The Black Rose
Prologue-How He Disappeared
He soars upwards, and as he looks behind him, he sees his body lying on the hospital bed. He glances at his emaciated frame, his bald head that once held thick black hair peeking over the sheets, sharp amber eyes that have just closed for the last time on his thin face. Cancer must have taken him a week early. He wonders he should stay until the doctors returned, but quickly dismisses the idea. Nobody ever truly cared about him, so his death should be discharged easily. He turns his head to look at the tunnel ahead. There is nothing but a black vortex carrying the folds of Time, with a light, a faint, white glimmer in the far distance. He pushes ahead, wanting the peace promised after death. Peace was the only thing he ever asked for, and if wasn’t given to him in his life, it should be given to him through his demise. He focuses his attention to the passageway, as it had suddenly gotten horribly cold, and with the thin hospital gown being extremely thin, he was freezing. He didn’t mind, as being cold or warm could no longer affect him. He was past caring. He just wanted to rest. Death was always compared to sleep, so when would his oblivion begin? His mind starts to drift a little as the light draws nearer and nearer. He is sucked into the light, and as it encases him, he hears a marching band off in the distance.
