A Red-Haired Heaven

Chapter Two - Spring is Coming

I think I got up around eleven in the morning, the next day. I noticed I probably slept like a rock by the uncomfortably dry string of drool that was on my cheek. Drool on my face was just uncomfortable, okay?
I got off the couch stretching my whole body and yawing, and made my way to the window to check the weather. I was happy to see that, after the rain of the day before, the sun was shining and the sky was really damn blue, without the hint of a cloud. Mother Nature can be quite a surprise sometimes.
I felt what it was like a rope trying to strangle my stomach slightly, meaning what I thought. I was starving and honestly, craving for a nice latte too.
I took a shower and put on my ripped black jeans and a Misfits tshirt, along with my always-present lip ring. It was probably my favorite thing about me. Maybe the only thing (well, that and obviously my tattoos). I went back to the window and realised the weather was actually nice enough for me to go out without a jacket, so I picked up my things and thought of going to the coffee shop near the park (which was really close to my apartment).

Barely did I knew i was on my way to meet someone who was pretty much heaven on earth.

The walk to the coffee shop was really good, but I really was fucking hungry, so I sat outside with my sketchbook and waited to order something to eat along with my precious latte.
I wasn't a big deal of a drawing artist, like, at all, but there was something about drawing lines or whatever it was that relaxed me. Especially whenever I did that while listening to The Ballad of Dwight Fry, by Alice Cooper. I just find that song so magical.
A great thing about that coffee shop was that, inside, there was a part with vinyls, comics and collectible figures, all that nerdy stuff, but it was that kind of nerdy stuff that I loved, and pretty much what I had going in terms of decoration in my apartment.

When my order arrived, I made the decision of taking off one of my earphones. I wanted to enjoy that bit with my music, but also with the sounds around me. Y'know. Birds, the wind caressing the new leafs that were growing on top of the trees. And I have to say, I would drown in regret if I never took that earphone off. Because It was on that sunny spring day that I met him. That gorgeous, hazel-eyed creature.

He sat on the table near mine. He ordered a large coffee and that was the first time I heard his gentle, melodic voice. On that exact moment he caught my attention, and my eyes were drawn to him. I felt obligated to take off my other earphone. He was wearing sunglasses but I could tell he had noticed me, because he lowered his head to look at me above his sunglasses; he noticed I was looking at him and he looked back while showing the most comforting smile I had ever seen, while conducting his hand through his bright red hair. Obviously dyed hair, that wasn't a ''natural'' colour for one to have, which actually suited his face in the most wonderful way. He left my heart bouncing around inside me like nothing else could or had done it before. And after a couple seconds of no reaction from my behalf, I was finally able to give him back a shy smile while I was mixing the sugar in my latte.
As soon as he finished his coffee, he got up, and came towards me with his comic book under his arm. I was almost passing out of excitement and fear… but then again, I took a deep breath, he smiled and spoke to me.
- Hey, um, I hope I didn’t made you feel uncomfortable back there. It’s just… my eyes were attracted to this table where you are now.

(I didn’t knew what to answer to not look like a freak.)

- It's fine, don't worry about it.

(N
eedless to say I felt my face blushing like crazy. He smiled again.)

- Do you think it would be okay if I asked you to join me on a walk through the park?
- No, not at all! I’d love that. - I told him this astonishingly calm and chilled. It was so weird.

We left the coffee shop and I couldn’t stop noticing his sweet aroma, while he was walking right beside me. The gentle wind also helped with that.

- It’s a wonderful day, don’t you agree? – He asked.
- Yeah, absolutely! – I answered, with a shy smile.
- So, I was wondering... What did I do exactly to grab the attention of such a good looking guy?

Fuck, he truly was sweet. And polite, to be honest. Like, his tone was adorable but also showing respect towards me, and I sure wasn't used to that.

- Well, um... I saw your comic book on the table and I was just trying to see what was it.

(Really, Frank? That is the best you can do? Jesus Christ.)

- Oh, this one? - he chuckled, raising it up. - It's just a Batman comic.
- Whoa, Batman is like, my favorite super hero! I mean, technically he's a vigilante, or a detective, but I think you get what I'm trying to say.
He sounded surprised.
- You know, not many people know that. In fact, you must be the first person I know to actually understand about that detail.

I felt myself blushing again. That guy managed to do that twice already. Fuck.
