Band Geeks and Art Freaks

Mikey POV:

I had to knock several times on the door before finally getting some sort of response.

It was only an annoyed groan, muffled from the inside but enough for me to know he was alive.

I opened the door and entered the cold basement, to see paper and clothes strewn everywhere. Some papers were blank and new whereas others were tattered and covered with scribble. Small pieces of clothing were found here and there, not looking exactly dirty but definitely not clean. The only type of organization was the pile of comic books, which were still sloppily piled on top of each other and barely in order.

In the middle of the floor was the vampire himself, carelessly wrapped in a blanket face down, leaving only a mop of greasy black hair glued to the pillow for a visible limb.

"What?" he growled, his voice muffled and irritated.

"I'm going to the comic book store."

He grumbled some inaudible curse before slowly pushing himself off the ground and letting the blanket fall.

He was barefoot, wearing baggy black cargo pants and his "Black Flag" t-shirt. He slipped on his Converse and grabbed his leather jacket, yawning carelessly while attempting to jam his arms in the correct openings.

"Gerard, it's 3PM, why are you yawning?" I asked.

He mumbled what was probably meant to be an apology and then brushed past me and heading up the stairs. I sighed, rolling my eyes before following him out the door into the bitter fall wind.

Once we reached the store, Bob looked up from his reading at the counter and sighed.

"Dammit, Gerard, I swear that those are the same clothes you wore last time you saw me."

Gerard smirked "I've been over my girlfriend's house for the past week, and I couldn't go home since I was kept as a sex slave. Oh god, the chains and-"

"I call bullshit on that!" Bob accused.

I snorted and went to browse the new releases while Gerard and Bob went to the back of the store, continuing to bicker about Gerard's newly-invented girlfriend and her "needs" .

I was flipping through the new Batman edition before I heard a voice in my ear "In the end, Batman-"

Startled, I jumped and slapped my hand over Frank's mouth as I turned to glare.

I could feel Frank's grin widen under my hand, and his eyes flash a mischievous glint while Ray had his hands over his ears, chanting "No spoilers, no spoilers..."

Frank smiled and smacked my arm from his face. "Want me to lend you it?"

"Nah, you're just as overprotective with your comics as my brother, and I'd get coffee stains on it." I grimaced.

"Wait, you have a brother?" Ray asked, once he finally concluded it was safe to remove his hands from his ears.

"Yeah, he's here if you wanna meet hi-"

"MIKES!" Bobs voice carried through the store.

"What?" I called. "Tell Gee I'm not vouching for his fantasy sex story."

Bob came carrying a stack of comics. "I don't think we need anyone to vouch for him, he does a good job of proving it himself."

"Well that's the pot calling the kettle blac-"

"Don't push it, Way." He warned. "Anyways, Gee said you'd take care of this."

"...the hell? No! Tell him he can take 'em home himself."

"Too late, he left"

"HE WHAT?" I shouted. "WHERE THE FUCK DID HE GO?!"

"He wanted some smokes." Bob shrugged. "I swear he lives off that shit and coffee..."

Infuriated, I let out a frustrated curse and held out my hands for the comics, waiting for Bob to drop them in my hand.

"What?" I snapped, after holding out my hands like an idiot for too long.

"Gee didn't pay."

"WHAT THE HEL-" Frank shouted as he was dodging the airborne waste basket that had just left my fingertips.
