The Rush
The Silence Was Broken By Screeching Wheels, And Dare Devils
The rush of adrenaline was nothing in comparison to the commotion surrounding me. "Move it!" "C'mon let me see." "You're too tall, move!" Voices erupted around me, but I was fading away fr them. our quiet little town had just been raided in a sense by a large bus with tinted windows, and we had no idea where it was from or why it was even here. Most of the people in the little coffee shop perched on the booths to peer outside the window and gawk, while passerby's outside stood and stared, ignoring any pretense of politeness. I still made my way to the back of the shop and into the kitchen somehow, even though the majority of our customers had haphazardly strewn their chairs about. "This'll do no good." Auntie May waved her spatula at me as she peered through her window above the stove. "I tell you nothin' good ever came from strangers. specially not strangers that find it necessary to ride in one of those big ol' buses." I shrugged my shoulders and sat on the stool beside her."Seems pretty exciting to me...." Auntie May just rolled her eyes and flipped her eggs. "You say tht, but I reckon that they'll send our good town down hill, probably whisk a few of our best ladies from us.She shook her head and started up a batch of hash browns. "Diana and I'll be the only eligible ladies in this town." She took a second to lean towards me and then smirked. "And I don't think either one of us is gonna windup settlin' down with any of these old coots." She laughed and I laughed with her, but I was still curious about the people on the bus. "What do you think they're like?" Aunty May rested a hand on her hip and tapped her chin. "Well I reckon they're not too good, the kind of ruffians your father worries about, and the kind that shows up to church half way through the second hymn." That piqued my interest, someone who wasn't trapped in this small town, who knew what it was like to explore, and have a freedom from everyone around them. "Think they'll want something to eat?" Auntie May pursed her lips and stuck her hand out at me. "Now don't you go gettin' any funky ideas now Miss Jane Everrett, you do that and I'll have you scrubbin' the stove till it shines like a pearl." I rolled my eyes and mock bowed as I stood. "Why I declare, such a thought could never come to such a refined lady like myself." I laughed and left the kitchen to brace the gossips,an the new comers. "You see the one with the black hair?" Betty Jane was whispering away to her long time gossip partner Gracie Anne. "Yes I did! Mangy, Greasy, looked as if he hadn't showered in weeks!" The two of the towns biggest gossipers were going at it while most of the other people had returned to their seats. Mixed mumbles filled the cafe as the initial shock of visitors wore down. By noon they will have already fabricated the peoples whole life's stories, and their beliefs.
The service after that mellowed out, and most of the chatters left in an hour or so, leaving behind the grime of their breakfast. They would all be back for lunch, and the stories would start again, carried on from their group activities,or among themselves as they went off to work. Eventually the newcomers came in, and were freshened up. "Welcome to Auntie May's, what can get for you?" I handed them the menu before grabbing out my order sheet. "Well, Uh, I'd like the loaded platter, with hash browns instead of grits, and some sausage. " The curly haired one handed me the menu as he ordered and then said that he wanted a coffee to drink. The smaller one with the glasses handed his menu to me next. "Pancakes or waffles, whichever, with a side of scrambled eggs and milk to drink." I jotted his down and grabbed the menu to tuck under my arm with the other one. "And for you two?" The shortest one there with some tattoos on himself went next. "What's good?" He folded his hands on the table and I racked my brain for what deals we had today. "Well it's waffle Wednesday, so you can get any kind of waffle with two sides of your choice at half off, and that's pretty good, but my favorite's the strawberry delight." He nodded and eventually decided that he wanted the waffles, and so did the last guy, who looked like one of the walking dead. "Oh, and we'll both want some coffee to drink." I nodded, took the remaining menus, and headed to the back to give the orders to Auntie. "They aren't that bad auntie..." She just shook her head and took their order. "Don't let me say I told you so." I rolled my eyes and taped the bell. "Just cook their food."

don't expect too many updates though, writing inspirations are too far and few in between, and I have exams next week so I need to study 0.0
any how, let me know what you think!
