Constellations

Concrete eye contact

Frank almost skipped with joy down the corridor to get his guitar. Gerard liked him! He'd heard them, accidentally, um, of course...but still Gerard liked him!
He let butterflies flutter around in his stomach before diving into his room and retrieving his black epiphone guitar from the spot next to the CDs which were piled high. Then he almost ran back to Gerard's room and stood waiting nervously at the door, his breaths wild and out of control. He tapped lightly on the door and waited for Gerard to say: "you don't have to knock...I know that it's you Frankie..."

Franks smile shone as he entered the room and looked down to the human that sat awkwardly on their bed, with hair falling perfectly around his pure face and cracked lips slightly parted before a smile emerged. Gerard tucked a strand of hair behind his ear and he patted the spot next to him and Frank sat next to him obediently, he was so close to Gerard now and could feel his soft breaths on his face. It was only now that he was so close that Frank noticed the colours in his eyes, the blues, the browns, the greens, all flooding into one another and swirling endlessly. He stared into them, getting lost in the colours that enclosed his thoughts and took over his mind as if it were travelling through his very veins and feeding the heart which desperately longed for this. Gerard noticed Frank staring at him and pulled his glance away, with a small smile spread across his face.
"Hey! Frank!" He laughed, clicking his fingers to try and revive Frank from his strange staring trance, "Frank...hello?"
"Oh," Frank muttered, "s-sorry..." He looked to the floor as he began to blush bright red.
"It's fine...Don't worry...I was just scared that you'd never snap back into reality."
"Haha." Frank laughed, his cheeks turning an even red-er shade of red (if that's possible). He tried to hide his glowing face, raising his arms and their soft sleeves of his jumper up and covering the bottom of his face so that only his glistening eyes and a little fringe was showing, the rest of his head covered by a hood that wrapped around him. He bit his sleeves slightly as a silence took over the room: not an awkward silence, or a angry or violent one at that, no, more of a content happy silence, the sort of silence in which two people can just be happy without having to speak and just enjoy the others presence.

After a while Gerard's soft voice broke the silence, "Frankie?" He asked.
Frank looked up to him, the bottom half of his face still covered but Gerard could still tell that Franks face grew hotter as he continued speaking.
"How are you going to play guitar with your hands over your face?" Gerard whispered, taking his good (non-broken) arm and tugging gently on Frank's sleeve. Frank let Gerard and his hands fell away from his face to reveal the true shapes and colours of his lips that Gerard reluctantly had to pull his gaze away from.
"Okay...." Frank laughed, his eyes closing slightly, "I suppose you're right..."
Gerard then pulled Frank's hood down, arranging the hair from his eyes whilst both laughed slightly.
"That's better..." Stated Gerard, "I can see all of your face now..."
Frank shuffled by his side and tilted his head slightly to the side giving Gerard huge puppy dog eyes that the red-haired boy just couldn't stop himself from aw-ing at.

"So...." Began Gerard laughing lightly, "what song is it that you're trying to learn?"
Frank tried to rack his brain to think of a song that he could pretend to not be able to play because, Frank totally hadn't just said that so that he could spend more time with Gerard.
"Um..." He muttered, "it's the solo at the end of the song I'm struggling with, its called sixteen saltines..." He lied, he could play that song okay in the first place.
"Okay..."said Gerard looking through the tab book that Frank had handed him until he found the song,"it's by Jack White?"
Frank nodded.
"Okay so play me what you've got so far..."

Frank took a deep breath and played, the first part of the solo went fine but as soon as the solo reached towards the 12th fret Frank began to stumble by accidently sliding up the the 13th fret instead of the 14th and messing up a pull off on purpose, he smiled awkwardly as he did so and panicked, accidently playing the second string instead of the first. He finished the solo and looked up to Gerard, a look of disappointment in himself glowing gently in Franks eyes.
"Hey that was a good start..." Gerard smiled, "we first just need to work on this bit..." He pointed to the page at where it instructed you to slide from the 12th fret to the 14th.
He guided Franks hand and moved his hand gently up the fret board, not only creating the right pitch but also making Frank tremble slightly as he felt Gerard's warmth and kindness soak into him.
"Oh. Thank you..." Frank grinned.
"Oh, and here..." Gerard moved Franks hand up to the 17th fret, showing him how to perform a pull off to the 15th fret before taking him step by step through the rest of the solo until Frank could play it better than beforehand.

"Thank you Gee!" Frank blurted out.
Gerard smiled, "it's fine, it makes up for the fact that I walked into you with pasta earlier today..."
Frank laughed, biting his lip ring and his eyes squinched up, "yeah, we should do this more often...."
Gerard nodded vigorously and a smile of joy spread onto his face as he stared into Franks emerald green eyes, becoming lost in their beauty. He was snapped from his trance by a sharp knock at the door.

"Guys..." It was Alex who opened the door and stepped inside, smiling at the two new friends, "it's school tomorrow so I think its best if you guys start getting ready for bed, lights out at 10:30, okay?"
The boys nodded, Frank thanking Gerard once more, picking up his guitar and then sliding out of the room past Mikey who entered the room and plonked himself back down next to a grinning Gerard.
