Your Heart on the Line

Chapter 9

Only, he didn’t speak. He broke the hug, looked at me with those warm eyes of his, and his lips pressed to mine. Blossoming into an open mouth, we kissed each other, my hands still gripped onto his back and shoulder. As we proceeded, I snaked the hand on his shoulder down his back, pulling up at the tail of his shirt. He took off his shirt quickly, then taking off mine. He lay me down on his bed, locking eyes with me as he put a hand on either side of my hip. His thumbs twirled against my hipbones and lower stomach. I dug my front row of teeth into his lower lip, suppressing the small moans shuddering throughout me.
I reached around his waist, scratching my nails against his back as I moved down his spine. He shivered, smiling still as he kissed me harder. I toyed with the waistband of his briefs, tracing it and plucking fingers against it before giving a small tug. He began to work on the front of his jeans, and I helped work them down his legs.
Once more, his eyes met mine. He undid my pants, pulling them down as he kept his eyes fixed onto mine. He pulled them off from around my ankles and set them to the side. Slowly, he brought tender kisses from my inner knee up to my thigh, making me tremble with anticipation. He brought a finger inside of the leg of my boxers and felt around as he kissed my lower stomach, then my hips. I was putty by that point, and I watched passively as he brought my boxers to my knees.
He worked his way to me, teasing me as he began to use his fingers. I had never been with anyone, and the experience was so much to handle that I all but had a heart palpitation as he brought his tongue towards me. I stopped him, threading fingers into his bangs and pulling them for him to look up at me. He pouted, so I explained, “It’s just a lot, Frankie.”
Bobbing his head, he crawled up towards me, wrapping his arms around me as he wormed his way between me and the wall. He sighed, asking, “Was it good?”
I nodded. “It was.” I eyed his boner, joking, “I think you’re spoken for.”
He blushed a little, crossing his legs in the slightest. “What can I say? You know what you’re doing.”
“Thank God.”
We lay there for what felt like a while, until Frank finally stood, telling, “You should get going home soon. After all, it’s a school night.”
“You’re right,” I agreed. “I just wish you weren’t. I want to stay here.”
He kissed me gently, telling, “I’ll see you tomorrow at school, all right?” He handed me my shirt and pants, both of which I put on slowly. “Let me drive you home.”
On the way to my house, Frank again smoked a cigarette. I watched him suck on it before pulling it away, a fine trail of smoke moving forward through his teeth. He spoke, “Sorry I handled everything so badly, back at the school. I never meant to come off like that.”
“Frank, you were absolutely fine,” I assured. “I still can’t thank you enough for actually stepping in. Seriously, it means a lot.”
Nodding, he pulled into my driveway, telling, “Well, you get yourself in bed and get some sleep, alright? I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Sitting there, I couldn’t help but to feel the slightest bit disappointed. After all, our night was over; the moment I stepped out of that car was the moment it all came to an end. To think that he hadn’t even kissed me goodnight. I got up, glum, and was ready to close the car door when he called, “Gerard, wait.”
I closed it still, walking around to the driver’s side. His window rolled down, he looked at me, the end of his cigarette still in his fingers. He stubbed it into nothing against the black surface of his ashtray as he told, “This was fun tonight, Gerard.” He paused, rubbing his fingertips against each other as if to rid them from any potential ashy debris. He asked, “Do you… do you want to go steady with me, Gerard? Would you be my boyfriend?”
Grinning, I answered, “It would be my pleasure, Frank.” I leaned in through the open window, planting a kiss on his cheek. He smiled, waving a little as I left. He waited until I was in the house safe and sound to even put the car in reverse. That’s how I knew that our connection was growing stronger.
