Author's Notes - Brief Summaries and Explanations for ''A Red Haired Heaven''
Concept created for the title:
As Frank entered in a 2 year coma after an unfortunate car crash, the only memory he was able to keep one way or other was the last thing he had seen before his slumber: blood. The crimson color was what his brain portrayed on his dream in Gerard's hair. The fact that his hair color remained the same for two years of their relationship is a permanent reminder of his last memory.
Frank wasn't the son his parents once wished he would turn to be; since early years, his grandma had raised him with cherish and love, unlike them. Being neglected by his parents, Frank adopted a pretty self-destructive posture in life - a daily quest for parties in which several drugs would numb the boy, and in addition the sexuality issues that remained unsolved and with loose ends would make him dwell in unwanted thoughts.
The mention of Frank's job at the Celebration Club is a reminder given by his brain of what he had always been passionate about.
The use of the wording ''Red Haired Heaven'' happens due to the ''blood reminder/memory'' and the ''angelic'' or ''dreamy'' part related to Gerard.
The car crash:
Frank was being driven home two years before, after a party, before the accident took place. His body was left with a broken leg (Mikey's leg injury reference) and a broken clavicle (Frank's shoulder injury with the shot in the dream), as well as with a brain hemorrhage.
Character backstories and development:
Lindsey, Sam and Mikey: products of his mind purely, in which he reflected some sides of his personality.
Layla: Friends with Gerard in the dream; bartender at the Demolograph. She was the nurse who took care of Frank during the second year of his coma. Would talk to him because she believed he could hear her sometimes, therefore stories she would tell him about her or her family (Alice, Richard, Helena and Alexander), the brain ''picked up'' and portrayed in his dream.
Dr. Vicenzo: The actual doctor who took Frank two years previous, who was happily married to Brian.
Jason: The ''friend'' who drove Frank home.
Gerard: After Frank spends the time required to remain at the hospital for evaluations and therapy he returns home; After all the cleaning in his dusty apartment he decides to go for a coffee near his home and meets Gerard exactly how he had dreamed, bringing up the whole subject of soulmates approached on the initial chapters.
