Constellations

Home could be anywhere

The house was huge. A huge gleaming white hallway led to a gleaming white kitchen with glistening worktops and every single knife, spoon and appliance seemed to be in the exact right place. The living room held white leather sofas smelling of strong cleaning spray and a huge plasma tv that was stuck to the wall. Outside a lush green garden spread itself before the white picket fence.

"Sit down guys...." Nick gestured to the sofas and Gerard and Mikey followed sitting down on one of the pristine white sofas opposite Alex and Finley and close to their uncle Nick who sat like a king of cleanliness in his luxurious white chair.
"So.." Nick began grinning, "you like it here?"
"Uh. Yeah. Its very nice here uncle. Your house is very clean and good." Gerard lied. The house was okay but it just didn't feel like a home, it just felt too clinical and it felt like he would never feel comfortable.
"Good. Now then boys, run over to the car and get your suitcases and belongings out while I talk things through with Alex and Finley. Your rooms are upstairs and to the left. Choose one each and no fighting."

He smiled, but again the fake corse smile imbedded its filthy self into Mikey's mind but still they ran to the car and entered the house hauling in their bags behind them. They wandered up the clear glass stairs to the landing, Gerard heading for the first room and Mikey for the second.

The rooms were enormous; gigantic double beds against one white wall and Mikey flopped onto the bed and bounced slightly on the memory foam mattress. He placed his guitar in the corner of the room and shoved his clothes messily into the towering wardrobe. A desk lay on the other side of the room and there he placed the photo of him and his family.

Mikey rushed into Gerards room next door to see that he had done the exact same thing. The two glanced at each other before heading back downstairs and sitting back on the sofa in the living room opposite Alex and Finley who smiled gently.

"Well. I think that's about it." Stated Alex standing up, "we'll leave you two here with your uncle. If you need us then here is mine and Finley's number and you can just give us a ring." After handing them a small bit of paper with numbers scribbled onto it, she and Finley walked out of the room and Nick followed them to the door.
"Goodbye!" Called Mikey and Gerard in unison from the sofa.
"Bye guys!" Alex called as she walked out of the door. Nick smiled as he waved them goodbye and watched as they drove out of his sight. He wondered back into the living room where the two boys sat a little awkwardly on the sofa. His smile disappeared immediately.

Notes
