Lilian ran back to thomas "i like you more than a proper lady should"

Thomas was overjoyed but upset that he must deny simple properarity states it and hes already braking most rules by simply being an orphan. And more importantly what would lilian think if she knew. he had to say it but he knew he would regret it so he put it as nice as his fourteen year old mind could put it "i'm sorry but i must deny"

lilians brows furrowed "d-deny what do you mean deny"

"I cant love you besides you could get someone much better than me" said thomas thinking about the life she could have that he couldn't dream of.

"y-you dont like me" she said her voice cracking and her eyes watering. lilian thought about how everything else was turning to shit now her only friendship was going to be ruined because of this.

"lilian no its just" but he cut her off by leaving.

she turned around and said "just what tom"

"i i i um" but it was hopeless he would never get the words out

"yes?" she said raising an eyebrow

"I just can't" tom admitted pathetically

"o-oh ... im sorry " she mumbled before running home

she left thomas there on the orphanage step dumbfounded and speechless

Frank stumbled around the kitchen drunkenly looking for the next bottle. Lilian gently closed the door coming into the house. she feared him for recently he had been angered more easily. Since lilian was already sensitive this was nerve racking.

lillian looked up nervously" h-hi dad"

frank turned around quickly almost falling over he no longer cared about letting his daughter know he was drunk. "heloooo darling " he slurred.

lilian was relived he was in a good mood and smiled at him :How are you"

"im wasted" he said slurry and absolutely out of his mind "how are you"

" imm .. okay" she smiled going up to hug her dad

"thats amazing" he said feeling happier and thinking maybe this all i need no alcohol just to have a bunch of father daughter moments with lilian to feel better "do you want to go get ice cream"

she then nodded excitingly
