There is nothing weak about it, Don't think like that.
Some people I guess aren't ashamed of there scars and your friends whether or not she's faking for attention is getting help, which is good I guess. I can't say that it's okay to be ashamed of your scars but it's different for all people.
The case of the school nurse I understand where your getting at; How they won't help and you don't want them to know your feelings. I learned that it's better to put your feelings out there. The outcome may seem bad and weird at first but then maybe you realize that it actually helped later on :/ <3
