Frank’s POV
“You like him don’t you?” Arya asked as we walked to the shops to get ourselves some food since we didn’t want whatever was in the house.
“I couldn’t possibly like him, I mean he’s fucked up and if I wanted to take anything to the next level I couldn’t so it’s just better if I didn’t like him.” I said and Arya looked at me confused.
“Yeah but that doesn’t mean you can’t do things and take things slowly.” Arya said and I looked at her.
“I don’t exactly want to be with someone who I was to dance around with.” I said and Arya rolled her eyes at me.
“Get his confidence and I think he’ll be okay.” Arya said and I sighed.
“When that will that be? I mean he has been with us for 5 months and he has hardly made any progress with anything.” I said as we walked to the shop but we stopped outside as I was still smoking.
“Okay I know you are more of the defensive person and protects me and Gee and will never have anyone say a bad name about us but you know that is complete bullshit Frank. I mean mum managed to get him out of the house and go shopping with her, he is talking to me now, he is learning that he can talk to us about what happened to him and I think the most important thing he has made progress in is that he now knows that when we touch him we aren’t going to hurt him. You can hug him and he doesn’t flinch away from you. I mean he hugged mum yesterday. I think he is making progress but you have to think that it is going to take time with him.” Arya said and I sighed loudly as I flicked my cigarette away.
“I know things are getting there and it’s going to take a while.” I said as we both walked inside of the shop and looked for food.
“You okay Frank? You are awfully quiet today.” Mum said as I walked into her room as I wanted to talk to her about something.
“I’m feeling really disgusting at the moment.” I said quietly as I sat on her bed which made mum frown at me.
“Why sweetie?” Mum asked and I sighed.
“I think I like Gee, but more than like a brother feeling.” I said as I looked down and mum pulled me to her side.
“So as in a relationship way?” Mum asked and I nodded.
“If you like Gee more than a brother than that’s okay because he is no relation to us but he is family if that makes sense. As you liking him in a relationship way, I think you’ll have to hold back those feelings for the time being as Gee is still unstable and we don’t even know if he like guys.” Mum said and I sighed.
“I know, but I feel bad for feeling like this towards him.” I said quietly and mum kissed the top of my head.
“At the moment don’t make your move, but hopefully I’ve managed to get Gee to a proper therapist and if he starts opening up and he gets more comfortable then you can make your move with him.” Mum said and I nodded.
“I’m just worried that I’m Just going to fuck up and ruin everything.” I said quietly.
“I think Gee will forgive you as I think he may like you too. But he’s just scared at the moment, I mean he’s probably never had these feelings before and he is still figuring out how to be a normal person.” Mum said and I nodded.
“Now I know I can get Gee out the house and go shopping. How about you try and get him out and take him for a ice cream or a coffee since it’s a nice day and he shouldn’t be shut inside.” Mum said and I smiled as I nodded.
“Also hopefully he knows you’ll look after him and defend him if anything bad is to happen.” Mum said and I hugged mum which she returned.
“You’ve just got to take it slow.” Mum said quietly.
I nodded as I stood up and walked out her room and went looking for Gee and I found him sat in his window looking outside and there was also that longing look of going outside on his face.
“Hey Gee.” I said which made him jump as he looked at me.
“Hey Frank.” Gerard said quietly and I walked into the room and sat in window with him which made Gerard smile.
“So I was wondering if you would like to go outside with me and we can go and get a ice cream and a coffee.” I said and Gerard looked at me and then outside.
“I can go outside?” Gerard whispered and I chuckled as I smiled.
“Yeah dummy, we’ve been saying this for the last 5 months you’re allowed outside.” I said and Gerard looked at me with a smile.
“Let me get dressed and I’ll meet you downstairs.” Gerard said happily and I smiled as I walked out his room and went downstairs and waited for Gerard to show.
Gerard came downstairs and he was wearing a t shirt which even for Gerard was a brave thing to do and I looked at the rest of what he was wearing jeans which fitted his legs perfectly and I looked back up at him and smiled.
“You ready?” I asked and Gerard nodded and I opened the door and walked out the door and looked at Gerard who was standing by the door looking unsure.
I walked over and stood by the door and offered my hand to Gerard who looked at me confused.
“One step, that’s all it takes.” I said quietly and Gerard put his hand in mine and he took the step out which made me smile and Gerard looked at me.
“Can I keep hold of your arm?” Gerard asked quietly and I smiled as I nodded.
“Sure you can.” I said and Gerard caught hold of my arm and we walked to where the best ice cream shop is in town.
I knew Gerard was uncomfortable wearing a t shirt since he never has his arms out even at home.
“Hey if any fucker looks at you even in the slightest, I’ll give them hell.” I said and Gerard nodded slightly.
We walked to the ice cream shop and I looked at Gerard who was looking round the shop but he also had this slight look of fear on his face.
“You okay Gee?” I asked and Gerard looked at me and nodded.
“Just remember you are allowed out.” I said quietly which made him take a deep breath and he looked less afraid and we went over to the counter.
“What do you want?” I asked and Gerard looked at me confused.
“I don’t know.” Gerard said quietly and I smiled at him.
“Which one is your favorite?” I asked and Gerard had this look on his face and I smiled as I nodded at him as I knew what this meant.
“Can I have a strawberry and chocolate chip.” I said to the person behind the counter and she nodded and sorted our ice creams out.
“Let go of my arm for 2 seconds.” I said softly to Gerard and I looked at me and gingerly let go of my arm and I got my wallet and Gerard quickly put his arm round mine again.
“What coffee do you want?” I asked as I looked at Gerard.
“Whatever coffee you have.” Gerard said quietly as he was more of a coffee drinker than what I was.
I paid for it and we went to a table outside and waited for the ice cream and coffee.
I started to smoke a cigarette as I just looked at Gerard who was looking around and taking everything in but at the same time he was one edge.
“Damn don’t you move fast.” A voice said which made me frown as I turned round and saw Hugh and I looked at Gerard to check on him and he was looking at Hugh unsure about him.
“Hugh you know who this is.” I said and Hugh scoffed.
“The little bitch who stole my boyfriend that’s who he is.” Hugh said as he glared at Gerard and he knew it was making Gerard uncomfortable.
“Okay, stop fucking glaring at him your beef is with me and not him so don’t you dare take it out on him. Also I dumped your sorry ass because you refuse to come out as a gay boy like me, I also dumped you because of a load of other things but I won’t say because we are in public.” I said seriously and I quickly looked at Gerard who was messing with this thing he got with mum the other day.
“You dumped me because he’s better than what I am.” Hugh said and he walked over to Gerard who flinched away from him and he got up and knocked his chair over as he moved away from Hugh.
“Leave him alone.” I said seriously as I stood up and walked over to Gerard and pulled him behind me.
“So you’ll defend this little bitch but I needed someone you refused to defend me.” Hugh said and I rolled my eyes.
“You fucking told me not to get involved so I didn’t. I’ll defend him because he needs someone too.” I said seriously as I felt Gerard get hold of my top as he started to mess with it.
Hugh moved and looked at Gerard.
“Hope you can give him what he wants. He particularly likes people being handcuffed to the bed begging.” Hugh said to Gerard and I glared at him as a warning but he didn’t take the hint.
“He also enjoys the darker things in the bedroom...” Hugh started but I pulled him back and I punched him hard round the face.
“You don’t fucking talk to him. You want to dish the dirty on me then you give me the dirty but you do not bring Gerard into this.” I growled as I bent down to Hugh level.
“He won’t be able to keep up with you, he’s a nervous fucking wreck and he’s proper fucked up and those scars are damn right disgusting.” Hugh said and I punched him hard around the face.
“I suggest you get the fuck up and walk away and if you come anywhere near me or Gerard again then this beating will not be your last.” I growled and let him go and Hugh walked off as he glared at me and Gerard.
I turned round looked at Gerard.
“Hey you okay?” I asked softly and Gerard looked at me scared.
“Gee.” I said quietly as I caught hold of his hand.
“Y..Y..You hurt him.” Gerard said quietly and I sighed.
“I know I did, but I’m never going to hurt you okay.” I said and Gerard looked down unsure about this.
“People say that but they always do.” Gerard said quietly and I caught hold of his hand which made Gerard look at me.
“I’m not like them okay. Let’s got somewhere else.” I said and Gerard nodded as I went to walk off and I felt Gerard catch hold of my hand which made me stop and look at him.
“Can we go home please?” Gerard asked quietly and I sighed as I nodded and I took Gerard home, but I decided to go a different route home.
“This isn’t the way home.” Gerard said quietly as he held onto my arm more tightly as we walked through the woods which was close to home.
“Yeah it is, it’s just a different way home.” I said as I looked at Gerard who was looking unsure about this.
“Trust me okay.” I said and Gerard nodded as he took a deep breath.
I got to this spot and I stopped and looked at Gerard who was looking around with his eyes.
“Gee.” I said and Gerard looked at me confused slightly.
“I wanted to apologize for my behavior at the cafe, I shouldn’t of done what I had done.” I said and Gerard looked down and thought about something.
“Hey come with me.” I said as I caught hold of Gerard hand and we went to my favorite spot in the woods.
We got by this little grass meadow and where there was a gap in the trees it let the sun shine through and I took Gerard into the middle of it and I sat down and after a few seconds Gerard followed my lead and sat down.
“I want to explain something to you.” I said and Gerard looked at me and nodded which made me smile.
“So I like guys okay and me and Hugh was together for about 2 years before I broke it off because he was in hiding the fact he was gay.” I said and Gerard nodded slightly as he frowned a little.
“So before I got with Hugh I was always in trouble for beating people up and I would hurt anyone who would hurt Arya. But as she got older she learnt how to stand up for herself and I guess she’s a bit like me where she’ll beat anyone up.” I said as I frowned at Gerard slightly who was looking upset.
“Just because we hurt others Gee doesn’t me we are going to hurt you. You are family and we protect family.” I said as I rested my hand on his knee.
“People say that but it isn’t true.” Gerard said quietly and I looked down as it was true in some way.
“But we mean it in our family okay, I mean you’ve seen dad, he’s a cop and he’s built like a tank nobody fucks with him.” I said and Gerard nodded and I did make me wonder how Gerard is so scared of everything but he isn’t really that scared of dad as even dad would even scare me sometimes.
“I’m always going to keep an eye out for you Gee and I’ll always protect you the best way that I can. You never have to be afraid of me.” I said softly and Gerard nodded.
“What about you? Do you like guys or girls?” I asked and Gerard shrugged his shoulders slightly.
“I’ve always been with guys and when the girls tried to touch me it felt wrong.” Gerard said quietly and I nodded slightly.
“Daddy was always the best, he liked to play with me and do fun stuff with me.” Gerard said and I literally felt sick about this.
“How old was you when you was with this guy?” I asked feeling uncomfortable about Gerard calling this disgusting human daddy.
“I was 15 when I went to daddy. The person I was with when Don found me was meant to be looking after me while daddy was away, but I think daddy forgot about me as he never came back.” Gerard said and I nodded as this sounded like he sold Gerard on to this other man.
“Does he have a name?” I asked and Gerard shrugged his shoulders.
“Dunno, I always called him daddy because that’s what he wanted me to call him. But he did live in a nice house. It had 3 bathrooms.” Gerard said which made me frown as right now he sound like a kid.
“Do you know where this guy lived?” I asked Gerard shook his head.
“Nope, always traveled at night. They gave me something that made me sleep.” Gerard said as he looked at me.
“Daddy was the nicest one I’d been with. He wouldn’t hurt me or beat me. Only when I was bad would he hurt me and put me back in my place.” Gerard said quietly and I smiled at him as I put my hand on his knee.
“Well you don’t have to worry about that now okay.” I said and Gerard nodded.
After a while we left the wood and we went home.
“Hey boys did you have a nice time?” Mum asked and I nodded as I looked at Gee who was going upstairs heading towards his room.
“Yeah it was good, minus Gee witnessed me punching Hugh because he was saying stuff which was making Gee uncomfortable.” I said and mum rolled her eyes at me.
“You need to learn to keep a lid on it otherwise you will scare Gee.” Mum said and I nodded slightly.
“I know, but he was getting to close to Gee and he said stuff about his scared and all that and I couldn’t let him say that.” I said and mum nodded slightly.
“Hey is dad home?” I asked and mum nodded.
“Yeah he’s in the office.” Mum said and I turned round and went to dads office and shut the door which made dad jump.
“So I know Gee had one person he is willing to talk about.” I said and dad spun round and looked at me with a frown.
“And that is?” Dad asked.
“I don’t know his name, but Gee calls him daddy. I think he sold Gee to the person where you found Gee as he said that this daddy guy took him there because he was on holiday but he never came back to get Gee, which probably means he sold Gee to this guy.” I said and dad nodded.
“I think if you go the right way about it then Gee will open up about the guy.” I said.
“Has he told you what the house was like or where he was?” Dad asked and I shook my head.
“Nope only that the house had 3 bathrooms.” I said which made dad sigh.
“Look I know it’s not much, but Gee liked this guy and when he speaks about him, he doesn’t fear him like the others. I think the man treated Gee like his kid more than shit.” I explained.
“We’ve hit some many dead ends and the only way we can get a possible lead as well as get some sort of justice for Gee we need him to talk.” Dad said and I sighed.
“You know he isn’t going to talk about the people who have hurt him, I mean the way he talks and explains the Daddy guy it’s like how a child would talk. It’s like he regresses back into a child.” I said as I sat on dads desk.
“Look I’ll see if I can get Gee to open up about the Daddy dude, but we know Gee it probably not going to be plain sailing.” Dad said and I nodded as I agreed.
“I think getting him a emotional support dog will really help him.” I said and dad smiled which made me frown at him.
“So Gee can get a emotional support dog. The doctors and all that shit said that Gee needs something to keep him grounded when talking about what happened to him and also Gee is just a bundle of anxiety about the world and others outside of the house.” Dad said which made me smile.
“We’re taking him tomorrow to see a few dogs and hopefully there will be one he likes.” Dad said and made me nod and I got of the desk and walked out the room and went upstairs and played on the Xbox.
