~ [Frank’s POV] ~

The next day when I got to school, everyone was gawking at me. I had a cigarette hanging limp from the corner of my mouth, sunglasses covering my bruised eye, and I also wore a Three Days Grace shirt, one that covered my bruised and welted arms.

People began to whisper, but I couldn’t bring myself to care. Maybe I only cared about what Gerard thought, but I knew that deep down, I didn’t. Not when I have people like my father to deal with.

I was suddenly shoved roughly against the locker, and I groaned. The fatherly ‘’welcome’’ wasn’t as welcoming as I wished, but then again, I shouldn’t have expected it to be.

‘’You got me suspended, Iero.’’ Brock snarls, eyes ablaze in complete and utter anger. I found myself withering away in my own anger, but I needed to stay calm if I didn’t want to be suspended either – or worse, put in some psycho delinquent school for killing a minor. Although, all those tough, lonely bad boys might just be the brighter part of my day, the homosexual one at least. I’ve heard they can be a lot of fun.

‘’Then why are you here, Brock?’’ I ask spitefully, teeth ground together.

This seemed to amuse him, and I found myself shuddering under his intense gaze. I wanted to punch his lights out, and I think it was more than because he was threatening to overrule my turf.

‘’I came back for you, Frankie. I wanted to ask you why you get so much attention, after all, you are a faggot.’’ Brock The Jock tells me.

I went off.

Punching him directly in the face, I laughed bitterly as he crippled down to the floor. The teachers came running, the students came over, gasping and shouting, but the only face that even remotely mattered was, Gerard’s friend, Ray Toro.. He looked surprised, and yet he also looked pleased.
‘’Come on Frank! You’re in trouble,’’ the French teacher tells me. I was in his grasp, ready to be hauled off as guilty, but Ray sky rocketed into action.

‘’I saw the whole thing, Mr. Petite! Brock came up to Frank and started to beat on him, it was only self defense!’’ Ray says, his hand snaking into mine.

I couldn’t help but shiver, smiling slightly but I had a sinful thought and found myself wishing it was Pansy’s, not his friends.

‘’Is that true?’’ Mr. Petite asks, corking an eyebrow at me. I nod slowly, wondering why he even cared about my side. He should have known I would have said anything to get out of this predicament.

‘’I’m going to call your mother, Frank. I don’t want you in school.’’ Mr. Petite tells me, going to drag me to the office but I shake my head frantically, knowing mom wouldn’t be there at this hour but my so called dad would.

‘’My mom isn’t home. I’ll have to wait until after four and by then school will be long over.’’ I tell him, itching to just be gone from under his intense glare.

‘’Fine.’’ Mr. Petite turns to Ray, nodding his head before saying, ‘’how about you Ray? Can you hold Mr. Iero in a friendly hostage until his mom gets home?’’

My stomach twisted and I flush bright pink.

‘’I can’t intrude in their home! I’m sure they have better things to do than look after me!’’ I cry. Gerard flashed through my mind because he’s friends with Gerard, and I felt horribly guilty for all I did to him all of a sudden. All the years of abuse and hate, did he even deserve it?

Yes. He does. He dresses like he’s depressed, but what does he have to be depressed about? It’s not like his father is a sexual predator that did awful things to him, right?

Right. So why should he be depressed?

‘’My mom won’t worry! And, how about we go and give Gerard a surprise? He never shuts up about you,’’ Ray tells me.

My stomach dropped.
