That's gotta hurt...my favorite was probably impalement; mostly with Vlad the Impaler and his methods. How he kept his victims alive during the impalement must have been gruesome.

I used to do a lot of research on history, torturing devices and lots especially in Count Draculas era, I just have a weird side of me xD that research alot of weird stuff and you have to make some research to re create a story especially one a bit sadistic as this one
