..but I am. So fuck you.

“Frank.” I looked up to the the 'not-so-happy' face of my father in the door way. I just rolled my eyes and shut the fridge door before leaning against the counter top. “Your behavior towards Gerard last night was inexcusable! He saved your life and Sean's! And on top of that, you killed every human we had on stock! Why are you this angry?!” He asked, his voice getting louder and louder with each word he spoke.

“Hmm..maybe it has something to do with the fact that I couldn't protect myself, that a human had to do it for me. Not just any human, either, a slave. OUR slave! Now tell me how that doesn't belittle myself? That I..the vampire prince can't even protect myself and Sean..but a human can?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest as I cocked my head slightly.

My father scoffed and shook his head. “You need to get out of your selfish ways, son.” He growled as he walked closer to me. “Because when the time comes for Gerard to be turned..you're going to be the one to do it. It's about time you sired a vampire. Now's a good a time as any.”

A loud growl erupted from my throat as he finished speaking. “I have to do WHAT?!?!” I pushed myself off of the counter, anger and rage once again filling my body as I clenched my hands into fists. “I'm not turning him!”

“I'm afraid you don't really have a choice, Frank. You will be the one changing him. I don't want to hear any more on the matter, understand?!” I just growled as my black eyes stared into his hazel ones. “I said do you understand?!”

I looked down and growled again. No matter how much I didn't want to..I had to obey him. “Yes. Sir.” I said through clenched teeth. I can't believe what he's asking me to do, even after I told him how I felt about it!

“Good. You have twenty minutes to prepare.” He said before he turned and walked out of the room. I growled and banged my fist against the granite counter top, cracking it. I took in a deep breath, exhaling in low growls as I tried to calm myself down, which probably won't work. I mean..I've never sired anyone before, and I had never actually planned on it because of what it meant. All of the vampire guards and slaves here were sired by my father. He told me that a certain bond is created when a human is turned. If the bond didn't exist, the vampires he created would just roam about and not give a shit about him or us. So basically..Gerard and I will be bonded. What a great fucking life this will be.

I growled and pushed off of the counter and walked out of the kitchen. I made my way into the living room, groaning as I saw mother and father speaking to Gerard, their hands on his shoulders, almost in a reassuring manner. Should I be the one being comforted and reassured?!

“Ah, Frank. Come.” My mother said as she motioned me to come over to her. Gerard looked up at me with wide eyes before he dropped his gaze to the floor. Good boy.. “Your father and I was just explaining to Gerard about the turning process and what he'd be going through.” I just rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. “Now don't give us that look.” She then looked down at Gerard and smiled. “It's time..”

A heavy sigh escaped his lips as he slowly rose from his seat. His hands fumbled with the hem of his shirt before he finally lifted it over his shoulders and set it at his feet. His gaze was still fixed on the floor as his arms fell loosely at his sides. His fingers twitched as he struggled not to cover himself. Hmm..someone is self conscious..

I stepped closer to him, standing mere inches apart. Without looking up at me, he tilted his head to the side, a few tears slipping down his cheeks as he did so. Well..there's one good thing about this..he doesn't want this..so causing him pain and discomfort will make me feel a bit better.

My eyes slowly turned a deep red color as my fangs extended. I wrapped my hand around the back of his neck and pulled it to the side even more before I quickly dove my fangs into his neck. He let out a blood curdling scream as soon as my razor-sharp fangs pierced his skin. My grip on his neck grew tighter as I drank from him. His hot, sweet blood slid down my throat and warmed me, some escaping down my chin.

After a few minutes of drinking from him, his body began to grow limp. I pulled away from his neck, a loud growl leaving my lips as I held him up. His head fell back, leaving his lips parted slightly. I wasted no time in biting into my wrist and putting it against his lips.

I watched as my blood dripped into his mouth, growing disgusted as I realized that he is now mine.. He then wrapped his arm around mine, pulling it closer to his mouth as he drank. A low growl rose up his throat before he pulled away, screaming in agony. Father then took him from me and carried him upstairs. His screams could still be heard as a door slammed shut. Mother placed her hand on my back before she too walked off, leaving me alone.
