Sebastian's heart pounded as he was led, handcuffed as if he was some kind monster. However this was only others perceptions of him. The views of the jury who wrongly believed that he was a drunken abusive man who poisoned his blood stream with alcohol and then murdered his girlfriend viciously in the dead of the woods before fleeing the crime scene. But a perception or first impression is not a person, it is not the real person; only a mere fraction of information that could be the truth or not be the truth. If this were true then first impressions would mean nothing and understanding the person after a length of time would mean everything. Unfortunately for Seb, he was judged on first impressions and was then sentenced to death, therefore not having a length of time for people to understand him. Therefore not having much time left at all.

His own heart beat ripped through his chest as if it knew that it would soon be relieved of its duties. Still Seb walked, the police officer with the stern face dragging him through various doors of the building, turning left and right and down some stairs and right and left and another left; so that even if Seb managed to run away he probably wouldn't be able to find his way back to civilisation, anyway.
He followed helplessly. The words still ringing through his mind: "Sebastian Carter....you have been found guilty of the murder of Kaitlin Jones, age 24.....you will fulfil your punishment.....in 3 days time you will be hung from the neck until dead.....hung from the neck until dead....hung....."

He tried to shake the thoughts from his mind but they stuck around like sommat in your teeth. Though he promised himself that he wouldn't cry or be weak in death; when he sat down on an old rusting chair in an empty box grey room he couldn't prevent his eyes from welling up. He let the salty tears drip helplessly from his closing eyes and didn't react as they ran down the soft skin of his face. And there he waited, hands gripping the chair, feet tapping restlessly against the ground. The door to his left his only focus point. The door with no window, no cracks, no escape.

Kaitlin flickered through his mind. The thoughts of her blooded corpse, her desperation, the times that they'd shared together terrorised through his brain. 'Maybe I did do it after all' he thought to himself, 'maybe I was just so drunk that I forgot everything.' His head jolted upright, 'no!' His heart yelled to his brain, 'she was murdered, you where no-where near.'
'Exactly! You should have been there to save her!'

Too late now. A man appeared at the door. His eyes staring towards the ground and an almost sad expression latched onto his face. His curled blond hair hiding a set of sympathetic eyes.
"Excuse me...." He mumbled.
Sebastian looked up towards him, wiping the last of his tears from his eyes.
"Sebastian Carter?"
He nodded.
"Okay. We are ready for you sir. If you would please follow me..." The man said, opening the windowless door at the left hand side of the room. He guided Sebastian inside where a single noose hung, awaiting his entrance. Sebastian was led up the stairs where he stood shaking, but gritted his teeth in defence. Nothing could hide the look of pure terror that lay on his face, the trembling lips, the innocent eyes. Now stood on the stairs the rope was taken and placed over his head and around his neck as if it where simply a necklace. A harmless piece of jewellery.

"Anything that you'd wish to say, sir?" Asked the blond-haired man.
"Promise me. Promise me that you will find justice for Kaitlin. Promise me that my family will not miss me and will carry on happily...." He paused for a moment, his words shaking as much as he was, "Promise me that you'll find the truth....the real killer."
He was finished, a bag being placed over his head signifying that this was it. His time had ended.
The door with no windows closed, hiding Seb's innocent body from the world. He swung gently.

Notes

Hello there. Hope this was okay.
(I have a cactus and they need a name. Any suggestions?)
btw. I made a plan at chapter 2 and the whole story up to this point was supposed to take about 7 chapters. And we're on like 15 or something. Oops.
Anyway thanks for reading. Next chapter will be up soon. :) x
