Give Them All That They Can Drink And It Will Never Be Enough
Riley's POV
It's finally Thanksgiving morning. Gee and Mikey invited everyone over to their house for a big pig out fest. They warned me it's not like your normal Thanksgiving dinner so I can't wait to see what they've got planned.
I examine myself in the mirror, I wanted to try something different today. I combed long dark hair out and grabbed my barber scissors I jacked out of my moms purse.
"Snip...snip, snip, snip"
My hair was now a black shoulder length shaggy mess. I loved it. I combed all my bangs over to the left and pinned back whatever didn't stay put. I slipped into my khaki skinny jeans, worn out boots, and my favorite Jack Skellington tank top, despite the fact that it was snowing blankets at the moment. I lined my chocolate brown eyes with my darkest eyeliner, it always made my dull orbs pop the most. I looked at myself one last time before heading over to the Way house. I shook my hair out with my hand to make it a little more messy, threw my beanie and leather jacket on and headed downstairs.
My parents didn't celebrate the holidays anymore. All they did was watch the news and drink coffee, sometimes arguing about whatever news topic they didn't agree with. I doubt they even remember I exist anymore. I let out a sigh and step into my father's study.
"Happy Thanksgiving.", I said shortly. This was the first time I had made contact with them since summer ended. The atmosphere was so awkward you could cut it with a knife.
"Happy Thanksgiving to you too sweetie, are you off somewhere?", my mom asked, as if she cared. I told them where I was going and they were more than happy to get rid of me. "Well don't let us hold you up, go have fun honey." I waved one last time and walked out to my car. I really don't know why I try, they're never going to change.
I arrive at the Way house and notice a red truck pull up right behind me. Must be Donna's boy toy or something. I walk in the house and everyone greets me at once so there was no telling what they were saying. I gave them all one big wave and they laughed. I told Donna about the red truck and she got a worried look on her face. She rushed out the front door and told me not to let Gee notice. I nodded and walked into the living room where everyone was hanging out.
"Sick fucking shirt dude!", Frank shouted and elbow fived me, his hands were full with a bottle of beer and an Xbox 360 controller. "Awh fuck you Bob! You were always a fucking cheater!" He threw the controller and took a swig of his booze.
I sat next down next to Gee and pinched him. He shot me the meanest glare I've ever seen and we both busted out laughing. "Happy Thanksgiving Gee.", I said smiling. He started to say it back when a buzzed Ray interjected.
"Oh I see, the rest of us aren't good enough for your holiday greetings, huh Riley? Fuck you too then." He was laughing so hard he practically made himself throw up. We all died laughing when he got up to run to the bathroom. "You guys are the worst. No one ever helped me hold my hair.", he flipped his luscious fro and walked past everybody.
Tay tripped him while she was laying in the floor and he faceplanted into the couch. "I don't even think its humanly possible to hold all your hair Toro. ", she said giggling as he jumped on top of her. "Get off me you giant oaf!!"
I saw Ms. Way walk back into the kitchen trying not to distract anyone, I walked over to her and asked her what had happened. "It was Gee and Mikey's father. He comes over every holiday season and tries to make amends, knowing damn well that neither of them want anything to do with him. I honestly think he does it because he knows it gets under Gerard's skin more than anything. You see, those two never had a good relationship. In Gee's eyes, he always favored Mikey and I saw where he was coming from sometimes, he also hated the way we handled our relationship between each other. And when we split, that was the end of any slight relationship they had. Gerard hates his father more than anything in this world. That's why I had you keep his attention because it would've just ruined his whole day, so thank you." I nodded and asked if I could help with dinner. "Of course sugar, I need all the help I can get. Taylor tries to help but she can barely see over the counter!" We both started laughing as we hear little footsteps heading over to us.
"I heard that Donna! Leave my height alone, I mean Frankie's short too!" We laugh when Frank flicks us off from the other side of the room. She was like a little porcelain doll, but very edgy with her red hair and giant chest piece. She told me she sat through eight hours of being under the needle and after I heard that, I had a whole new respect for her.
After hours of slaving and food fights, me and Tay jump in front of the tv and yell "Dinner's ready!" in unison. I don't even know what happened after that, next thing I know the room was empty and everyone was at the table. It's not even ten minutes into the meal and we're all in tears. "Uhm Donna, I don't think that's a vegan turkey so I believe I'm going to have to turn you in for animal cruelty.", Frank hissed sarcastically, "It's always the quiet ones that are the most evil, I tell ya."
"Well my dear Franklin, you throw me in jail and I will make sure to have someone make you want to live in prison.", Donna said calmly and winked. We all laughed as Frank lost all the emotion in his face. They were right, this was the most untraditional Thanksgiving I've been to, but it's also the best.
We were all finished eating and just sat at the table telling stories and shit when the doorbell rings. Mikey volunteers himself and goes to see who it is. We hear Mikey arguing with the person and then the door shuts.
"Gee, why'd you tell Mikey not to let me in?", said Lindsey as she made her way over to the table. "Awh you guys started dinner without me. Bummer." Gerard got up and asked her why she was there. "To celebrate the holidays, duh." She looked down at me and rolled her eyes, "So she can be here but I can't?"
"You know we all hate you Lindsey.", said a voice from behind me. It was Frank and he looked so hurt. I've never seen him like this before. I mean I heard about Jamia, but I don't see why he'd take it out on Lindsey. "Just get the fuck out or we will call the cops."
"Oh Frankie, you're still holding up all that resentment towards me from when I stole your precious boyfriend from you, aren't you?" Boyfriend? Wait...Frank dated Gerard? Next thing I knew Bob and Ray were holding Frank back across the table from lunging at this demon. She hung onto Gerard like she owned him. It disgusted me.
"Get the fuck out Lindsey." She looked at me with shocked eyes. "I don't believe I stuttered, get out.", stood in front of her with my arms crossed. She was trying to come up with something to say, but eventually gave up and left. Gee picked me up and spun me around. Ray and Bob got Frank back in his seat and returned to theirs as well. We all shifted eyes at each other for a few moments in the awkward silence.
"Well that escalated quickly.", Tay chirped. Everyone laughed and the mood was normal again.
After a few more hours of video games and wrestling, everyone started heading home. I helped Donna and Taylor finish cleaning up, then I said my goodbyes and headed out to my car with Gee. "Hey, thanks a lot in there.", he said shyly. He had his hands stuck down in his front pockets and was looking down at his feet. "I really enjoyed tonight. Normally my dad kills the mood and I lock myself in my room.", I thought about what Donna had told me, "I know he showed up. You and ma aren't as sneaky as you thought, plus I heard you guys talking about it." My cheeks flushed with a warm, pink blush and he grabbed the bottom of my chin. Our lips met for a quick second, but it felt like forever. His lips were as soft as rose petals and tastes just as sweet. I could feel his smile against mine as he said goodnight. He opened my car door for me and shut it as I got in. He stood in the snow until I turned the corner.
I could still feel his lips against mine and I hope it never goes away.
