Gerard and I were talking, of course we started talking about deep stuff. That's what I do talk about mortality. Obviously. I am kinda guilty of only half listening to him because he is just so goddamn beautiful. The small patches of freckles lining his eyes, the way his smile was slightly crooked. 'You get what I mean though, statistically this whole ordeal is baffling,' Gerard sighed. 'Yeah... It's really pathetic...' I said, dreamily looking into his eyes like a Japanese school girl. 'You're not listening... are you?' he laughed, sounding slightly disheartened. My heart sank... Trying to find a response. It was barley an hour and I already messed up. 'I'm sorry, I'm just pretty tired,' I said lifting up my empty coffee cup. Gerard nodded,
'yeah, I wasn't allowed to bring mine in either...'
'So,' I said, 'why'd you come here.' Gerard laughed nervously.
'Belleville Highschool,' he said, giggling, 'not the best school for my brother and I.'
I nodded, I wonder what was so bad about it... I get that it is a public school but I'm not about to be a snob or anything. 'I got a .357 magnum pointed at my head when I was 15, that was fucked up.'
'Jesus, the stuff everyone says about public school was right?' I asked, completely baffled. Gerard laughed and nodded. 'Yea, I guess it's okay if you're popular or something. I don't know if you could tell why I'm not.' He gestured to himself. He wasn't the person you'd think to be 'conventionally beautiful' or whatever you want to say. I mean, teenagers, they're not the nicest people in the world most of the time. I am a teenager what the fuck am I on about. 'Damn, I can't say I've ever been held at gun point but, this place isn't the best either,' I smiled, 'But make yourself comfortable.'
Just as I said that, the bell rang.
