A Life of Crime
Insensitive
Friday, June 10 9:48pm:
Naomi was walking home as fast as she could, without seeming like she was scared, which she was. Being a girl in her neighborhood was dangerous, especially at night. Although wearing the clothes she was, Naomi sure didn’t look the part. She was wearing a big black hoodie which casted shadows that covered her face, and baggy jeans that hid any curves that would give away her gender.
“Naomi? Is that you?” said a man walking out of an alley she had just passed. Naomi stopped, and turned around on her heels. “Yeah that’s you.” He whistled and two more men came out. He began to laugh, “You, you are one evasive chick. You know that? But not nearly as evasive as your parents, how are they by the way?” Naomi turned her head to look at the ground.
“They’re good. Look Wally, I don’t have your money, okay? Just let me go home, I can get it for you there.” She tried to negotiate her way out of the situation calmly, but Wally wasn’t having it.
“Really, you can do that?” he asked with fake joy, that Naomi couldn’t see because of her fear.
“Yeah, yeah, j-just let me go and I can tell my parents to give you the money they owe you.” She replied, anxious to get out of this situation.
“Heheh, no.” replied Wally “Here’s the thing, it’s been seven months. That’s more than enough to gather up the five thousand dollars you owe us.”
“You mean, ‘your parents owe us’, and…” her sentence drifted off, she didn’t know what else she could say.
“Alright, we’ll just have to send them a message. Boys, rough her up a bit…I’ll write the final message.” He gave a devious smile.
Across the street in an alley, stood five people, they were scoping out a Jewelry store. The store, that Naomi was right in front of. Ray was the only one actually looking, Mikey was arguing with Valentine, and Frank was thinking about what he had done in the last 8 months since he joined the group.
“Guys, I think we might have a problem.” Said Ray to his partners in crime. The group turned their heads to look at the problem.
“It’s probably nothing, just some guy playing Batman, they’re just gonna ruff him up a bit and they’re all gonna leave. One of course, a lot more ashamed, but still, it’ll all work out.” Said Frank, and the whole group looked away, to not get involved in that business.
Naomi was now being hoisted up; one of the men grabbed her throat to hold her up. They had punched and kicked her multiple times. She was bruised and bleeding, and completely limp from exhaustion. Her hood was on, but she could still see the knife in Wally’s hand. The other guy lifted her shirt and hoodie from the bottom, exposing her abdomen.
“My turn.” With clenched teeth, he began to cut; he made a line right down the center from the ribs to the bellybutton. He then cut a triangle with a heart inside into her side, it was no bigger than two square inches.
“Just so they know who the message is from. Trust me, we would much rather hurt them, but they’re no where to be seen, and we have no idea where you guys live.” He put the knife away with a smile. “So just tell them, along with the message I wrote, that if they don’t pay us back, we’re gonna keep hurting their little girl.” Wally and the two other men walked away. Naomi stood up slowly, leaning against the glass window of the jewelry store for support.
“Joke’s on you, my parents don’t care about me.” She chuckled grimly as anger surged through her. She hit the glass window with the side of her fist, shattering it to bits. Naomi wasn’t expecting that, how was she supposed to know it was old, weak, and thin? The glass fell to the ground some of it lodged into her hand. She screamed in pain, got against the brick wall next to the hollow space where the window used to be and slid down to take a seat on the floor. She whimpered at her misery.
“Now I’m gonna have to pay this off.” She said to herself on the verge of tears. She couldn’t move any more, and the alarm was going off. “And now, I’m going to have problems with the law, great.” She said sarcastically.
Meanwhile the five people across the street were freaking out. Their job had just been botched by some crap vigilantly.
“Guys, we have 5 minutes before the cops get here, are we going through with this?” asked Ray.
“Yeah, we’re doing this.” Said Mikey “First, we gotta get that guy out of there, no witnesses.”
“Great idea, Frank, get him outta there.” Ordered Valentine.
“And do what?”
“Take him to the hospital or something; he just got the crap beat out of him!”
“I don’t want this job. I wanna go in there.” argued Frank.
“Four minutes.” Said Ray, just to inform the group on how urgent this was. “We have to go now.”
“Frank, we don’t have much time just go, you’ll still get your cut.”
“Ugh fine!” he said and ran over to Naomi. Naomi looked at the man running towards her. He got close and threw her over his shoulder. She yelled in pain, he ignored it and ran off quickly turning the corner so his partners could do their job.
“You my night in shining armor?” she chuckled, trying to make light of her situation.
“Shut up.” Naomi considered it, talking did hurt at the moment, but it also distracted her.
“Jesus I thought you knights were supposed to be more gentle with the damsels?”
“What damsels?”
“Wow, I admit I’m not the most feminine, but I am still a girl.” Frank laughed at this.
“I saw you walking and getting beat up, not a single scream or squeal, also you lack curves. There’s no way-why is my shirt wet?”
“Oh I knew something was wrong. I’m bleeding, a lot, put me down. Your running isn’t helping it stop.”
“I thought you only cut your hand?”
“I did only cut my hand, but those bastards cut me somewhere else. Also, I have beautiful curves.” Frank put her down against the wall, not like he had to take this ‘guy’ to the hospital; he really just needed to get her away from the store. Naomi lifted up her hoodie and shirt, “Will I need stitches?” Frank’s eyes widened. There was a lot of blood, what’s more is, she really was a girl.
“Let me get a closer look.” He kneeled over and touching the area around the wounds. “We have to get you to a hospital.”
“No! No hospitals, I can’t afford that, my parents will kill me. The cops will ask questions.”
“Well if we don’t go, you’ll bleed out! Would you rather die than just face your parents and talk to the cops.”
“I talk to them, I’m dead anyways.”
“What the hell kind of life are you living?”
“Look around! This town doesn’t exactly scream suburban nine to fivers.”
“I’m taking you to the hospital.” He asserted and lifted her up more gently this time, running towards the hospital again despite her protests.
Notes
So yup, this is my first straight fic. No Gerard, is that weird? i just couldn't see him as any of the characters I had created and didn't want anymore on he So this is it. I hope you guys like it, leave a comment, and as always take care my lovelies(^-^)
@Lollita:3
I totally don't think it's as strange or out there as some people may think. Just cause he's part of the band doesn't mean he needs to be in every fic. He's not in the one I'm currently writing either lol.
