Demolition Lovers
Our Lady of Sorrows
Frankie's POV
"Gee, I can't do it.", I whined as I paced the palace's restroom. It was finally wedding night and I had thrown up three times already. During all of our practices, I couldn't get over how this was actually happening for us and now that it's here I couldn't help but wish I never agreed to it. Next thing I knew, Gee had me pinned up against the wall, his face being less than two inches away from mine. His brow furrowed at the retched stench of vomit on my breath.
"You. Need. To. Relax Frankie.", he said laughing. He wiped my face down and gave me a deep kiss. I returned it with a soft smile as our union broke. He always knew how to calm me down. "Okay, now are you ready to kill this thing with me?", he said as he held his hand out to me. I nodded and we walked out into the corridor to take our seats.
We spent the whole time whispering about how odd their families were, you would think someone like Kat would have parents that looked like Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, but they were the complete opposite. Her mother wore an expensive looking pants suit while her father looked rather dashing in his tuxedo with a blood red tie. More than conservative to say the least. My concentration over the strange guests was broken as we all stood to acknowledge the bride. As she made her way down the aisle, I couldn't help but marvel at how stunning she looked. She donned a jeweled champagne colored strapless dress that fit tight around her body until it hit her calves, where it flared out like a mermaid's tail. She was absolutely beautiful, there was no doubt about that.
We left the ceremony early to set up at the reception hall and just when I thought my nerves could get any worse, they sure as hell did. We ran through the set about eight times before people started to show up. A clearly intoxicated Kat skipped over to us and ripped the mic from the stand, "Guys it's time to get this shit started! Here's My Chemical Romance!" A loud roar overtook the room as Ray started playing the beginning chords of our song Demolition Lovers, I felt a small smile creep across my face as the music took me over and I lost myself in it. This was sheer confirmation that this was what I was born to do.
After a few songs and a couple of shots, we all met outside to load our shit up into Matt's truck. "Judging from the raging drunkards screaming encore, I'd like to think we did pretty fucking good.", Gee said after taking a swig of his beer. We all chuckled and I headed back into the reception hall. I grabbed a glass of wine when I felt two small hands wrap their fingers around my wrist.
"You guys were amazing.", she said as she stuck her hand out towards me, "Hi, I'm Kristy." I tried to see if I could recognize her face, but I was so drunk it all just melted together. I shook her hand and offered her a drink. We sat at the bar and talked about music and forming a real band, "You guys should totally go for it. I think you'd hit it big for sure." We talked for what seemed like hours, then we realized everyone started packing up to leave. "It was really nice talking to you. Here's my number, we should get together sometime.", she said with a wink and walked away. I smiled as I watched her when Gee gave me a shove in the shoulder, he motioned his head towards the door and I followed him out.
"What's with the stupid grin on your face?", Ray asked as we rode home. I shook my head and glanced over at Gee to see if he noticed but he was too focused on acting sober so we wouldn't get pulled over. A strike of guilt hit me when I realized I couldn't stop thinking about Kristy and I had no idea why. Maybe because she knew so much about music and seemed so passionate about it. She intrigued me and I definitely wanted to know more about her. I turned my head towards the window and stared at the night skyline zoom past us.
I mean, there's noting wrong with making new friends, right?
