Let Me Break This Awkward Silence
MIKEYS POV
Jennifer and I had finally finished our assignment, with a lot of help from google, and were both sitting on my bed talking away. I was happy me and Jennifer could spend free time together now. She was beautiful, but I wanted to get to know her. I wanted to know what made her tick. We spent some time talking about our favourite hobbies, things we hated, things we loved. It all felt amazing, just watching her giggle or smile at me. Sometimes I could have sworn she was wanting me to kiss her, but i was probably just imagining it.
Our time alone together dissapeared as Gerard stumbled through the door. Frank slowly followed behind. My room seemed even smaller than it already was with the four of us in it.
“Hey!” Jennifer said to them, though she was looking straight at Gerard who was fumbling with his hair.
“Hi,” He mumbled back before glancing over at me, “When is your girl leaving then?” he asked me unpleasantly and I felt my cheeks burning. I had no idea where this attitude was coming from.
“She’s not my girl!” I snapped back at him causing him to roll his eyes at me, “Don’t be so rude, Gerard.” I added.
“Whatever” Gerard sighed. Frank was standing next to my computer at one side of the room looking rather uncomfortable. Jennifer and I both noticed him.
“When’s Frank going to leave?” I asked Gerard playing his own game. Gerard furrowed his brows at me. I did like Frank and I felt guilty for saying this right infront of him.
“You know, I’m happy to leave right now.” Frank finally spoke, “I only came up here because i thought Gerard might have changed his mind.” he said, aiming this to Gerard.
“Changed his mind about what?” Jennifer asked Frank curiously, when there was no reply she looked to Gerard with a smile curving on her lips. I didn’t have a clue what she thought it was, but she certainly seemed to like the thought.
“Just something between me and Frank.” He replied back causing Jennifers face to quickly drop. She looked towards me ignoring them both now.
“Well, I guess i’ll be going then.” Frank sighed and walked out of the room.
“I better be going anyway, Mikey.” She sighed, “Thanks for such a lovely time.” She smiled adding emphasis to the last part of the sentence before glancing over at Gerard.
“No problem.” I mumbled smiling back at her. She giggled at me then pulled close to me, was she going to do what i thought she was? I looked over to Gerard quickly hoping he would get the idea, and he left the room tutting and shaking his head. I turned back to face Jennifer who was even closer to me now, I closed my eyes in anticipation then I felt her soft lips against mine, it was just a quick peck but I still felt my cheeks go on fire, the girl i was crazy about had just kissed me. I couldn’t believe it. As I opened my eyes she began to stand up.
“Bye, Mikey!” She bent over hugging me as i still sat on the bed. Then she walked out of my room. I would have followed her to the door but i was too busy throwing my face into my pillow in happiness.
GERARDS POV
I was standing in the hallway looking out one of the windows, I had been watching Franks figure fade. He had left unhappily and i couldn’t help but feel guilty. Although she seemed pretty friendly with Mikey upstairs. My thoughts quickly faded as i heard someone walking down the stairs and turned to face them.
It was Jennifer, she just gave me a friendly smile. I couldn’t understand why she seemed so happy now, she had been so pissed off with me before.
“Gee?” She asked breaking the silence.
“Gerard.” I corrected her, I didn’t like the way she said my nickname. I didn’t like her saying it at all really. I know i shouldn’t have been so hostile to her, she was probably going to be Mikeys girlfriend anytime now but I couldn’t help it.
“You know, if you ever do change your mind. Just tell me.” She smiled.
“What?” I asked, totally confused by this.
“I know your excuse was a cover up.” She said biting her lip, she looked like a silly little girl.
“It wasn’t actually.” I said furrowing my brows at her looking dumb.
“Oh, okay.” She sighed before fumbling with her pockets and pulling out her mobile which was vibrating. “Fuck sake.” She sighed under her breath.
“Whats wrong?” I asked curiously.
“Aw, it’s nothing. Just my ex boyfriend attempting to get me back. Telling me how he loves me and other ridiculous bullshit.” She smiled at me, but it didn’t seem too convincing.
“Get a new phone.” I suggested, she didn’t deserve to be harrased.
“He’ll leave me alone soon.” She said burying her phone back into her pocket. “He’s just the jealous type. Which is ironic after he cheated on me.” she forced out a laugh. I felt bad for being so mean to her earlier now.
“What a dick.” I spat.
“Yeah, I really do need to go now.” She smiled. “See you sometime soon, Gerard.”
“Bye, Jennifer.” I smiled giving her a goodbye hug before she left out the front door.
