Kiss The Ring
Who They Want You To Be, Who They Wanted To See, Kill The Party With Me And Never Go Home
Riley's POV
I've been looking at myself for five minutes now. I am really dreading going back to school. I mean we only have like two weeks before Christmas break but it's going to be the longest two weeks of my life.
I was lazy today so I threw on some raggedy skinny jeans, my Blink-182 hoodie, and my solid black Vans. I looked out the window to see nothing but white, so I grabbed my beanie and rainbow gloves just in case. I saluted my parents as I walked out to my car, I hang out with Gee and them way too much. I chuckled to my thoughts and headed to Starbucks for a quick pick me up.
I pulled up in the drive thru and saw the coffee empire's best customer, I honked my horn when I pulled up behind them and ducked down in my seat. Gee flicked me off and flushed bright red when he realized it was me. I laughed and flicked him off back just to be sassy. I finally got to the window and grabbed my coffee when I noticed the black Jetta was in the parking lot waiting for me.
"I'll race you.", he called out to me and gave me his signature smirk. I just responded by revving my engine and smirking back. Mikey gave me a five finger countdown, but by two they had already sped off. Luckily I expected this because Gerard never played fair. I turned the opposite way and took this shortcut I discovered one day. When I pulled up to school, I made certain he wasn't in his usual spot, surely enough he wasn't. I parked and just sat on the trunk of my car as I saw them pull up beside me. I could see the shock on Gee's face through the windshield, I tried to keep myself from laughing but he was just dumbfounded beyond belief.
"How the....you were nowhere near me!" He walked over to me still in disbelief. I shrugged and jumped down off the car. I heard him mumble "fucking cheater" under his breath, and punched him in his arm. He winced and punched me back twice as hard.
"Ow asshole! I didn't hit you that hard! Maybe you should stop being a sore loser!", I stuck my tongue out at him and ran up to the rest of the crew. I hid behind Taylor despite the fact that I was almost a foot taller than her, I knew he would leave me alone because Tay is small, but her bite is ten times as scary as her bark and he was well aware of that. He threw his hands in the air to surrender and everyone started laughing.
He lit his death sentence and shrugged. Bob asked him why he was so afraid of "little red riding hood" as he calls her, "Fuck, you guys didn't see what I saw that night at Pete's. She's a fucking monster." He glared down at her and she gave him the sweetest smile I had ever seen. Though she never seemed like she'd do something that, I didn't doubt it for a minute.
School seemed like it ended earlier everyday since I officially became part of "the crew." We were all back at the smoke deck after the bell rang, I sat back and looked over everyone. Frank seemed to be doing a whole lot better since the whole Jamia incident and was air guitaring while Bob was air drumming like usual, Taylor and Mikey were sword fighting with their poster board projects, and Gee and Ray were head banging to Prowler by Iron Maiden. I loved these guys, they did what the fuck they wanted to and didn't give a fuck about what people thought. There aren't many people like that anymore because everyone's so brainwashed by what's "normal" and what isn't. I'll never forget what Frank said to us one night after Mikey had said some bitch kept purposely talking and scoffing during a presentation he was giving.
"Fuck her dude and all her little demons. Who gives a fuck whether someone has blue eyes and blond hair or black and red hair with white out contacts? Who is she to judge you? The only reason people judge us is because we're not their idea of normal just like they're not ours. In reality, you'll never be fucking normal because nobody is fucking normal. There is no one on this god forsaken earth that has any right to tell us what the fuck to wear or do because it's what's accepted in the world. I don't give a fuck about being accepted, no one should, but that's what society makes us believe. That we have to fit in to survive. Total bullshit."
I always loved when Frank went on his rants because he was so passionate about everything. You could tell he was someone who genuinely cared about how the world effected the helpless like young children and he hated what they were molded into. There's no such thing as individuality anymore. Everyone now lives their lives off what their friends and family think. It's a shame that someone can't even walk into their grandparents house and not feel naturally at home because they're gay or dress a certain way, etc, etc. My thought process was soon interrupted when I was thrown over Gee and Bob's shoulders, "Put me down! What the fuck are you doing!?"
"You were sitting there staring into the abyss and weren't listening to any of us. So we took matters into our own hands." They both laughed as they dropped me in front of my car. I gave both of them the bird and dusted myself off. "You coming over tonight still?", Gee asked through the passenger window. I gave him a thumbs up and he pulled off. I started my car as I realized something and started smiling.
I'm finally perfectly happy with my life.
