Gerard’s POV

”Gerard you have to eat, remember what happened last time you didn’t eat. “ Mum said as I picked at my food feeling really nervous about today.
”Yes I do remember what happened last time and I’m not hungry so get off my back Yeah.” I said as I stood up and put my food in the bin.
”Gee you can keep on punishing yourself to what happened between me and your brother and father.” Mum said and I turned round and looked at her.
”Really, so Mike’s turning around saying that he hated me for what I did really has no reason why my brother hates my guts along with dad. Fuck Mum I ruined your marriage, you should of just ran off while you had the chance.” I said as I looked down.
”Gee, I don’t care what has happened between you and your brother and father. I’m not going to run away if my child needs me and right now you need me. Mikey has your father and to be honest if they can’t support you then they are better of out the picture.” Mum said and stood next to me.
”You know they both blame me on why I became ill, it was never dear sweet innocent Eric. Mum the bastard ruined me and now I had to pull myself from rock bottom to somewhere where I feel numb, like I have no emotions.” I said and looked at Mum.
”I can’t do this Mum.” I said and mum put her hand on top of mine.
”You can do this Okay. You have beaten your demons at the moment and if you can do that then you can take on the world.” Mum said and I smiled slightly at her and looked back down.
”Come on, we can’t have you late on your first day.” Mum said and I nodded and walked off.
”Gee.” Mum said and I turned round as I picked my bag up.
”Promise you’ll eat at lunch.” Mum said and I smiled and nodded.
”I promise, I’ll see you later, love you.” I said and mum smiled.
”Love you too sweetie.” Mum said and I turned round and walked to school while I smoked a cigarette hoping this would calm my nerves down a little.

”Hey you must be Gerard Way.” A boy said as he walked over and shook my hand.
”Yeah I’m Gerard.” I said and the boy smiled.
”I’m Finn and I’ll be your guide of the school until you settle in.” Finn said and I just nodded.
”Okay, would you like to follow me then.” Finn said and I nodded and I stood up and followed him.
”Okay so we have a handful of people who you don’t want to get involved with.” Finn said as we walked through the court yard.
“Why not? Everyone seems to get along.” I said and Finn stopped and looked round and I followed his eye where it landed on 3 people.
A boy who must of been my age if not a bit older and a boy and a girl who looked liked they was twins. I noticed the boy round my age staring at me which made me look down and look back at Finn.
”Whats wrong with those 3?” I asked and Finn looked at me .
”Their the Iero. They are pikeys and their type has coursed a lot of trouble for everyone in the town. Also they pretty much run the place because their all pretty good with their fists. So don’t take the girl as being a sweet and innocent damsel because she’s not.” Finn said.
I frowned at home because I have no idea what the word pikey meant since I came from a town where we never heard of the word.
”Explain to me what a pikey is. Also girls aren’t my type.” I said and looked through my bag and sighed loudly when I saw I was out of baccy so today was going to be a long frustrating day.
”Oh a pikey is what we call gypsies, you know since they steal stuff and seem to be able to get away with a lot of stuff.” Finn said and I nodded.
”Doesnt mean you have to label them though, I’m sure everyone steals at some point in their lives and yet we don’t get labeled as a pikey.” I said and a boy came over.

“Not boring you to death is he?” A voice asked and I turned round and so did Finn.
”Fuck off Iero everyone knows you’re trouble.” Finn said.
”Thought I would just come and introduce myself. I’m Frank Iero, if you are in any trouble don’t hesitate to find me.” Frank said and offered me his tattooed hand which I looked at but took his hand and shook it.
”Bit rude that you know my name but I don’t know yours.” Frank said.
”Get lost Frank.” Finn said.
”Fuck off gorger, I wasn’t speaking to you.” Frank said seriously and looked at Finn hard and looked back at me and smiled.
”I’m still waiting for your name.” Frank said and I nodded.
”Gerard, my name is Gerard.” I said quietly.
”Well it was nice meeting you, like I said you get any trouble come and find me.” Frank said.
”Yeah like that will happen pikey, now fuck off and leave Gerard alone, he’s not going to be your next lot of meat.” Finn said and Frank looked seriously at Finn.
”Who I do stuff to is my choice, also I don’t steal stuff from people so don’t call me or my family or even anyone on my travel site a pikey again otherwise you will have to look over your shoulder more often.” Frank said seriously and stood in front of Finn which I guessed Finn didn’t like.
Frank looked back at me.
”Laters Gee.” Frank said with a wink and walked off somewhere.
“You seriously don’t want to get involved with the Iero they are trouble and so is all of that traveling site.” Finn said and I looked at him.
”Who I get involved with really has nothing to do with you. I think I can show myself around thanks.” I said and walked off somewhere and bunked a load of lessons not really caring.
I was sat on the school field losing the will to live since I really needed a cigarette but not having any was just pissing me off even more.
”You look like you could do with a cigarette.” A voice said and I looked up and saw Frank.
”If you have any you would be a literal life saver right now.” I said and Frank chuckled as he sat in front of me and handed me a cigarette which I took and started to smoke it.
”You have no idea how much I needed this.” I said as I blew away the smoke and Frank chuckled at me.
”You know, if you didn’t want to stand out maybe you shouldn’t have bright red hair.” Frank said and I looked at him.
”Don’t hate the hair.” I said and Frank chuckled.
”So goodie two shoes told you what me and sister and brother are then.” Frank said.
”What a pikey? Please I only just learnt what the word means and I never want to hear or use it again.” I said as I had some of my cigarette and I looked at Frank.
”Oh you want me to say that no I don’t want nothing to do with you because you steal stuff and you wouldnt think twice on beating me too death because if that’s what you want then off you fuck.” I said and Frank chuckled.
”You really don’t care do you?” Frank asked and I looked at him.
”Does my face look like it cares because the answer should be no.” I said and Frank smiled which I sort of returned.
”I’m a gypsy, you seriously don’t care about that.” Frank said.
”And I’m a person who has just escaped from the mental hospital and getting ready to blow up the whole school and my name isn’t actually Gerard it’s actually Steven.” I said and looked at Frank Who looked at me confused.
”Are you lying to me or not?” Frank asked confused and I chuckled and shook my head.
”Yeah I’m lying to you, Christ you actually believed shit man I should of pulled that stunt fucking ages ago.” I said and Frank chuckled.
”Look So you get your answer and you don’t have to listen to me sound like a crazy person, the answer is no I do not care you are a gypsy.“ I said and Frank smiled.

”So where are you from then?” I asked and stole another cigarette from Frank since he had his packet of cigarettes on the floor.
”Originally? I have not fucking clue somewhere and then we moved a lot and ended up in this shitty town. Can’t wait to fucking move from it but my mam and pa said that we are settling down here so I have to wait until college or whatever er to get out of here.” Frank said and he looked at me.
”What about you?” Frank asked.
”Lived on the other side of the country and then some shit happened which landed me being in hospital on this side of the country and that’s when me and mum moved to Here. But hey we’re not here to listen to my pathetic sob story.” I said.
”What happened?” Frank asked and I frowned at him.
”I’ve literally just met you today and I’m stealing your cigarettes so my sob story is staying with me until I get to know you better.” I said and Frank smiled.
”How old are you? You must be the same age as me if not a little older but who knows as the tattoos as they make you look older and the lip ring is just terrifying.” I said and Frank laughed.
”So the tattoos don’t scare you but the lip ring does, normally it’s the other way around.” Frank said.
”What can I say, I’m not like other people.” I said and I forgot where I was and who I was with I just rolled my sleeves up revealing the scars I wanted to stay hidden.
Frank looked at my arms and I followed his eye and I felt myself getting really embarrassed and emotional so I quickly rolled my sleeves down and got up grabbing my bag with the cigarette hanging out my mouth.
”I’m sorry, I need to go. Thanks for letting me steal your cigarettes.” I said as I walked off.
”Hey Gee.” I heard frank say from behind me which made me stop and look at him.
”Your arms, I won’t say nothing.” Frank said and I smiled a little and went home.
