MIKEYS POV
Ray had decided to leave lunch early to go to the library and me and Bob had agreed to go with him. They were both great guys and we all seemed to get on well, I was surprised they even let me hang around with them. I was quite, how would I put it, awkward. They didn’t seem to mind though, they themselves were quite childish.
“Raaaay!” Bob moaned trying to keep his voice low. “Can you hurry up, we look like dorks.” He whined.
“Bob, just let me find this book and then we’ll be out, nobodys even in here anyway”. He replied in a whisper. Bob just folded his arms in a huff.
Ray pulled out a book from one of the top shelves and made his way over to the counter to take it out. “Whats it called?” I asked him.
“The Catcher In The Rye”, he replied back as the lady at the desk stamped the inside of the book and passed it over to him. “It’s meant to be really good.” He added.
Im sure Gerard had mentioned it before, I wasn’t too sure. Gerard had seemed to read every book that was ever published though.
We all made our way out of the library and down a corridor back into the caffeteria, There was a group of people surrounding a table but I couldn’t see what was happening.
“Oh, looks like there’s a fight” Bob chuckled, his eyes widening in excitement.
“Yeah, well i'm not getting myself involved, lets all head to our next class” Ray said, trying to be responsible.
“You’re such a killjoy, has anyone ever told you that before?” Bob huffed yet walked away nonetheless.
We were at biology next and once again i was in Bob and Rays class. I had been sat next to a girl. She had beautifully straight black hair. I couldn’t see her face as she was looking in the other direction, out of the window I think. She seemed like a dreamer, wanting out of school just like me. I brought my attention to the teacher then realized she was staring at me. Shit, what had she asked?
“Gravity” I heard bob whisper from behind. Thank god he was here.
“Gravity” I repeated myself sounding quite confident. The class began laughing and I turned behind me to see bob almost in tears. He mouthed the words “sorry”, as he tried to compose himself.
“Mikey, Gravity doesn’t mean too much to you does it?” the teacher began, “You're going to have to stop day dreaming boy if you want to keep your place in this class. It's carbon dioxide, It doesn’t mean much to us as it is a waste product when we breathe out.”. She sighed and turned away from me. Yeah, thank god I had Bob to help me out.
I turned to see the girl next to me smiling. I could see her face now, it was beautiful. She had big, icy blue eyes like the colour of the sky. Her cheeks were glowing with a rosey warmth to them and her lips, they were adorable. They were pouted almost shaped as a heart. I seen her begin to blush and realized I had just been staring. Oh god. Now I was blushing.
“Hi.” She whispered, trying to make things less awkward.
“Hey.” I whispered back, “I’m Mikey” I smiled, looking back into her eyes. They were so easy to get lost in.
“I know, you did have to introduce yourself to everyone at the start remember” she softly giggled. She had such a cute giggle.
“Right class, its that time of day. Remember to study hard.” The teacher called out. School was over already, that was fast.
“Lover boy!” Bob said with a wink and I tried to ignore the nickname. He had already grabbed his stuff and stood next to my table “Me and Ray are going to head home now, he always drives me home, do you want a lift?” He offered.
“No it’s fine, my house is a five minute walk from here” I replied thanking him.
“Okay, see you tomorrow” he said, Ray kindly repeating afterwards.
I pushed myself from the desk and placed my books into my back, i then realised the girl next to me had left. She had forgotten one of her books on the floor underneath her desk. I picked it up and read it.
“Jennifer” i thought to myself. A smile grew on my face and i placed it in my bag with my books. I would give it to her next time i seen her. I picked myself out of my seat and walked out of the class and out of the school.
I didn’t know whether I was to wait on Gerard, or if he had even headed home without me. I decided to pull my phone out and give him a quick text.
“Where r u?” I typed and quickly hit send. I stood against the tree Gerard had been leaning on in the morning. I felt my phone vibrate in my hands and opened up the message he had sent me back.
“Already home, i’ll explain after” It read. The cheek of him, he had left without me. He better have a good excuse, knowing Gerard he probably had it all planned. He was such a sly brother, he knew how to twist things and make people see his way. I sighed and began to head home.
