Wrong Kind of Heroes

Take It Slow

When Frank walked into the school, only one thought was on his mind. This year wasn't going to be like the others. Frank had always been a secret bitch, someone who acted nice and cheery outside when inside he was cursing at you with words that would make a sailor's jaw drop. This year was new, the school was new, and it was Frank's chance to be new. He was tired of being the nice kid, third of being walked all over as if he was just some doormat.

So caught up in his affirmations to himself, Frank was quick to fall out of line and check another boy in the shoulder. Frank almost stumbled from the impact, turning around only to be faced with a much taller boy who looked both menacing and almost calm at the same time.

"The fuck was that? Watch where you're going, asshole." The boy snapped, sneering at Frank from above.

It was times like this that Frank hated his height. It was hard to look or feel intimidating when you're a good foot shorter than someone. He dropped his head, starting to mutter an apology before he stopped himself. What had he just be saying? He needed to stand up for himself, and doing so in front of this kid was no exception. "No."

"What?" The boy snarled, his lip curled up above his teeth.

"I said no." Frank stated, shifting his weight to one foot and crossing his arms, glaring daggers right back at the other. "You should watch where you're going. I'm not going to bow down to someone so pathetically skinny and weak."

Frank regretted the words almost instantly at the blazing in the other boy's eyes. The icy stare had an almost… supernatural quality to it. Frank held back a slight shiver, maintaining eye contact in an attempt to remain in some sense of power.

"No one- no one- speaks to me like that." The other boy hissed, fists clenched and his eyes becoming impossibly more icy. Frank felt something in his mind, what felt like someone or something creeping in from a back corner. If he didn't know any better, he'd say it was the boy towering over him a mere six inches away.

Frank tried to beat back the creeping, but nothing seemed to work. Without even realizing it, he started to growl low in his throat. "Knock it off."

The boy in front of him only seemed to narrow his eyes a tiny bit, and the intruding force in the back of Frank's mind seemed to double in strength. Frank's teeth clenched, anger boiling in his blood as he struggled to fight the control, feeling pain seep into his brain. Without thinking, Frank closed his eyes and snarled "I said enough!"

Suddenly the parasite was gone, and the pain had faded away. He opened his eyes only to see the boy in front of him looking mildly startled. Frank could practically hear the gears whirring in the kid's head as he stared at Frank, gaze narrowed. The boy seemed to decide something, and grabbed a hold of Frank's arm.

"You're coming with me."

Frank's face wrinkled with disgust, and he tried to pull his arm from the boy's grip. "What the fuck? No way." Despite Frank's best attempts, the kid was stronger than he looked. "Let me go!"

The kid ignored Frank's demands, dragging him onwards like a misbehaving child. "I said let go!"

Frank yanked harder, but without need. The boy had let go faster than Frank thought possible, his hand jerking back as though he'd been burned. The kid rubbed his hand, grimacing as Frank started backing up.

"Fine," the kid muttered, steely eyes turning to Frank. "We'll do this the hard way."

Before Frank could process what was happening the monster in his head was back, and this time infinitely stronger. In less than a second Frank had crumpled to the floor, completely unconscious.

The taller male sighed through his nose, hoisting the boy casually over his shoulder and heading out the back, avoiding being seen as he walked off campus, and towards the old sewer mainframe that would take them where the boy knew this kid needed to go. He had people to meet.

Notes

First chapter of a new story, haha! This is kind of inspired by Twenty One Pilot's song Heathens and the new movie Suicide Squad. Kind of. I haven't actually seen the movie, so unless some crazy coincidence occurs there is no way it will be a carbon copy, although there will likely be some very similar elements. Anyways! I'll stop with the chit chat and sign off here, with the promise of a new chapter soon. Till then, killjoys~

@imakilljoywannabe
I get that...ideas poke my head all the time, but they rarely add up to a fic these days.

@Gee'sCLUELESSgirl!
Haha, thanks so much! ^u^ I know there generally isn't much of a market for these kinds of stories on here, but the idea was poking at the back of my head and I couldn't help myself. >w< I hope you like what comes too!

I'm not usually into sci-fi/fantasy unless it's vampires or werewolves, but I thought I'd give this a look, and I'm really glad I did...I LOVE THIS SO FAR, and I can't wait to see where it goes. X
