Those Dumb Fan Fiction Moments

"It's not rape if you like it."

This isn't going to be so much of a funny rant. It'll be more of a intense, angry rant because this is something that gets to me.

Not just on here, but on other fanfiction sites as well, I've seen the phrase up above. ^^ It REALLY pisses me off when people decide that it's okay to put that in their stories.

Yes, sometimes writers like to spice things up and add some scenes that could possibly be unsettling. However, let's not coin this phrase or romanticize rape culture.

Some writers forget that younger audiences could be reading these fanfictions. Swears are one thing, but romanticizing sexual assault is another. You may think, "Oh, well, younger people shouldn't be on here because of the content of the site." That's challenging when almost every younger kid has a device available to them at all times.

I recently read a Wattpad "story" (it was basically just information and finding a way to make people aware) said: "She/he may have enjoyed it. but they did not give consent. If the victim has not given consent, then it is rape...Yes, I fully understand that the character has said this because that's who they are and what they would say, but it's rude and disrespectful and very degrading towards people who have been sexually assaulted. Oh, and extremely unoriginal" (intersectional feminism, Wattpad, 2016).

The author(s) said it pretty well and I agree.

Just a PSA. Not saying that all of you do this, but just the few that may have on here and other fanfiction websites.

OMGEEWAY the grammar thing. SOOOOOOOOOOOO ANOYYING!

Definitely. Tagging is very useful, especially with those kinds of topics, as some people might be sensitive to them. However, a lot of people don't tag their stories, saying that there's these touchy subjects within it. When people go to read them, they get a shock that might not always be pleasant.
Kudos to you for actually tagging things. (:

I have to strongly agree with this last chapter. If I have any thing even remotely close to a scene where a character is not agreeable to what is happening, I will at least mark it Dubious consent in the tags, but is the five major, I will alWays tag Rape/Non Con. It's just the right thing to do.

I also DO NOT romanticize that kind of behavior at all. If the victim ends up with feelings toward their rapist, that is not love, it's Stockholm syndrome, which is a very real thing and should be tagged as such.

I realize a lot of my readers are under 18 so I am careful to mark my tags properly as well as make notes and comments to explain the chapters. I don;t understand why this subject gets passed over a lot in tagging, but self harm or bullying has bright red flags all over it. This deserves the brightest honestly. :(

I disagree with the siblings. Gee and Mikey are very affectionate to each other because Gerard said growing up he had to pretend Mikey, and they kiss on the cheek all the fucking time? There's gifs of it. And they don't romanticly cuddle but they do cuddle. They are very close.
And it's just fan Fiction a reminder. Pretty sure waycest is not real so don't take it to heart
