Danger Days; the True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

I Gotta Shout This Out So Everybody Knows

A month had passed. A whole month since I was picked up on the side of the road by the four most amazing people I had ever met in my life. A whole month since I’ve been in hiding from the Exterminator, whom we also call Dr. E, which we’ve been doing fairly well on even though he decides to grace us with his presence every so often. A whole month since my heart was taken from me. A whole month since I’ve gained a new family. Things were going better for me than they ever have, and it’s all thanks to the four Killjoys. I sat in the booth smiling like an idiot while everybody around the diner was to each his own, doing what they wanted. Yesterday was one of those days, where Party got us all out of the house so he could nearly kill us with his driving for about an hour, leading us somewhere that was well in walking distance. Well, for me, everything had been in walking distance.

“Did your mind walk out on you again,” I heard Fun in front of me, realizing I had already been looking at him, still grinning like an idiot.

“No, just, taking the whole ‘not being in a car that Party’s driving’ moment to the fullest,” I admitted, causing him to chuckle.

“I wouldn’t let you hear him say that,” he joked, and I shook my head, playing with my nails.

“I’ve already told him he’s a horrible driver,” I informed him, and a grin spread from ear to ear on his face.

“Did he do the whole ‘it’s the car, it has a mind of its own’ speech?” He asked, and I nodded, remembering Party telling me that the car was obviously possessed, and all he really did was steer. That led me to criticizing his steering.

“Yeah,” I nodded, laughing.

“So about you and Party,” he said, looking out the window awkwardly as he questioned me, “You guys are all cuddly around here and are basically inseparable, meaning you guys are like a thing, right?” He asked, and then looked back at me. I had the same answer that I had last time, I shrugged.

“We…we don’t really talk about it,” I said, beginning to question what we were, myself, “Why?”

“Well, I was just curious. I mean, not much else goes on here,” he mumbled, and I shook my head, a slight smile playing on my lips.

“Yeah, because we don’t have Captain Shiny Head on our asses twenty-four seven. He doesn’t have a suspicion that I’m the key to his evil plans. Last but definitely not least, Party is trying to get us to eat food that he makes, but won’t eat himself, and we have yet to figure out what he puts in it,” I said.

“It will forever remain a secret,” I jumped as I heard his voice from behind me. I turned around to him planting a soft kiss on my lips, causing me to start grinning like an idiot again.

“Well, I have revenge against Jet to plot with Kobra. Did you know he put a sock full of throw up under my pillow?” he said, disgusted, and got up, heading towards Kobra’s room. Party came around, sitting next to me.

“You’re gonna loooooove me,” he said as he threw his arms around me excitedly. Truthfully, I already did. I had already fallen for him – hard that is. I didn’t tell him, in order to not make things awkward. I mean, it had only been a month.

“And why am I going to love you, again,” I asked, and he looked up at me with a cheeky grin.

“You’ll see, now come on,” he urged, pulling at me to get out of the booth. I laughed as he pulled me through the two front doors, and led me to the car, where I stopped and shook my head at him.

“No, no. No. No. No. No,” I said, “I refuse to get in a car with you for at least another twenty-four hours. My internal organs are still trying to make their way back to me,” I told him, and he pouted at me like a puppy.

“That means…that means we have to walk,” he wined, and I drug my hand down my face.

“Jesus Christ, you’re fucking lazy,” I said, and he grabbed my hand.

“Fine,” he sighed, pulling me in the direction of the junkyard, “I guess we’ll have to do this the hard way,” he mumbled, and I giggled as he excitedly pulled me along, and I tried to keep pace with him, but I kept tripping over my own feet, “this is going to be so great. I’ve been working on it for days,” he informed me, and I nodded as I laughed, though he really couldn’t see me since I was behind him.

“What is it,” I asked, urging him.

“You’ll see,” he said, looking back at me like I was crazy, “Just be patient. Damn,” he said, then started muttering incoherently about how I needed to pace myself, and not get so damn excited for everything.

“Practice what you preach,” I muttered, noticing that he didn’t hear me. We walked into the empty lot near the piles of junk, and he started pulling me towards one that I had noticed was looking a little different. A little bit more big; more shaped. Party slowed down a little bit, giving my legs a break, and turned to look at me.

“Alright. I know how girls need their space, and to do that they like to go somewhere like, quiet and shit. You live with four fucking retards, so I know you need a lot of space, so I made you this,” he said, and grabbed my hand again as he pulled me to the pile, and walked me to the side where there was a wooden door. He opened it, and I saw it was basically a wooden shack, covered by a bunch of junk and shit from the yard. There was a small mattress on the floor with some sheets, a chair, a lamp, and a bookcase full of shelves. I turned around to throw my arms around him.

“Thanks,” I mumbled into his shoulder.

“It’s no problem,” he chuckled. I pulled away, to look into his eyes sincerely.

“This really does mean a lot. Now I can be away for when Fun retaliates against Jet,” I said, causing him to smile.

“You can come here whenever you want. I made it for you,” he said, urging me in the small shack, closing the door behind us, wrapping his arms around me from behind, and pulling me down on the small makeshift bed, “and that also means that I get to be alone with you,” he said softly before nuzzling his head in the nape of my neck, causing my heart to flutter even more.

“Party,” I croaked, ready to ask him a question that’s been eating at me since Fun and I had the conversation earlier.

“Hmm,” he asked, his breathing on the back of my neck making the hairs along my body stand up.

“What – What exactly are we,” I asked, not sure of what he’d answer. He was quiet for a minute before he started shifting around.

“Each other’s,” he whispered in my ear, sending my thoughts jumping off the walls. I wanted to tell him right then, that he was the world to me, now. That I loved him with all of my heart, and I never wanted to leave his sides. I wanted to tell him that I’m ready to give him my heart so he can keep it forever. That whenever I was around him, my life got better. He was the reason for my smile every morning when I woke up next to him. But no, that would be a little weird right now.

“I like that that’s what we are,” I breathed, kind of speechless. The two words had thrown me off guard, and I was still trying to pick up the pieces of my brain.

“Good,” he said, nuzzling his head back into my neck. I had a strong sense of security and comfort again, like I always had around Party. It was as if as long as I was around him, I’d never get hurt. Nothing could happen to me. I was invincible, “I think we should get back to the guys, sadly,” he said, and a frown tugged at my lips, but I had to agree. They’d be worrying, “unless you’d like to stay here,” he offered, and I shook my head.

“I’m coming,” I told him, and he helped me up after he got up himself, leading me from the shack, closing the door behind him. He entwined our fingers as we walked back towards the diner, taking our time.

“You know, if this walking thing means I get to hold your hand the whole time, I don’t quite mind it,” he said, and I blushed.

“What’s it with you and physical movement,” I joked, and he shrugged.

“It’s not for me,” he admitted, and I looked at him strangely, “some people like to walk. Some people like to eat. Some people like to read. I like to not move,” he said, and a giggle escaped my lips

“Shit,” he said, pulling us behind two dried out bushes. We lay on our stomach as I try to get a good visual between all of the small twigs and what leaves were there. I could see the black car with the white logo on it, the Exterminator at the front door, “Fuck. Um…I need you to run to the shack, and hide there, so I can go talk to him, and make him go away. I’ll come get you when he’s gone,” he instructed me, and I nodded, running back to the shack we had just come from. My heart was racing, and definitely beating me to the little hide-out Party had built. I ran into the small room, shutting the door behind me, sliding down it, and sitting against it.

I watched as she ran to the shack, hoping she’d be safe there without me. I got up, composing myself. I was about to brush off the dirt, but then thinking I could use it as an alibi, one of which I’d have to think of as I walked over to the tall man who seriously lacked hair. Not that it was any of his business what I had been doing, but I know he’d question the fuck out of me. It was obvious he was suspicious of Sunshine. It was like he already knew that she was the key to him taking over the world. As I approached, he turned around to look at me, one of his eyebrows going up.

“I was beginning to wonder where you were, ketchup head,” he smirked, and I patted him on the shoulder as I walked by him.

“At least I have hair, pal,” I said, and went to stand next to Kobra.

“These three have been absolutely lost without you. Do you mind my asking of where you were,” he asked, like I had known he would, and I gave him a look as I racked my brain.

“We were all out yesterday, and I dropped a necklace my mom had given me when I was a kid. I went to go look for it,” I told him, and his eyebrow cocked again.

“Somebody conceived you,” he asked as if it had been something hard to believe.

“Well, yeah. Usually that’s how it works,” I answered him, not wanting to go into detail about the process of birth.

“How positively unfortunately for them,” he said more to himself.

“So can I help you? If not, you can leave,” I said, causing him to snort like the pig he was.

“Just dropping by to see my four little bandits,” he said, reaching out to ruffle my hair, but I caught it, turning him around so I had his arm locked behind his back. The two Draculoids that were with him drew their pistols, as did Fun, Jet, and Kobra.

“Don’t fucking touch me,” I threatened, shoving him back to the two masked guys, “I think you should leave,” I insisted, closing the door in his face, watching him head back to his car. The three turned back to me, holstering their guns.

“Where’s Sunshine,” asked Jet, reminding me that I needed to go get her.

“Right,” I said, watching as Dr. E’s car drove out of distance, then walked across the street and towards where Sunshine had been.

<<*Sunshine’s P.O.V*>>

My heart skipped a beat when I heard a slight knock at the door, not knowing if I should answer it or not, “It’s me,” Party said, his voice somewhat muffled by the door. I opened it, and his arms were instantly around me, “It’s like he has his fucking mind set on finding you,” he said, and I nodded.

“I had that feeling,” I said, as we let go.

“Well, it’s safe now, so come on,” he grabbed my hand, leading me back to the diner.

<<^v^v^v^>>

“What a fucking creep,” Fun seethed as he lay across the counter in the front.

“Did you see the look on his face when Party nearly took his arm off,” Jet laughed, causing me to wonder what all had happened. I looked at part who was holding me in one of the booths. He shook his head with his lips pursed, as if Jet had gone insane. I leaned back onto him as we watched three rant about the villain, obviously not happy with him.

“Yeah,” Kobra started laughing, “It was like his life flashed before his eyes,” he continued laughing.

“That was great. He should try touching Party’s head more,” Fun said, leaning his head back, “I just wonder when he’s gonna fucking realize we’re not giving her up, and he’s not gonna get her,” he said, and I looked down at my hands, which were entwined with Party’s.

“He’ll have to kill us first,” Jet stated, and I shook my head.

“No,” I stated, “I don’t want you guys risking your lives for me,” I said, and they looked at me like I was insane.

“Too fucking bad,” Party said from behind me, and I looked at him to see his eyes soften when they met mine, “I already devoted my life to protect you,” he told me, and I frowned.

“I just – I don’t want to lose any of you,” I admitted.

“I mean, it’s not like we want to lose you either,” Kobra pointed out, and I shrugged.

“Then your lives would go back to normal,” I told them.

“We’re already accustomed to you being here. If you were to go, I think the Killjoys wouldn’t have a reason. We’d wander around aimlessly, like little lost puppies,” Party informed me.

“You already follow her around like a little lost puppy,” Fun laughed out, and I could already tell that Party was glaring at him.

“Alright, maybe that’s a little true,” he finally said, earning a laugh from the guys.

“Actually, it’s a lot of true.”
