*2 days later*

"Sebastian Carter!" A police officer spoke sternly as he ripped Seb from his car that was just pulling up onto the drive. The police stood waiting like gannets but it was too late for Seb to back away now. He was caught. "I am arresting you on suspicion of the murder of Kaitlin Jones." The bald-headed policeman continued as he threw Seb towards the ground, landing swiftly by his side and handcuffing his hands with the smooth metal. The words swam around Seb's mind and muddled up in front of his own eyes.

"You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defense if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence."
"W-what?!" Asked Seb, not expecting to return home and have his face smashed into the gravel, "Kaitlin?! W-what's happened to her?! Where is she?!"
"Oh! Don't you pretend you don't know!" Sneered the police officer, "you know exactly where she is...."
"No! I-I don't! Where is she?!"
"Do I really need to ask you that question Mr. Carter? Are you sure that you didn't depart with her violently last night?!
"No...I was working away...."
"Ha! That's what they all say, isn't it?!" The officer replied dragging Seb back up to his feet, "we have growing evidence for this murder which points strongly towards you. And lets just say that your past record and involvement with the police doesn't get you off on the right foot...." He walked Carter to the police car that lay waiting on the side of the road, sirens wailing. He pushed Seb's head down and threw him into the car.

"K-Kaitlin?! Is she okay? She's safe?! Where is she?!" Seb pleaded as he hung his head in shame.
"Your girlfriend's half way to being in a kingdom, a kingdom that's 2 foot wide and 6 foot deep..." The officer replied, a smile creeping onto his face.
"Excuse me?! WHERE IS SHE?!" Seb asked, a hint of anger growing in his voice.
"Your girlfriend, Kaitlin Jones?"
Seb nodded.
"We are arresting you on the suspicion of her murder, Mr. Carter."

The door slammed in Seb's face before he even had a chance to inhale sharply. Murder?! His fingers started tapping nervously against the glass, his hand rolled into a fist and he hit it repeatedly against his thigh, his arm began to tremble and it traveled up his shoulder and infected his body like an unknown disease. His girlfriend was dead! Fucking dead! Dead! Dead! Shit! Fucking gone and dead as death itself! Fuck! And he was accused of the murder! Ah, fuck!

Tears began to flow from his eyes without him noticing. He simply let them roll on swiftly down his face. He pressed his heated face against the cool glass of the car as it pulled off of the path and drove down the road; heading towards the police station.






"I honestly don't understand you sometimes, Joel! I mean have we not got enough evidence to prove to you that Carter's guilty?" Asked a young female police officer who's brown hair was tied back and wrapped into a neat bun.
"No."
"We have fingerprints of this man found on a baseball bat which was found 500 metres from his girlfriend's body. He's already known to police for violent crimes, he had obviously consumed a large amount of alcohol on the night. And then he drove away and didn't return for a few days, claiming that he had simply been at work. What's more?! We found cigarette ash and fingerprints on the body itself. How can you not see this?!" She explained, leaning on the wall of the house that lay on Castle Hall Road; the scene around her buzzing with police officers and detectives searching for yet more evidence to bring Seb to his knees.
"I understand. But still. I am not convinced. Seems a little suspicious if you ask me."
"Suspicious?!"
"Yes. I just have that feeling. Somebody who's too clever for their own boots has been getting mixed up in all of this...."
"You know what? When have any of your theories ever been right anyway?! Do what you want, Joel. Go solo and investigate by yourself if you believe it that much."
"I will."
"Okay."

And with that the woman walked off, strutting around the place in her overly sized black boots.
The extremely young looking 26 year, to which the name Joel belonged to, didn't even flinch at the departure of his college. This was just the norm, he was used to his ideas being ignored; it happened all the time. His brown hair swept in front of his eyes and he moved it so as he could see through his glassy chocolate coloured eyes. The blue shirt on his back waving in the breeze.
He turned to his side, "hm. Suspicious...." He muttered to himself, "very strange indeed...."

Hello! So, this is the 8th chapter now (I think) and I actually really enjoy writing this! I don't even know why, like the writings not even good but still. Introducing le new character: Joel Merrick!
