Me, Myself, and I

Chapter Two

Chris and Frank were fighting. Loudly. Right outside the bedroom. Frank was still hungover, I could tell from the intonation to his voice.
“You're not even legal! You're twenty!” Chris snapped.
Frank groaned. “We get it, you're an old man! I'm sorry for what happened between me and Gee, but that's our shit, okay? It's not-”
“It becomes my problem when he comes to Kahleu's in his slippers and starts crying in the back room..” Chris said firmly, but more quietly.
“Shit...look. I'm not gonna stop drinking. I'm celebrating, with my friends, with my friends with benefits, and I'm doing super great at work. I'm gonna be at the top soon, I swear! It's gonna be great. But I have to prove I can hang with the cool kids of the company..”
Chris shifted and paused, then sighed. “I think...I think if your work is so important that you'd rather hurt your pregnant boyfriend than miss a chance for a promotion, you're living in the wrong house..” He murmured before opening the bedroom door and slipping in. I sat up and he sighed, walking over to me. “How much did you hear..?”
I shrugged and rubbed my damp eyes. “Most of it, I guess. Do you really think..?”
Chris shook his head and sat next to me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. “Frank cares about you way more than his job. He's just young and stupid and figuring stuff out. He loves kids, and there's a chance that baby cooking in there is his. Or mine. Either way, he's gonna love it and he's gonna go nuts over caring for it, and you. He's just got to settle into the idea of being a dad..”
I nodded slightly and Chris kissed my cheek softly. “Breakfast..?”
I giggled and kissed the corner of his lips. “Mmh, hot dogs..”
He rolled his eyes and got up, rubbing my shoulder. “Get showered and dressed and it'll be ready..”

I curled up against Chris's chest as he sat down, purring softly. He rubbed my stomach lightly and kissed my cheek. “Cute. I have to work a really long shift today, baby...I have to be there at six and home at two..”
I pouted and sighed. “M’kay...I hope Frank comes home soon..”
Chris played with my hair gently and sighed as well. “He's upset and guilty...and don't you dare feel bad about it...it's not your fault..”
I shrugged and buried my face in his neck tiredly. Chris combed his fingers through my hair slowly. “Silly baby..” He cooed softly. “You're okay...I love you..”
I sniffled and shifted in his lap, smiling slightly as he kissed my jaw. “Shh. I've got you..”
I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep.

I opened my eyes and screamed. I was on the couch on my own, the cushions and my body both covered in blood. I could hear Frank and Chris yelling, and a baby crying, but I couldn't see anything except blood. Blood was running down my legs, drenching the carpet, my sweatpants, and spreading out in a blooming pool of sticky death. I screamed again, crying out for Chris and Frank.

Chris shook me awake gently and I immediately grabbed onto him, scrambling to get closer. He was singing softly, rocking me slightly as he stroked my back slowly. I'd had countless nightmares of miscarriages, and I'd told Chris about all of them. I was terrified of losing my baby. The lock clicked on the front door and Frank slipped in, kicking his shoes off and hanging his coat up. He jogged over and threw himself down next to me and Chris, rubbing my side. “Hey Gee..” He said brightly. Chris shushed him and batted his hand away gently. “Hey. He had another bad dream, be careful..”
Frank sighed and tugged me off Chris's lap into his, wrapping his arms around me. “Silly Gee. You're healthy, the baby's healthy, nothing is gonna happen. Chris and I will make sure of that. You gotta stop worrying, yeah..?”
I buried my face in my hands, pressing myself into Frank's warmth and looking at Chris through my fingers. His jaw was tight, his eyes hard and angry. He didn't like it when Frank did this, but he knew he couldn't say anything. I sat up, kissing Chris's cheek and wiping the tears from my eyes. “M’okay...we should go get lunch...while we’re all here..”
I forced a smile, reaching out to Chris as Frank jumped up. “Yes!”
Chris sighed and got up next to me, his hand brushing my back lightly as he looked down at me worriedly. I shrugged and sniffled, leaning my head on his shoulder. “You'll be okay. He's right..” Chris whispered softly. “It's not the same..”
I kicked at the carpet and nodded. “I know. But...it's irrational..”
He scooped me up and dumped my coat and shoes on my chest, hurrying after Frank, who had vanished while we were talking. “I know. We're both here for you..”

As usual, Chris sat next to me, Frank across from me at lunch. It was just the way it had always been. I leaned into Chris, looking through the menu with him and humming to myself softly. Frank was wriggling in his chair, impatient for the lemonade he'd ordered. Chris shot him a look every now and then, rolling his eyes. Frank got on everyone's nerves.
I thanked the waitress when she brought our drinks, ordering for all of us. Frank leaned across the table as soon as she'd gone, grabbing my hand. “Geebe...I'm sorry about last night..”
I kissed his knuckles softly. “I forgive you…”
He grinned and jumped up, planting a firm kiss on Chris's lips. Chris chuckled and gently pushed Frank back down into his chair. “Stop..” He said with fake anger. “You're making a scene..”
I giggled and Frank rolled his eyes. “Don't I always..?”
I looked up at Chris, smiling to myself. “He's got a point..” I pointed out quietly, giggling again. Chris just rolled his eyes and wrapped an arm around my waist. “I love you guys..”
I blushed and Frank just grinned, sipping at his lemonade.
I loved it when we went out on dates together. It felt right, all of us around a table, laughing and joking and kissing. I loved sharing moments with my boyfriends, and knowing they loved me. I felt accepted and included and I knew I'd found my real family.

Chris dropped us at home and headed off to work, leaving Frank and I alone. He smiled at me apologetically and offered me his hand. “Wanna take a bath..?”
I smiled and nodded quickly, following him upstairs eagerly. He started running the bath, stirring in foamy soap before tugging me to him. “Cutie..” He purred, slipping my shirt off and kissing over my collarbone. I moaned softly and tangled my fingers in Frank's hair, leaning back against the wall as he kissed down my chest and stomach. His warm fingers wrapped around the waistband of my maternity jeans, undoing the button carefully and kissing my hips. “These are getting too tight, baby..” Frank commented, running a fingertip over the lines the fabric had left in my skin. “I'll take you shopping soon, yeah..?”
I nodded and smiled down at him shyly, watching as he dragged my jeans down to my ankles. He leaned up and kissed the fabric of my boxers lightly. I giggled and stroked his cheek. “How long has it been..?” I asked a little sadly. He frowned and stood up, hugging me gently. “It's been a while, I know. But I love you so so much, and you'll always be beautiful to me. I've just been really busy..”
I sighed and gently pushed him away from me, kicking my boxers off. “Mmh. Okay. I'm cold..”
Frank rubbed his eyes and sighed. “Yeah..”
He got undressed and helped me into the bath, sitting across from me. Frank grabbed the soap and kissed me softly as he washed me off carefully, the bar running over my shaft before slipping over my clit. I gasped quietly into the kiss, instinctively rolling my hips up against his hand. He smiled and pulled back slightly, rinsing me off. “Shh. Not right now, okay? Lemme be a little more romantic first. I wanna take care of you..”
I giggled happily and leaned into his touch, his fingers spreading on my swollen belly. “My baby daddy..” Frank laughed, kissing me quickly and starting to mark up my neck slowly and gently. I grinned and wrapped my arms around his neck, relaxing.

I woke up in the middle of the night to find Frank gone. I sighed and wandered to the bathroom, wiping the remnants of sex off my stomach and thighs before pulling a soft bathrobe around my goosebumpy, naked body. I could hear voices downstairs, so I headed down the hall, glancing at the clock on the way. It was almost three in the morning. I crept down the stairs and grinned to myself. Chris and Frank were curled up together on the couch, Frank in Chris's lap. They were fast asleep, comfortable and happy together. The tv was running, so I turned it off and tugged a blanket over the two before heading back to bed. They could be so sweet with each other.
